As Vayle enters Barthen's Provision, the familiar sound of a bell tinkling above the door announces his arrival. The shopkeeper, Elmar Barthen, looks up from the counter and greets him with a warm smile. "Ah, Vayle! Good to see you." Elmar says cheerfully. "What can I do for you today?"
Vayle returns the smile and replies. "Good day, Elmar. I'm in need of two riding horses and supplies for a journey to Conyberry. We'll require provisions for a few days."
Elmar nods understandingly. "Of course, I have just what you need. Give me a moment." He disappears into the back of the shop, returning shortly with two sturdy horses ready for travel. "Here are your riding horses, well-suited for the journey. And as for the supplies, I have plenty of rations, camping gear, and any other essentials you might require. How long do you expect to be gone?"
Vayle considers for a moment before answering. "We anticipate being away for a few days, so enough provisions to sustain us for that duration should suffice."
Elmar quickly gathers the necessary supplies, arranging them neatly in saddlebags. "Here you go, Vayle. Everything you need for your journey to Conyberry. May your travels be safe and fruitful." Vayle expresses his gratitude and pays for the horses and supplies, ensuring everything is securely packed and ready for their departure. Elmar accepts the payment with a grateful smile. "Thank you, Vayle. It's always a pleasure doing business with you. If there's anything else you need, don't hesitate to come back." (Remove 50 gp)

Vayle makes his way to Qelline's home, a sense of gratitude filling his heart. He knocks gently on the door, and Qelline opens it with a warm smile. "Vayle! How wonderful to see you. Come in, come in." she says, welcoming him inside.
Vayle steps into the cozy home and notices Carp playing with a set of wooden toy soldiers on the floor. He kneels down next to the young boy and smiles. "Carp, my friend, I wanted to personally thank you for your help. Your information about the Redbrands was invaluable, and it played a significant role in putting an end to their menace in our town."
Carp's eyes light up with excitement, and he beams with pride. "Really? I'm glad I could help, Vayle!" he exclaims, his voice filled with enthusiasm.
Vayle pats Carp on the shoulder gently, appreciating the boy's eagerness. "You did more than you know, Carp. Your bravery and willingness to share what you knew made a difference. The town is safer because of you."
Qelline joins them, a proud expression on her face. "Indeed, Carp, you've done us all proud. We're grateful for your courage." Qelline smiles warmly at Vayle. "It's been my joy and privilege, Vayle. Vayle makes his way to Edermath Orchard, the familiar scent of apples filling the air. He finds Daran Edermath tending to the apple trees, his weathered face beaming with a welcoming smile. Vayle approaches him with gratitude in his heart. "Daran, my friend." Vayle begins. "I wanted to express my sincere appreciation for your guidance and advice during our time here in Phandalin. Your wisdom has been invaluable, and it has helped us navigate through many challenges."
Daran nods, his eyes filled with a mix of kindness and wisdom. "Vayle, it's good to see you. I'm glad I could be of assistance. Helping newcomers like yourself is part of what makes this community thrive."
Vayle takes a moment to gather his thoughts before continuing. "Daran, I have one more favor to ask of you. I've heard whispers about the ruins known as Old Owl Well, and the disturbances happening there."
Daran's expression turns grave, his brows furrowing. "Ah, yes, Old Owl Well. It holds a dark history. Those ruins were once part of the ancient Netheril empire, a land of powerful magic. It's troubling to hear about the undead presence there."
Vayle's curiosity grows, and he leans in closer to Daran. "Tell me more about this place, Daran. What do you know about Old Owl Well and its connection to the Netheril empire?"
Daran takes a moment to gather his thoughts before speaking. "Old Owl Well was once a watchtower, built by the Netherese long ago. It is said that the Netheril empire was renowned for its mastery of magic. But as with all great empires, their power eventually crumbled, leaving behind ruins and remnants of forgotten knowledge." He pauses, his gaze distant as he recalls the tales. "I've heard stories from prospectors who ventured into the hills northeast of Phandalin. They speak of someone digging around in the ruins, perhaps seeking something of value or hidden power. But with the rise of the undead, it becomes even more urgent to investigate."
Vayle's determination intensifies as he listens to Daran's words. "I understand the importance of this task, Daran. I will venture to Old Owl Well and uncover the truth of who's there and what they seek. It is my duty to protect Phandalin and ensure its safety."
Daran places a hand on Vayle's shoulder, his voice filled with appreciation. "I have faith in your abilities, Vayle. You've proven yourself to be a capable and courageous individual. Just remember to be cautious. Old Owl Well holds ancient and potentially dangerous magic. Stay vigilant."
Vayle nods, his resolve firm. "Thank you, Daran. Your guidance and trust mean a great deal to me. I will not take this task lightly."
Daran offers a reassuring smile. "I know you won't, Vayle. Phandalin is fortunate to have you among its defenders. May your journey to Old Owl Well be fruitful and safe." With a final exchange of gratitude, Vayle takes his leave from Edermath Orchard.

Vayle enters the Townmaster's Hall, his gaze scanning the room as he takes in the heartening sight before him. Elara and Simon engage in a friendly sparring session, their staves clashing in controlled strikes and parries. Vayle can see Elara's expertise as she imparts her knowledge to Simon, guiding him in the proper techniques of wielding a quarterstaff. A smile forms on Vayle's face as he observes their interaction, appreciating the bond that has formed between them. He knows that Elara's skills and guidance will be instrumental in shaping Simon into a capable defender of Phandalin.
As he turns his attention, Vayle spots Sildar, his commanding presence evident as he teaches Carp and Pip the art of combat using wooden shortswords. He watches as Sildar patiently instructs the young boys, emphasizing proper stance and technique. It warms Vayle's heart to see Sildar sharing his expertise and fostering their growth as warriors.
However, his eyes are drawn to Nilsa, Mirna's daughter, as she practices with a bow and arrow. Vayle recognizes the potential in her and approaches her with a kind smile. He offers a few pointers on her stance, grip, and aiming, sharing his knowledge acquired from his own experience as an archer. "Remember, Nilsa, focus on your breathing and let your instincts guide you." Vayle advises gently. "Keep your eye on the target and trust in your own abilities. With practice, your aim will become more precise."
Nilsa nods, her expression a mixture of concentration and gratitude. "Thank you, Vayle. I appreciate your guidance. I want to become strong like you and protect my family." Vayle's voice carries reassurance as he responds. "You have it within you, Nilsa. Your determination and dedication will take you far. Keep practicing, and I have no doubt that you'll become a skilled archer." Feeling a sense of fulfillment, Vayle takes a step back, allowing Nilsa to continue her practice. He glances around the room once more, observing the collective effort and growth of Phandalin's defenders.

Vayle approaches Simon and Elara, a warm smile on his face as he takes in the camaraderie between them. He clears his throat gently to get their attention, then addresses Elara with a respectful nod. "Elara, may I borrow Simon for the remainder of the day?" Vayle asks, his voice filled with gratitude. "We need to plan for tomorrow's mission, and I believe his insights will be invaluable."

Elara's eyes widen slightly in surprise and then a smile tugs at the corners of her lips. "Thank you, Vayle. I'm honored by your trust and the opportunity. Elara, noticing his worry, reassures him with a reassuring smile. "Do not worry, Vayle. I will watch over Nilsa as if she were my own sister. She will be safe under my care."
Relief washes over Vayle as he hears Elara's words. He knows that Nilsa will be in capable hands and that Elara's dedication to protecting Phandalin extends beyond the town's borders. "Thank you, Elara." Vayle responds, his voice filled with gratitude. "Your commitment to our cause and your willingness to take care of Nilsa means a great deal to me. I trust that together, we will safeguard this town and its people." With a final nod of gratitude, Vayle turns to Simon, signaling that it's time to proceed with their planning.

Vayle and Simon enter the Phandalin Miner's Exchange, a bustling trading post filled with various goods and supplies. The owner, Halia Thornton, initially pays little attention to them, preoccupied with her own affairs. However, when she hears Simon's family name, Aumar, her demeanor suddenly shifts. Halia's eyes widen with recognition as she realizes the significance of Simon's lineage. She approaches them with a newfound interest, her voice taking on a slightly more pleasant tone. "Aumar, you say? A distinguished name indeed. It seems we have some common ground, young man."
Simon, unaware of Halia's ulterior motives, looks at her curiously. "Oh? How so?" Halia leans in slightly, a subtle smile playing on her lips. "Let's just say I have a keen interest in the history and prominence of certain families in the Sword Coast. The Aumars have a long-standing reputation in the whole realm."
Vayle, sensing something amiss, remains cautious. He observes their interaction, studying Halia's sudden change of attitude. Simon, more naive to the underlying dynamics, continues. "Well, I'm honored to be part of such a family. We've recently come across some treasures in the Redbrand hideout, and we're here to sell them."
Halia's eyes glimmer with anticipation as she realizes the potential value of the treasures. "Treasures, you say? I'd be more than happy to assess them for you. Please, show me what you've found." Vayle watches closely as Simon presents the treasures they retrieved from the hideout. Halia examines each item meticulously, her expert eye appraising their worth. "These are quite impressive." Halia comments, her voice betraying a hint of excitement. "I can offer you a fair price for these treasures, given their rarity and historical significance."

Vayle, wary of Halia's sudden interest in Simon and her true intentions, interjects. "We appreciate your offer, Halia. We'll consider it carefully before making a decision." Halia's smile falters slightly, but she quickly regains her composure. "Of course, take your time. But do keep in mind that I can offer you a deal that others in town might not be able to match."
Vayle nods, acknowledging her statement. "We'll keep that in mind, Halia. Thank you for your assessment." As they leave the Phandalin Miner's Exchange, Vayle pulls Simon aside, his tone filled with caution. "Be wary of Halia, Simon. Her sudden interest in you seems driven by more than just your family name. I suspect she has her own agenda." Simon, surprised by Vayle's warning, looks back at the trading post with a thoughtful expression. "I'll keep that in mind, Vayle. Let's proceed with caution and not be swayed by her charms."

As Halia steps out of her shop and grabs Simon's arm, Vayle's suspicions about her intentions are further confirmed. He watches with a mix of concern and caution as Halia attempts to sweet talk Simon, focusing her attention solely on him and seemingly ignoring Vayle's presence. Halia leans in, her voice laced with a seductive tone. "Simon, my dear, I assure you, I can make your time here in Phandalin truly worth it. Come back to my trading post, and we can explore all the possibilities together. I can offer you more than just a fair deal for your treasures."
Simon is visibly tempted by Halia's words and the allure of the promises she's making. He hesitates for a moment, his eyes shifting between Halia and Vayle, torn between the excitement of Halia's proposition and his loyalty to his companion. However, Simon's resilience and integrity prevail, and he manages to gather his composure. With a polite yet firm tone, he responds. "Thank you for your offer, Halia. I appreciate your interest, but for now, we must attend to our current tasks. We will consider your proposal in another opportunity."
Halia's smile falters slightly as Simon gently pulls his arm free from her grasp. She attempts to maintain her composure, though a hint of disappointment flickers across her face. "Very well, Simon. I understand. But remember, my offer still stands whenever you're ready." Simon nods respectfully, his gaze resolute. "I will keep that in mind, Halia. Thank you."
With that, Simon steps back, regaining his position next to Vayle. The two continue on their way, leaving Halia behind, her expression a mix of frustration and intrigue. Vayle keeps a watchful eye on Halia, ensuring they are not followed or subjected to any further attempts to sway them. Simon, though tempted by the seductive allure of Halia's promises, remains steadfast in his loyalty to his mission and his trust in Vayle.

Hanging above the front door of this modest trading post is a sign shaped like a wooden shield with a blue lion painted on it.
Vayle and Simon enter the Lionshield Coster, the atmosphere contrasting with their previous encounter at the Miner's Exchange. The shop is bustling with activity, as customers browse the wares and engage in transactions. Linene Graywind, the master of the Phandalin post, stands behind the counter, her sharp gaze assessing each customer with an air of authority. Approaching the counter, Vayle and Simon are greeted by Linene, who gives them a nod of acknowledgement. "Welcome to the Lionshield Coster." she says in a no-nonsense tone. "What can I assist you with today?"
Vayle scans the shelves, his eyes falling upon a variety of weapons, armor, and general supplies. He speaks up, his voice measured and respectful. "We're in need of some equipment and provisions for an upcoming journey. Anything you would recommend, or that you have available?" Linene's gaze lingers on Vayle and Simon, sizing them up briefly before her lips curl into a slight smile. "Well, you've come to the right place. We have a range of goods for adventurers like yourselves. What specifically are you looking for?"
Simon steps forward, eager to contribute. "We could use some traveling gear, like backpacks, bedrolls, and rations." Linene nods, her expression business-like yet attentive. "Very well. I have a selection of backpacks and camping gear over there." she says. Vayle considers their options, weighing the value and practicality of each item. He turns to Simon, silently seeking his input. Simon nods, indicating his agreement with the choices presented. "We'll take two backpacks, bedrolls, and a week's worth of rations." Vayle informs Linene. Linene retrieves the requested items from the shelves behind her, expertly arranging them on the counter. "That'll be 9 gold pieces." She states, her tone firm but fair. (Removed 9gp)
Vayle and Simon exchange a glance, confirming their readiness to make the purchase. Vayle retrieves the necessary gold pieces and places them on the counter, completing the transaction. "Thank you for your business." Linene says with a professional nod. "May your journey be successful, and should you require any further supplies, you know where to find us."
Vayle and Simon express their gratitude and bid farewell, their newly acquired equipment and provisions in tow. As they exit the Lionshield Coster, they feel better equipped and more prepared for the challenges that await them, their spirits bolstered by the professionalism and reliability of their encounter with Linene Graywind. As Vayle and Simon listen to Linene's words, their brows furrow with concern. The news of the bandit raids on Lionshield caravans weighs heavily upon them, understanding the impact it must have on the local trade and the livelihoods of those involved. They exchange a glance, silently agreeing that they should do their part to help.
Vayle steps forward, his voice carrying a sense of determination. "We did come across a shipment of Lionshield supplies during our recent encounters." He begins, catching Linene's attention. "However, the goods are currently held within a Goblin hideout not far from here."
Linene's eyes narrow, her tone a mix of anticipation and caution. "If you're able to retrieve the stolen goods and bring them back, I am willing to offer a reward of 50 gold pieces. It would be a great relief to have those supplies back in our hands."
Vayle nods in understanding, appreciating the weight of the situation. "We'll do our best to recover the stolen goods and bring them back to you." He assures Linene. "Phandalin will not suffer from the actions of these bandits if we can help it." With their commitment made, Vayle and Simon bid farewell to Linene, their minds already focused on the task ahead.

Vayle notices Halia's lingering presence outside her trading post as he and Simon make their way towards the Stonehill Inn. He can sense the intensity of her gaze and the resentment in her expression. It's clear that she holds a grudge towards him for thwarting whatever plans she had in mind involving Simon. Simon, on the other hand, does his best to avoid looking in Halia's direction, perhaps hoping to avoid any further confrontation.
Vayle maintains his composure, not allowing Halia's hostility to affect him. He understands that his actions may have disrupted her intentions, but he remains steadfast in his commitment to protect Simon and the town of Phandalin. With a calm demeanor, Vayle silently leads the way towards the inn, focusing on the task at hand and putting Halia's ill feelings aside for now.
As they enter the Stonehill Inn, Vayle exhales a small sigh of relief, feeling a sense of sanctuary within the familiar surroundings. The inn's warm and welcoming atmosphere helps alleviate the tension from their encounter with Halia. They find a table, settle themselves comfortably, and order a meal to replenish their energy for the journey ahead.

Trilena Stonehill approaches Vayle and Simon's table, a warm smile gracing her lips as she sets their meal before them. Her presence brings a momentary respite from the lingering tension caused by Halia's earlier encounter. Vayle's attention is immediately drawn to Trilena's kind and caring demeanor, momentarily forgetting the outside world.
With practiced efficiency, Trilena serves their meal, making sure everything is to their liking. Vayle can't help but notice that she has added a special touch to his dish, an extra garnish or a unique seasoning that sets it apart. It's a small gesture, but one that doesn't go unnoticed by him. As she finishes arranging the plates, Vayle looks up at Trilena, a sense of gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you, Ms. Stonehill." He says, choosing to use the formal title out of respect for her and her family. Though a tinge of sadness briefly flickers across Trilena's face, she nods understandingly, appreciating Vayle's consideration.
Trilena maintains a professional yet warm demeanor, not letting her personal emotions overshadow her commitment to providing a pleasant dining experience. She offers a genuine smile, her eyes reflecting a depth of understanding beyond words. "You're most welcome, Vayle." Trilena replies softly, her voice carrying a mix of kindness and empathy. "Enjoy your meal, and if there's anything else you need, please don't hesitate to let me know." With that, Trilena bids them farewell, leaving Vayle and Simon to savor their food in the cozy atmosphere of the inn. The bittersweet exchange with Trilena lingers in Vayle's thoughts.
Little do they know that Trilena, too, carries her own burdens and a longing for something more. For now, their paths intersect in this small moment of shared understanding, where a simple exchange of gratitude speaks volumes, reminding them of the unspoken connections that bind them together in the tapestry of Phandalin's story.

Vayle's heart sinks as he witnesses the deteriorating state of Mirna, her weakened voice conveying the urgency of the situation. He takes a step closer, his eyes filled with compassion and determination to fulfill her final request. As she struggles to sit up, Vayle gently places a hand on her shoulder, urging her to conserve her energy. "I am really sorry that I never got to properly thank you for saving my family." Says Mirna with a raspy voice.
"No need to apologize, Mirna. Saving your family was my duty, and I'm glad I could help." Vayle says, his voice filled with sincerity. He listens intently as Mirna reveals the hidden emerald necklace. "If you ever go to Thundertree, look for an alchemy shop there, inside, look for a case containing an emerald necklace that was hidden beneath a section of storage shelves." Vayle makes a mental note to retrieve it and fulfill her wish.
Mirna's hand trembles in Vayle's grasp, her gaze fixed on his. "Please, find it and keep it to yourself." She implores, her voice fading with each word. Vayle nods, a mixture of determination and sorrow etched on his face. "I promise, Mirna. I will find the necklace and return it to you."
As Trilena and Sister Garaele try to intervene and ensure Mirna's comfort, Vayle is gently guided out of the room by Sister Garaele. The weight of the situation hangs heavily upon them both. Vayle's confusion dissipates as Sister Garaele mentions Athelas, or Kingsfoil, a rare herb known for its healing properties. Vayle tells Sister Garaele that he has never seen it, but that it is a rare herb that only grows in in the jungles of Chult. Far away to the south.
"Agatha has some, you say?" Vayle responds, a mixture of surprise and realization dawning on him. "If it can save Mirna, I will do whatever it takes." He looks at Sister Garaele, gratitude and determination shining in his eyes. "If Agatha possesses Athelas, I will retrieve it from her home."
Sister Garaele leans in, placing a gentle kiss on Vayle's temple, a gesture filled with both affection and encouragement. Vayle, though momentarily caught off guard, finds solace in her support. He nods solemnly. "May the Goddess watch over us all. I will return as swiftly as possible with the Athelas." Trilena seeing the tender gesture, her expression briefly clouded with a mix of surprise and sadness, quickly composes herself and approaches Sister Garaele with a concerned look. She discreetly clears her throat to gain the sister's attention, keeping her voice low and respectful. "Sister Garaele." Trilena whispers, her eyes flickering briefly towards Vayle before returning to the sister's face. "I'm afraid Mirna's condition is deteriorating rapidly. She needs your presence."
Sister Garaele, aware of Trilena's unspoken understanding, nods gravely. She places a gentle hand on Trilena's arm, conveying her gratitude for the silent discretion. "Thank you, Trilena. I will be with Mirna right away."
Understanding the weight of the moment, Trilena steps back, her gaze briefly meeting Vayle's with a mixture of sympathy and respect. She offers him a faint, understanding smile before turning her attention back to the task at hand. Vayle, though aware of Trilena's witnessing of the intimate moment, chooses not to address it at this time. He acknowledges her unspoken understanding and silently appreciates her tact. With a nod of gratitude, he conveys his appreciation for her discretion before turning to continue his preparations for the journey ahead.

Vayle and Simon finally arrive at Conyberry, a town that has long been abandoned and now lies in ruins. The devastation wrought by barbarian raiders from years past is evident in every crumbling structure and broken wall. As they step into the town, the air is heavy with an eerie silence, broken only by the soft whispers of the wind through the decaying remains. Nature has begun to reclaim the once bustling streets and buildings, with ivy climbing the walls and weeds sprouting through the cracks in the cobblestones.
The houses, once vibrant homes, now stand as dilapidated shells, their roofs caved in and their walls partially collapsed. Broken furniture and remnants of personal belongings are scattered about, a haunting reminder of the lives that were abruptly disrupted. The central square, where merchants would have once peddled their wares, now lies desolate and overgrown. The fountain in the center, once a source of life and beauty, is now cracked and dry, its intricate carvings barely visible through the layers of moss and dirt. The remnants of a town hall stand at the far end of the square, its grandeur diminished by time and neglect. The windows are shattered, and the doors hang loosely from their hinges, creaking eerily in the wind. A sense of sorrow and loss permeates the air, as if the echoes of past lives still linger among the ruins.
As Vayle and Simon explore the desolate streets, they can't help but feel a mixture of awe and melancholy. The silence is haunting, and the remnants of a once-thriving community serve as a stark reminder of the transient nature of life. Nature, however, has not completely surrendered to the decay. Vibrant wildflowers and tall grasses have taken root among the ruins, offering a small glimmer of beauty amidst the desolation. Birds chirp in the distance, their songs a poignant contrast to the town's silent tragedy.
Vayle and Simon tread cautiously, their footsteps the only sound in the abandoned town. They know that hidden dangers may still lurk within the ruins, remnants of the barbarian raiders or other creatures seeking refuge in the forgotten corners of Conyberry. But amidst the devastation, there is a sense of opportunity and purpose. Vayle and Simon have come to this forsaken place in search of answers, to uncover the secrets that may hold the key to their quests. With determination in their hearts, they press forward, their eyes scanning the ruins for any sign of the clues they seek. Conyberry, once a vibrant town, now stands as a testament to the fragility of civilization and the relentless march of time. It is a somber reminder of the power of destruction and the resilience of those who strive to rebuild and reclaim what was lost.

The forest grows dark and still as the trail winds deeper into the trees. Heavy vines and thick layers of moss drape the branches, and the air is noticeably colder than it was in the ruined village. Rounding a bend in the trail, you see a screen made from the warped branches of trees standing close together, woven into a domelike shelter in the shadows. A low doorway leads inside.
Following the old trail that leads northwest into Neverwinter Wood, Vayle and Simon move cautiously through the dense foliage. The air grows thick with a sense of foreboding as they delve deeper into the ancient forest. The sunlight filters through the canopy above, casting ethereal patterns on the forest floor. Vayle's senses sharpen as he taps into his Primeval Awareness, allowing him to detect the presence of the Undead creature he believes to be Agatha. His instincts guide him, leading him through the winding paths and overgrown thickets, always staying alert to any signs of danger.
As they venture further, the forest becomes eerily quiet, save for the occasional rustle of leaves or the distant hoot of an owl. The scent of damp earth and decaying leaves hangs in the air, mingling with the musky fragrance of the surrounding flora. They come across an ancient stone structure, partly hidden by the encroaching vegetation. The remnants of moss-covered walls and crumbling pillars give a glimpse of its former grandeur. Vayle senses that this must be Agatha's lair, a place where the ethereal being resides. Approaching the entrance with caution, Vayle and Simon find themselves standing before a weathered wooden door. Its surface bears the scars of time, worn by years of exposure to the elements. Vayle takes a deep breath, steadying his nerves, as he prepares to face Agatha.
With a gentle push, the door creaks open, revealing a dimly lit interior. The air is thick with an otherworldly energy, and a faint, ethereal glow emanates from deep within the chamber. Shadows dance on the walls, seemingly alive in the gloom. Taking slow, deliberate steps, Vayle and Simon venture into the lair. Their senses are on high alert, anticipating the encounter with Agatha, the mysterious and powerful entity they seek. The anticipation weighs heavy in the air, mingled with a mix of trepidation and curiosity.
They proceed further, guided by Vayle's intuition and the presence he senses. The surroundings become more ethereal, with the air humming with arcane energy. Finally, they arrive at a chamber where Agatha awaits, her form taking shape amidst the misty atmosphere. Vayle and Simon stand before Agatha, ready to present their query and seek the answers they so desperately seek. The encounter with this ancient being holds the potential to unveil crucial information and set them on the path towards their goals. The atmosphere in Agatha's lair is filled with an otherworldly aura, a meeting point between the mundane and the supernatural. Vayle and Simon brace themselves, prepared to engage in a delicate negotiation, hoping that Agatha will be willing to share her knowledge and aid them in their quests.

Carp has always been an inquisitive and spirited child. I'm glad he could assist in a meaningful way." With a final nod and a warm smile, Vayle bids farewell to Qelline and Carp.

Elara returns his nod, understanding the importance of the task at hand. "Of course, Vayle. Take all the time you need. Simon has become a trusted companion, and I'm sure his contributions will be significant."
Vayle's gratitude shines through his words as he addresses Elara. "I want to express my sincere appreciation for all your efforts, Elara. The way you have dedicated yourself to the defense of Phandalin is commendable. With Sildar's permission, I believe you would make an excellent captain of the town's defense."
Elara's eyes widen slightly in surprise and then a smile tugs at the corners of her lips. "Thank you, Vayle. I'm honored by your trust and the opportunity. I will strive to lead with determination and protect Phandalin to the best of my abilities." Vayle's gaze shifts to Nilsa, concern flickering in his eyes.

Vayle and Simon exchange surprised glances as they see Droop, the Goblin they had encountered in the Redbrand hideout, assisting Elsa, the barmaid, in serving the patrons of the Stonehill Inn. Droop's sudden appearance before them brings a mix of curiosity and intrigue. As Droop approaches the table, a wide smile stretches across his face, his eyes gleaming with a sense of pride and accomplishment. "Droop help!" he exclaims, his voice filled with eagerness.
Vayle and Simon exchange puzzled looks, trying to comprehend the unexpected turn of events. Vayle speaks up, his voice laced with curiosity. "Droop, you're helping out here at the inn?" Droop nods enthusiastically, his wiry frame bouncing with enthusiasm. "Yes, yes! Droop help Elsa now. She good to Droop. Droop want to be useful."

As Vayle and Simon finish their meals, Vayle looks up and catches Trilena's gaze. He offers her a warm smile, filled with genuine appreciation for the evening they have spent at the Stonehill Inn. Rising from his seat, he approaches Trilena with a respectful demeanor. "Thank you, Ms. Stonehill." Vayle says, his voice carrying a gentle tone. "We had a wonderful evening. The food was delicious, and your hospitality made it even more enjoyable."
Trilena's eyes light up with a mixture of gratitude and a touch of wistfulness. She nods, her smile radiating warmth. "I'm glad you enjoyed your time here, Vayle. It's always a pleasure to have you and Simon as our guests."
Vayle's gaze holds a hint of melancholy, acknowledging the memories associated with the inn and its proprietors. "The Stonehill Inn holds a special place in our hearts, and your family has been a pillar of this community. We appreciate everything you do." Trilena's expression softens, a glimmer of nostalgia in her eyes. "Thank you, Vayle. It means a lot to hear those words."
Vayle bows slightly, a gesture of respect and gratitude. "Please extend our thanks to Toblen as well." Trilena nods, her eyes reflecting a depth of understanding. "I will, Vayle. And remember, the Stonehill Inn will always be here for you whenever you need it." With a final nod, Vayle takes his leave. As he rejoins Simon, they make their way to their room.

Vayle, roused from his slumber by the familiar voices echoing through the inn's hallway, steps out of his room and instinctively follows the sound. As he reaches the source, he sees Trilena and Sister Garaele engaged in a hushed conversation, their expressions laced with concern. Sensing his presence, Sister Garaele's eyes meet Vayle's, and she motions for him to join them.
Curiosity piqued, Vayle enters the room where Mirna, recently reunited with her children, is staying. The atmosphere within is heavy, and he can feel the weight of their worries hanging in the air. Vayle's gaze shifts from Trilena to Sister Garaele, silently seeking an explanation for the somberness that has enveloped the room.
