Virro creeps to look into the room, cloak pulled up and a dark, black executioner’s hoodie on his head. He sneaks into the room to have a look, nodding to Corlith and Reed, following them.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
As Corlith, Reed and Virro head up the iron stairs, Slobberchops looks around but stays quiet.
The spiral staircase climbs fifteen feet to a square room with crisscrossing rafters ten feet overhead and a peaked roof above that. An empty bookcase dominates the west wall, and two filthy padlocked cages stand on the floor. One cage holds a human, female prisoner and a chamberpot.
She looks nervous as you all enter, but there is a bit of hope as she answers Corlith, "Yes, the Duke put me in here. As I told the tielfing, my name is Shaleen Zoraz. I'm a sewer maintenance supervisor and well I was trying to extend the Lower City's sewer system into the underground system under the Bathhouse. Please, I just... I told her I'd stop my plans, I just want out of here and I won't say anything bad about them!"
Reed looks around, making sure there aren't any hiding places something can jump out and stab them in the dark.
"You're in luck," Reed begins. "We just recently cleaned out the tunnels under the bathhouse. You're good to extend the sewers as much as you want now."
Reed takes a look at the lock. Then he looks at the air nearby.
"You've got one messed up family. Keeping people locked up in the attic? This place will definitely need to be burned down when we're finished."
He then takes out his tools and takes a stab at unlocking the padlock.
Roo watches Reed release the Duke's prisoner, his head jerking from side to side while he listens to the comment about burning the house to the ground, and as enticing as it sounds, he visibly shudders, shaken by the thought of roaring flames. It seems no matter how much fire Archie exposes him to, he just can't get past being scared shitless of it. He watches the Tiefling with interest, listening to her talking about tunneling beneath the bathhouse.
"I think that the terms of your release should actually be that you return to work immediately. Buck." Roo adds, watching Reed with wary eyes like fire could break out any moment. "Go tonight and start digging. Faster than ever. If they didn't want you there, you need to be there fast."
Archie moves about the room with the vanity table and if no one else takes the healing potions she will pocket whatever is left over, just in case.
As some of the group move up the stairs she asks the rest, "did we do anything with the man we found in the other room? I was a bit distracted with the armour, sorry about that, I thought it may have... clues."
"My companions speak truly, do not fear the Duke's reprisal, we intend to make her pay with her life for the villainous deeds undertaken here and under the bathhouse", Corlith adds. "As soon as you have answered the questions we have put to you, you are free to leave".
He motions for her to descend the stairs as she talks, and if she goes he follows her down.
Virro watches Reed as he releases her from confinement, losing interest as the talk revolves around the sewer project. Instead, he steps over to the bookcase and starts examining titles, looking for anything of interest.

After that, he heads back to the other end of the hall where Thurstwell was left and he bends down, tying up his hands and legs. He pauses, looking at his fingers, looking for the one that looks best to him. “I’ll be back for you…”
He stands and moves to the two doors across the hall and bends down, listening for anything across the way.
Perception : 6. “What’s that buzzing sound in my ears?” Virro shakes his head for a moment.
Shaleen steps gingerly out of her cage and looks at Reed gratefully. Following Corlith down the stairs, she answers, “See anyone recently? Um, just the Duke.. so feed me I guess. There was another prisoner in the other cage that was taken out two days ago, I think. I do not know what happened to him.”
”Continue with my project? Really? Well, I’ll have to find my crew…” she trails off as she starts thinking, but then falls into a coughing fit as she is obviously not been taken care of very well. “Do any of you have water?”
Reya meets them at the bottom of the stairs and hands over her water skin. Hearing Archie, she nods and sees that Virro is heading into the bedroom to deal with the small man. “What about the other rooms? This level has not been cleared yet.” She says as she wipes up some blood from her cuts.
"Help yourself to anything the kitchen, and I would suggest you leave by the back door", Corlith says to Shaleen, and then nods to Reya. "I will check the rooms down the corridor", he says and heads towards the first room to the west of the corridor, and waits outside the door north of him.
He looks back to make sure someone knows he is going in, and then carefully tries the handle and opens the door if possible.
Corlith enters the room, but it doesn't take long for him to come back out.
"Nothing in there, just some worthless junk. Looks like it was Mortie's room", he says to the others, then heads for the next door along to repeat the process.
Corlith disappears into the next room for a minute or so before returning.
"No-one in there either. Looks like Amrik's room. Found some nice clothes, and he owes us that after making us trudge through that sewer water. There was a jewellery box with his signet ring in it too", he relays to the others.
"Doesn't look like the Duke is home, unless there is somewhere we haven't looked yet?".
Shaleen nods to Corlith and continues down the stairs searching for the kitchen. She sees Amrik, and you all hear a stifled cry.
Reya looks at Corlith, “Who’s Mortie?”
Once the brother’s bedrooms are cleared, Reed, Corlith, and followed by Reya start looking into the last room on the second floor. Peaking into the room, you see a canopied bed with a gossamer shroud for keeping insects at bay, a freestanding wooden privacy screen, a cast-iron bathtub with clawed feet, a fireplace, and a padlocked iron chest. Appears to be some sort of dumb waiter in the corner as well.

Reed waves the others into the vanity room and points out the two healing potions on the table, raising an eyebrow to Wilfred.
”Corlith went to the next room. There’s a staircase up to the roof tower. And he says there’s someone up there.”
Corlith trusts Reed has passed on the message, and quietly sneaks up the stairs and pokes his head into the upstairs room.

After a short time, Corlith messages Reed again.
”There is a lady in a cage up here, being kept prisoner. Think the coast is clear, but the cage is locked”.
Reed looks down at Slobberchops. Then he messages back “Imps?”
Reed then does his best to move quietly up the stairs with Slobberchops to see about doing some imp detection.

Reed opens the cage and stands to the side.
"Have you seen anyone up here recently?" Reed asks Shaleen. "And Roo's right. If anywhere needs a sewer drain, it's that place."

Reed points at the door he was listening at.
"There's whatever's behind here, and then there were the stairs down to the basement too." Reed says.
He flips Slobberchops another treat in hopes of keeping their Imp-Detector in working order.
Reed then opens the door and takes a quick look inside, ready to slam the door shut if there's another one of those angry armor guys waiting.
Corlith makes his way over to Reed, looking to back him up.
"I actually hope she is in there. If the alternative is another sewer water infested basement, let's get this over with now".
As Reed opens the door, he reaches out to touch the halfling's shoulder and provide a little extra fortitude.
Shaleen nods to Corlith and continues down the stairs searching for the kitchen. She sees Amrik, and you all hear a stifled cry.
