Wilfred shakes his head at the foolish bandit that attacked him. Hearing the ruckus on the other side of the tent, it sounds like they have this in order. He heads towards the entrance of the mine and peaks in quickly (7). "Yup, that's a dark cave."
Looking the other way, he sees Corlith still engaged in combat. He shifts his Glaive to his offhand, then quickly draws a dagger and throws it in one practiced movement. "Dang it!" While his throw was practiced, his aim was off, even against an unmoving target. "This is why I got the damn bow!" He tells himself.
Movement: to the entrance of the mine.
Free action: draw dagger.
Action: attack with thrown dagger. To hit 8, damage 7
Virro turns to his right and sees the bandit that has emerged, he quickly looks down at his shield and nods, pulling out his rapier and heading over to him. “You have made a grave mistake by harming these people. A “grave” mistake indeed…”. He skewers him with his rapier and twists it, a dark energy flowing down the blade and into the bandit and he smiles at him as he tries to walk closer along the blade to the bandit, so close that the bandit gets a whiff of his breath.
Rapier : 22 to hit, for 11 points of piercing damage. As he hits he uses his Touch of Death with the hit to deal an additional 11 points of necrotic damage to the bandit.

With no more active hostiles in sight, Archie shakes the lightning energy off her gauntlets and offers a friendly handshake toward Reed's mother, "I'm Archie! Pleased to meet'cha! Can you and your friends here give us info on what's happening down in the mine? We're gonna clear out them bandits for you and get your village back to normal."
Corlith wanders over towards the halfling ladies as well.
"Nice work ladies. I'm Corlith", he says by way of introduction as he wanders towards the large tent the leader exited from.
Looking to Roo he says, "Best make sure there are no more of them". If Roo or anyone else looks to go into the tent, he will provide some focus and wander in after them.
Roo continues to bob and jump around, taking a moment to pull the bandit chieftain's beard or hair or whatever while dipping his ass on his face. He then pushes the barbed devil's beard from his eyes and turns toward the tent. He races toward it, giving Corlith a high five as he goes.
"Buck! I'm on it!" He shouts, rushing headlong, bloodlust still pumping through his veins. "Where's the rest of 'em? Are there more!? Let's get 'em!" Buck!"
Reed quickly looks around for more bandits in hiding. Once he's sure there aren't any more, he walks over to his mom and gives her a hug.
"Hi Mum. Nice cast iron work there," Reed says. Then he introduces the women to the others who haven't introduced themselves yet, ending with "That was Roo who just went in the tent. And Wilfred is around here somewhere."
He looks around again.
"Nib's safe," Reed says. "Where's dad? And like Archie here asked, how many of these cutthroats are there and what's the situation in the mine?"
Reed looks back to his mom and then shakes his head.
Virro relaxes after the last bandit falls and walks over, curious to meet Reed’s mum. “Hello ma’am, my name is Virro. I’m Reed’s … I’m Reed’s … friend.” Smile and awkward arm around Reed’s shoulder for a brief moment. “I’m glad that we could help you out of this pickle. Reed has talked about you from time to time, it’s so nice to meet you in person…” Virro casually bends down and wipes the darkened blood off his rapier on the ground, then stows it away. In a quiet voice, he leans in close to Reed, saying “Do you see ‘em? In the air, are they floating around, talking to you yet?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Reed looks back over his shoulder and smiles at Virro. In a similarly quiet voice he says, "Yeah, they're over by the camp fire. They're blaming the first two for not seeing us show up."
"Hey mum," Reed says. "Why don't you tell us what you know about what's going on while I take a look at these chests."
Assuming the frying pan trio joins them by going into the main tent, Reed goes in and checks out the chests. Chatting with his mum while he gives it a shot unlocking the chests helps calm his hands and lets him focus.
(Thieves' Tools - (4+9) = 13, (13+9) = 22, (9+9) = 18, assuming three chests - will use Corlith's guidance on the first one - +4 for 17.)
The women take a collective sigh of relief but as the rest start joining them, one of them pipes up, "Verna just went into the caves to deliver some food... will she be back soon?"
Reed's mum smothers him with hugs and kisses before saying, "I knew you'd be back, pish tosh about you should have been here... I didn't raise my son to stick around waiting for something to happen!" She starts directing the other ladies to head back into the tent and start making food for the group.
As the questions start flying, Bree stops to consider them, "Well, your dad and the rest are down in the mines. I'm sure they are there to collect whatever these men are demanding." She looks at you all a bit pleadingly, "You're going to go save them, right?"
Reed successfully opens the two chests. One holds a handwritten map to the caves below and the other holds raw gold and silver that has obviously been mined from below.
Virro bends down to the corpse of the loud threatening man in the leather armor, pulling out his dagger and takes off an index finger. He walks back into the tent holding it up and then notes the looks, saying “Sorry, habit.” He stores it away in his pouch out of sight. He nods along with Reed, saying “Never…ever.” Referencing the thugs.

Reed unfolds the map and sees a crude drawing. Under the map are a couple of sheets of paper with random numbers on them, no rhyme or reason to them whatsoever.
His mum scratches her head a moment, "Well, we saw many people come in and out of the caves, never looked at them for too long in worry we'd be whipped or something. Just kept our heads down and did as we was told. I don't recall anyone going into the woods? Seemed theys all been either in camp or the mine?"
Bree scrunches up her face when she sees what Virro is holding up but as he puts it away decides not to say anything.
Corlith takes from the leader what he finds, and wanders across to Reed's mum, handing her the pouch.
"I think you ladies deserve to have his gold, after the help you gave us", he says.
He opens his palm to then show two keys, "I assume these were for those chests, but I will check just in case. Might be worth leaving the full one locked anyway".
With that he checks the keys match, leaving the full one locked if they do.
"I'm ready!" Archie chirps at Corlith as he finishes up checking things out. As Reed looks over the map and Archie catches sight of the extra papers, she becomes interested. "Mind if I take a look at those? Looks like a collection amount, maybe part of a ledger or something?"
”Everyone is gathered in the community hall. There’s a special knock but I’m sure if you just holler for Nib, they’ll figure out who you are. That’s the safest place for now. I’ll have dad back in a jiffy.”
He hands over the papers to Archie.
”Any names in there about who the ore is sent to?”
Reed gathers his gear and once the other tents are checked, he’s ready to head into the cave.
"Buck, probably the uh...the uh..." Roo says, attempting to answer Reed's most recent question. His head, still a bit scabbed up from docking himself, tilts quickly from side to side. "You know, I can't remember the name of that family we murdered. Who were they again? Buck. Van Tassle? Van Damne? Bagop, no matter! Dead is dead! Now, these featherless freaks have your dad too!? What outrage! Where are they, that we may rinse the lice from our feathers with blood!"

"Buck! Nothing in there but some chests! They're locked and I don't know cluck about opening them!"

Corlith didn't even get a chance to follow Roo into the tent, such was the speed that the gallus looked around and raced back out.
"Chests sound interesting, perhaps you might take a look Reed", he suggests, once again happy to lend some focus to proceedings.
"Hey mum," Reed says. "Why don't you tell us what you know about what's going on while I take a look at these chests."

"Will's watching the cave, right?" Reed asks in general.
He fishes the map out of the chest and takes a look at it.
"Oh we'll do more than save them," Reed says. "We'll make sure none of these thugs will ever bother anyone in the village again."
He nods back towards the center of the camp.
'Was that big one the leader? Any idea how many more are in the caves? Any out and about in the wood around here?"
