Even Corlith cracks a smile at the Ironmaiden's attempt at dancing, and he has to try quite hard to pull himself together and enter the room.
"There must be a set of keys around here somewhere", he says to his companions before addressing the prisoners. "Good question, who do we have here? And more to the point, why are you here?".
Roo squawks in delight when the hapless guard goes down. There's a moment where it's clear to everyone he's about to perform his dance of domination...but the longer he stares down at the fallen body of the thing, the more his body language shifts away from it. Instead, he flicks the Owl Talon in his hand, feeling its weight...then reaches down to begin slicing off the things beard...
"Cluck ugly mother clucker. Can't believe they let you out of doors with that stupid looking face. I'm sure all the devil's in Avernus are ashamed of you. But I figure you oughta make a nice wig or clock or something for me hm?"
Once the IronMaiden stops dancing and takes in more of the scene they seem to leave ther rest of the questioning to the group, unsure of what to do, they stand still like a statue observing, an odd nervousness emanating from them, for those with the insight to pick up on it.
In the prison near the body of the devil, there resides a short, lean, erudite male human in his fifties. He wears an ankle-length caftan, has dark hair and his neatly trimmed goatee beard is dyed crimson. He moves to the bars and looks down at Roo'Stor now cutting off the beard, "Be careful there, that beard is dangerous." Then to Reed and Corlith, "I am Falaster Fisk. As to what I am doing stuck down here? Why when I heard that Thavius Kreeg had arrived in Baldur's Gate, it didn't take long for the rumors to hit me that the Vanthampurs were sheltering him. I, being a spy from Candlekeep, obviously wanted to find out why." he turns a bit pink, showing off his goatee a bit more with the clash in colors, "and I got caught."
In the other cell is a well dressed noble woman in her seventies. She is sitting, a bit slumped on the floor, watching what is going on but not saying anything.
"Candlekeep has spies?" Reed says conversationally. "You really do learn something new everyday."

He goes to the dead devil as he speaks. If jails need keys, the jailer might have them, he thinks as he takes a look at the now beardless devil for any sign of a key ring, or anything of value.
“Hmm, a spy eh? Did you learn anything else before they caught you?” Virro walks in and stands out of reach, but in front of the door to the cell, curious about the man. “Should we let you out, I wonder? How are you at solving puzzles? Should he earn his way out? With information, or a test?” Virro smiles and looks to see the effect of his words.
Corlith raises an eyebrow to Fisk's story, "Has it occurred to you that introducing yourself as a spy from Candlekeep may not be the wisest of things to do? Perhaps you missed that lesson at spy school".
He shrugs. "Well, I figured I was going to die in here anyways, so why hide anything? Obviously, you aren't friends of the Vanthampurs." He points to the dead prison guard, "So I was hoping that being open with you we could start out on the right foot. Was I wrong?" He looks to the halfling and smiles, "Well, I suppose obviously isn't the right word, but I was sent here by Sylvira Savikas. She is a mage in Candlekeep and she is no friend of Thavius. She believes he struck a deal with an archdevil, and I have been sent to find out if it is true or not."
Reya shudders at the comment, but keeps quiet. She figures she has said enough on the matter, and looks over to the woman. "Excuse me, but who might you be?"
She old woman meets Reya's eyes. "I am Lady Satiir Thione-Hhune. I was kidnapped several weeks ago." she starts out with a strong voice, but then slumps at the mention of being kidnapped. Seemingly defeated even though the group could possibly rescuers.
"That is a very pragmatic choice. It is of course obvious we have no love for the Vanthampur's, and that feeling does extend to Thavius Kreeg. Sylvira Savikas is obviously a very astute person. Zariel would be the specific devil in question", Corlith replies and turns to Virro thoughtfully.
"I think you are on to something there, Virro", he says and turns his attention to Fisk. "Perhaps you could tell us everything you know of Zariel?".
First replying to Roo, "Well, I do know that that beard attacks.. but maybe it is only when the creature is alive? I not know. Just thought it would be fair to warn you."
He sits down on his cot, realizing that the group isn't specifically here to rescue him and folds his hands in his lap. "Well, everything I know in regards to Zariel? Too be honest I do not know if it goes all the way to Zariel or not. I just know that Sylvira is convinced that Thavius Kreeg struck a bargain with an archdevil, and that a copy of the contract he signed is hidden inside a magic puzzle box. She asked me to help her obtain proof of Kreeg’s crimes. Oooh..." his eyes grow wide, he stands up and grabs the bars to his cage. It doesn't appear that he is trying to grab at the box Reed is holding up, just amazed to see it.
"Where..where did you obtain that puzzle box? Yes! Well, no, I cannot open such a thing, but Sylvira can! And I can take you to her!" The excitement in his voice is much more than when you arrived. "Please, let us go to Candlekeep. She thinks she can open that puzzle box, and is willing to pay for it — in gold or magic items.”
The woman looks to IronMaiden and shakes her head. "No, though I would most appreciate being let out. The Duke has me here because the Vanthampurs were planning to use me to keep my family from opposing her bid to become the new grand duke."
Ironmaiden cocks their head at the woman's answer, "The Duke was found committing acts of great treason against the city, her punishment was the termination of her life and the punishment was swiftly executed by this group here... With this information in mind, who now is the most likely person to become the new Grand Duke?" Ironmaiden looks to the keys in Reed's hand, and back to the lock, then the woman, all in a stunted robotic fashion. "Your liberation is statistically likely."
Corlith observes Fisk's excitement when he sees the puzzle box, but is disappointed with his answer regarding Zariel. He had in fact dodged the question entirely.
"We came across the puzzle box when we were clearing out the Vanthampur manor above. Kreeg seemed really upset we had it as well, but opening it has proved an issue as has getting information out of him, so knowing what is in it and that this Sylvira Savikas is capable of opening it might just help loosen Kreeg's tongue. Or it may mean we don't have to, and we can simply move to his execution", he replies in a thoughtful tone.
"We have seen a lot of idolatry towards Zariel here. I would still like to know what you know about them", he prompts.
Roo listens as he shrugs and continues his work, leaning in to finish removing the apparently dangerous beard of the devil on the floor. When he's done, he holds it up in one hand, examining it as he stalks across the room, his head bobbing and cocking from side to side while he studies the two prisoners.
"Interesting." He says, regarding what they've told them so far. "I am willing to go along with this buck, but I think we have things to consider."
He looks closer, harder at the captives.
"There seems to be a lot of mystery around this whole business." He adds, making sure that the two prisoners can get a good look at him. "Have either of you seen anyone like me? Or heard of Cliffvine Vineyard? Or are there any other prisoners in the mansion like you? You may not even know, buck. Oh. Would...would your people at Candlecreep be able to help our friend? She's trapped in her armor and she's dying..."
Roo points to Archie. He looks worried...if a chicken can look worried...
"We have to get Kreeg to the Flaming Fists before we go any further." He states after that. "Hopefully he'll be safe there while we sort this out. I don't think we're done with him, buh buh buck."
The woman stands up, wraps her hands around the bars and gives the IronMaiden a considering look. You can see she is not used to dealing with...the regular folk. "Dead, you say? Well, that does change things. For the better I would reckon for most of Baldur's Gate." She lets go of the bars with her left hand and uses a finger to tap her chin. "Most likely person to become the Grand Duke? Well, with Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard missing with the fall of Elturel, I suppose the last two dukes that remain would be in contention. That would be Belynne Stelmane and Dillard Portyr. As to who would rise? I cannot answer that, I do not know." Her eyes move to the keys in Reed's hand, but she does not say anything else.
Fist listens to Corlith as he speaks his thoughts outloud. "Well, you'd have my vote for his execution." he says without a hint of irony. "Zariel?" he shrugs his shoulders, "I'm sorry, but I don't really know anything specific about her. I mean, I'm sure you know she rules over Avernus, but that's about the extent of it. But you're right, this place is riddled with shrines and decor to devils. As to specifically her? I didn't see anything like that. But then again, I was caught upstairs and brought directly into this prison." Then he says under his breath, "damn imps."
When Roo addresses the two prisoners and asks if they have seen another rooster like him, they both shake their heads. Fist says, "I mean, I've seen an eagle before, at least that's what he said he was, god damn pompous ass though. Was glad to be rid of his company."
Satiir gazes at Roo and then with a voice that authority is obviously weaseling it's way back in, "No, I have not heard of or seen anything you're talking about. A vineyard? I am sorry, I do not look at the bottles of wine that are kept in my wine cellar."
Fist however seems to think some of this over and then his eyebrows raise, "Why, of course I've heard of Cliffvine Wines! They are some of the best wines we get in Little Calimshan! You don't... I don't suppose you have some on you?" he licks his lips in anticipation. "No.. no like I said, I was brought directly here, Satiir here was already here and I haven't heard of any other prisoners."
He looks over to the IronMaiden and then back to Roo, "She's trapped? and maybe dying? Oh no.. well, we do have lots of people that help in Candlekeep, I'm sure Sylvira would know."

Reed looks down at the dead bearded devil and then over at Virro.
"I think he said the same thing." Reed says then adds. "Without the laughing part though."
He turns back to the prisoners.
"So who are you two?"
Even Corlith cracks a smile at the Ironmaiden's attempt at dancing, and he has to try quite hard to pull himself together and enter the room.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"I think he's telling the truth," Reed says.
Reed then stoops down and lifts a set of keys off the devil's belt and stands back up with a smile on his face.
He holds the keys up for Fisk to see.
"Why is it obvious that a spy from Candlekeep would want to know why Kreeg was here?"
Corlith raises an eyebrow to Fisk's story, "Has it occurred to you that introducing yourself as a spy from Candlekeep may not be the wisest of things to do? Perhaps you missed that lesson at spy school".

Roo stops his grisly work for a moment to look up when he's warned about the fiend's beard.
"What's dangerous about it?" He asks, looking for the first time at the two prisoners.

Ironmaiden slowly approaches the old woman prisoner, "Are you in need of assistance lady Satii, medical or otherwise?"
Reed pulls the puzzle box out of his bag and holds that up for Fisk to see, though not close enough that he could grab it.
"Are you as smart as the rest supposedly are at Candlekeep?" Reed asks. "Any idea how to get into a puzzle box?"
Virro nods when Reed pulls out the puzzle box, smiling and merely saying “A test.” He also nods to Corlith’s suggestion, “Or information. Seems fair.”
