Brade stepped to the front, taking a defensive position with his sword and shield in hand. It took some coaxing but Colm stepped to the front as well so that the two stood side by side in the hall. Behind them Kiana kept the torch held high to maximize their light, and Ali kept a watchful eye behind. In the darkness ahead, a simmering red light pulsed from both sides of some very dark room ahead. So far, there was nothing else but inky blackness to be seen.
Brade mutters as they proceed, "What could be ahead, some kind of furnace room? Or is it something... magical? Most importantly, can it even be smashed apart with a sword?"
In the middle of the darkness ahead a green light pulses to life as a rectangular shape roughly three feet wide and two feet tall comes into view and casts a dim light into the center of the room. Seeing nothing else, and nothing immediately threatening Brade continues forward, dragging the rest of you along.
As you step closer your own torchlight cascades into the room and the source of the two dimly lit red items are revealed to be braziers, inlaid with writing of some kind. The newly illuminated object to be some kind of ornate stone step, or possibly a chest.
(You are near the entrance to a room, and there arent any obvious threats)
“On the one hand, the goblins appear to have reason to avoid this place. On the other hand, could I sleep well at night if I feared all that a goblin feared?”
Having convinced himself, Brade will step into the room and proceed cautiously towards the new objects.
Before Brade can go out into the room, Kiana grabs his arm and says "hang on." She says a prayer to Amaril out loud, asking for Brade to be protected from otherworldly threats. She lets go of the arm and concludes, "You should be safe now. Go on ahead."

Colm and the others seemed content to let Brade enter the room alone. The big warrior readjusted the grip on his sword and shield and stepped into the room, allowing his gaze to peer into the dark corners of the room closest him and into the dark shadows of the ceiling somewhere overhead. There was JUST enough light from Kiana's torch, coupled with that of the faerie fire and braziers, that Brade thought he could be sure there wasnt anything lurking there.
Slowly he stepped through the room, his feet dragging softly on the stone floor as he looked for signs of trouble. He stopped at the northern most brazier for a few moments, turning his head this way and that, before moving on around the back side of the stone step left glowing by Ali's magic. He leaned low here too, and even hazarded to set his sword aside for moment to run his fingers along the stone. A few moments later he stood, reclaimed his sword and made his way back to where the others waited, kicking at a stray bone laying on the floor nearby and sending a small cloud of dust and remnants of fabric into the air.
"The braziers have writing I cant read, and the stone box has seam that suggests its a chest. Its got an elaborate front that is probably a lock."
Ali will move forward, and inspect the writing to see if it's dwarvish, gnomish, Halfling or Druidic
(Also, I don't think it was your intention @DM, but when you write in the characters' voices it makes my 'magical compulsion' alarms go off. So if there is a chance for that I would like to make an insight check, but if it was just you taking some agency with the story please disregard)
Kiana will also move forward, alongside Ali. If the writing on the braziers is primordial, she can read it, but otherwise she'll focus on the chest. She'll want to investigate it to see what the locking mechanism is, how tough it is, how easy it would be to brute force, and anything else about the chest she can glean.
Investigation: 16 (15+1)

Brade will move forward cautiously with sword and shield ready, depending on Kiara's torch to see in the darkness.

And the map...
Brade mutters as they proceed, "What could be ahead, some kind of furnace room? Or is it something... magical? Most importantly, can it even be smashed apart with a sword?"
“No idea, my good sir. But we can most certainly find out!”
If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
(Asked a question in logistics, but don't want it to bog down story of someone wants to move ahead)
Ali will cast faerie fire into the middle of the room ahead, taking a chance that there is something there

Brade peers into the room and thinks aloud,

Brade awkwardly says, “Thanks, your worship. You do your duty well.”
