Guile also searches the slain creature for valuables (10). He draws out a couple of vials from his backpack, pierces the giant in the neck, and collects 2 vials of its blood. "For research" Guile explains to his companions with a wry smile.
Guile notices a lump in the creature abdomen, which splits open after a slight prodding due to the damage the creature had taken during the battle. You see a leather bag soaked in stomach acid. It contains two vials, the first holding a liquid that looks a lot like the liquid in your healing potions, the other a clear fluid the is faintly luminescent in the darkness.
I assume that the rest of you are heading up to the surface, I'll post the next occurence tomorrow.

Guile plucks the two vials from the leather pouch. "I'll hold onto these, for safekeeping..." He eyes the clear fluid curiously, trying to recollect it from his arcane studies24
Looking at the vial and dredging up memories from the past, Guile pops the stopper on the vial and takes a whiff from it. He is fairly sure that it is a potion of growth (1d4 hours of the enlarge spell on the drinker).
Arnel leads you back up to the surface and tells you that you have a couple of hours to rest up and make yourselves presentable for the new leader.
"Scrag", responds the elf. "It regenerates like crazy while in water. You need to effectively destroy it with fire or acid. Fire is a little difficult to pull off underwater."
When you get to the surface you notice that dawn is on the horizon. Arnel then tells the group, "Take have some breakfast and clean up a bit. in 2 hours you'll be expected in the old temple complex. Beyond that I don't know what to expect."
Everyone will benefit from a short rest.
(You can spend Hit Dice to heal if necessary, etc, state how you will be spending your time. I will then move you on to the meeting.)
A knock at the door. A guard has written orders for the group. Apparently, Rog has been out on patrol and has encountered a bit of difficulty and has requested that the group be sent out for support. The orders you have received splits the group up, sending some of you to assist the wolf tender and the other group to report to the old temple.
(You can prepare before entering, just state what you do.)
As you enter, the first thing you notice is the temple has been cleaned up, broken furniture removed and some repairs have been started of the damaged stonework and statues. The you notice a visibly angry Arnel standing in of a seated human who is studying a number of documents on the table in front of him. He is ignoring the glare that the elf is giving him.
The man looks up as you enter and stands up to greet you. As he walks pass Arnel, he says to the elf, "It is settled,Alu'Tel'Quessir,"
"Greetings. I amKaylan Phantand I have heard complementary reports about you. WhileHektorhas been given command of the raiding force here, I've been given control of the daily functioning of this outpost. I am offering you the opportunity to join my group. Are you interested in hearing more about what it entails?"
Aegnor & Vanja, the word he used to refer to Arnel was familiar, having a root word in both Sylvan and Elvish. Roll either a History or Nature check, difficulty 10.
The group sees chain he is wearing, prompting a Religion roll, difficulty 13.
For those of you who succeeded in your history or nature check, the phrase he used to refer to Arnel roughly translates to "Fae of the water".
For those of you who succeeded on your religion check the symbol is an unrolled scroll, the symbol of Oghma, the god of knowledge and learning.
Kaylan Phant pauses to think a moment before answering. "Depends on what you consider to be powerful and influential, but wealth I can guarantee." He then continues on outlining his plan, presenting you a document. He intends to make this area permanent base and eventually restore the town and mine. Once the town is rebuilt, each of you will 50 gp a month and a small home as a stipend, which will be paid as long as the town stands. Your group will have a 5% interest in the NET profits of the mines, after expenses. which on average works out to about 400-600 gp a month, to be split how you see fit (in the event you all perish without inheritors, it will be split up into the main shareholder's pool.) You will award titles of Baron, would not be taxed on your income(s) unless you were to acquire land through purchase or as an award. The profit from that would be taxed.
The priest then informs you all that you would be required to do explore the area under and around the mine and possibly clear out the area of intruders.
He then places 5 sets of bronze torcs on the table and states "You would also immediately given the rank of an upper echelon officer in the Lord's army." He shuffles the papers on the desk and continues on, "So a noble title if successful, an immediate increase in rank and guaranteed income. You just have to sweat allegiance to me and merely continue on doing what you were already doing under Hektor's command. Interested in my proposal?"
