Sinak leaves the petty cash box alone, but he grabs the keys to the Vault and the spare keys to the display case. He looks at the folders and names quickly, he does not speak Infernal but he hopes to recognize any names if possible and see if there is anything of interest. Gan-Re: Aarakocra Barbarian - The Wild Beyond the Witchlight | DM - Keys of Empire
"We could always assist Sorith with cheating in some way, if any of you have the magic or tricky hands to do so. I believe that we could also find a way to stall the card game until tomorrow so that we get in and out at night without anyone knowing and head into the vault if we've found a way to deal with Virgil by then."He sighs, putting his head in his hands, "If this place even sleeps."
Elovar says, "Well, Sorith seems to be doing a fantastic job on her own! I could try to inspire Sorith in the the game, but I don't know whether the dragonborne would really welcome my help-slash-interference."
"I don't think that we even need Sorith to win this game. If Sorith can just keep everyone's eyes," he nods slightly toward the guard at the display case, "on the entertainment at the card table, I think that your 'brother' may be able to get hands on the prize before the game is over."
"Runes? Hm. Hopefully, the runes protect the cabinet itself, and we only need to open the lock to remove the statue. If you need an excuse to get the key and take out the statue, I could 'accidentally' spill something on the cabinet and then create a minor illusion to make it look like the spill somehow got behind the glass and on the statue. Once you have the statue, I could cast an illusion of the statue still in the cabinet to give us 1 minute to get out of the room and head toward the exit, but I do not have the skill to make a moving illusion. We'd have to figure out how to do the swap in a way that no one notices."
"But I'd also like to see whether we can make this little excursion more profitable for us. What do you think, too ambitious?"
Elovar briefly tosses out some ideas. With such a small crew, he doesn't think that they could do both parts simultaneously. They could take the statue first. Then, when most of the guards are focused on recovering the statue, maybe they could hit to the vault? But that seems like a good way to get trapped between Virgil and the guards.
Or, better, if they could somehow disable the guards in the monitoring room, they could swipe some things from the vault first -- not everything, just enough to pay for the boat and to make this job worth their while. Then, as soon as that's done, get the statue and get out. Hopefully, they'd be gone before anyone realizes that no one is monitoring the mirrors.
"The big problem -- literally -- is Virgil. I'm sure that he'd attack as soon as we take anything...or maybe even as soon as we enter the vault. We'd need a way to disable him. Or at least a way to defeat him quietly and without raising an alarm. If Well'ard knows, maybe I could charm it out of him?"
“I like the idea of spilling something on the cabinet and then making it appear like it got inside, need to clean the statue. We may want to roll with that. Taking the vault, that is a whole different matter. Very ballsy. I don’t know, that Virgil guy sounds tough. Perhaps if we had a little more help… or a big distraction. Keep thinking. I guess we are waiting to see how this game turns out, eh? Well, my “break time” is done, back to work. Let me know if you want to try that on the cabinet, it will allow me to get the key to it from Well’ard.” Sinak finishes the last of his noodles and coffee, starts to head to A7 to pick up a mop to go with his bucket. After that, he cleans and swabs periodically to keep up the act, continually circling back to the area.
Regarding the cabinet: "Let's see whether Sorith gets knocked out of the tournament. If so, we can try spilling something something on the statue. Just know that once you take the statue, the clock is ticking. I can only keep the illusion going for a minute. After that, someone is going to notice that it's gone, and the whole place will go on high alert. If you're the last one who touched it, we'll want to get you out of here before the alarm goes up."
Regarding Virgil: "I know that the clerics who follow the members of the Seldarine can repel the undead. Does your goddess also give you that power, too? We might not need to fight Virgil if we can just keep the creature at bay long enough to get in, grab some coin, and get out."
Regarding distractions: "I wonder whether Virgil would pursue a robber out of the vault. If so, then we'd only need a distraction to get in, right? After that, the mere appearance of Virgil on the casino floor should be enough of a chaos agent to help us get out."
The tiefling running the game announces "And the winner of this round is the large Dragonborn with Ms Moore". Anaïs Bellefleu, who is now clearly very drunk, stands up in a rush and knocks over the gaming table. Cards and coins go flying. He shouts at Sorith "You cheat!"
Elovar cheers and raises his glass. Based on the piles of chips before Bellefleur flipped over the table, it looks like the tournament is turning into a one-on-one between Sorith and Lahdia Mizreem. After the table is flipped over, Elovar stands up and takes out his book of poetry (spellcasting focus) just in case. He sees Sinak leave the tournament hall, following one of the waiters, but he stays in the tournament hall in case a fight really breaks out.
Anaïs Bellefleu runs straight in the direction of the docks. The magical aura around Well'ard starts to fade and he resembles the normal, if very strong looking, guard again. You here him say to the other guard in the room "Gota to teach you that trick, very handy for times like these. And me being management now means I cannot always come running for stuff. How are things doing? "
Elovar pockets his book and pushes forward toward Well'ard, whom he recognizes from earlier. As he gets to Wall'ard, Elovar looks around at the other spectators in the room. He turns, with his arms outstretched and uses his "stage voice" to say, "The Afterlife Casino certainly knows how to entertain, doesn't it folks?! Such an exciting end to that round!"
He gestures toward Well'ard and starts clapping as he says, "Let's show some appreciation to the Well'ard, the casino manager, for putting on a good show! Huh? Let's hear it! Woohoo!"
If he can get the audience clapping, he leans toward Well'ard and says quietly, "Sorry to intrude, but I'm sure that you don't want to spook your patrons. Just trying to help my friend's new employer."
And if Well'ard doesn't rebuff him immediately, Elovar tries to play a sort of M.C., almost as though these events were all part of a plan. In his stage voice again, Elovar asks, "Well'ard, I guess it'll take the staff a little while to reset the table and sort out all of the chips into each players' stashes again, but I'm sure that no one wants to miss a moment of drama as this tournament enters its final rounds! Would you like to announce the time when the next round of this exciting tournament will begin? That way, all of these beautiful people can try their luck in the gaming hall or enjoy the casino's other attractions while they wait for the next round to begin."
Well'ard is a bit taken a back. He is used to guarding really, but is trying to set up to his new role and follows Elovar’s lead. "Yeah, well. Gota keep order and all. This is my place now and that means disrespecting the casino means disrespecting me. If someone is cheating we will know about it, but no one knocks over my tables to start a fight, unless its the guards that is. Anyway looks like our poor looser has left some of his chips behind. Just enough for drinks for everyone I would say. Let's all have a drink and continue the games tomorrow." Well'ard gestures to some servers to start cleaning up and fetching drinks. "And make mine a double, it's been a long day"

Next, Elovar finds one of the other staff members and inquires about lodging for the night. "I'm eager to see the tournament finale, but even if the casino runs 24 hours a day, I do not. I'm not as young as I once was! If I want to get some sleep and freshen up before the tournament resumes, is there lodging on site at the casino? Or would I need to go back down the river to find a room?"
Once he gets that answer, Elovar makes his way back to where he left his drink and appetizer. He tries to keep an eye on the players and on the cabinet with the statue while he waits for Falkas and the others to return or to start gathering somewhere else.
"Free drinks!" Falkas shouts loudly, before he turns 'drunkenly' and follows Sinak after a moment, using his own mop as a walking staff, "Anything for you brother!" His act straightening up as they move a little out of sight. "Before you say anything, for some reason, perhaps my charming good looks, the lovely drow lady paid for my drink. The one playing in the tournament, just a bit of a curiousity."He swirls the drink around, taking another sip.
