"When you want to find me, just look for the best fighting rings in Depths, Cogs, or Lower Dura. It would be a pleasure to see you play your violin, beautiful young lady," Boho smiles at Rylia, then turns to Bryn. "You too, handsome lad. Take good care of that sapphire," he adds with a wink.
The gryphon soars around Bryn and Rylia before heading toward where Leo stands.
"Let's go, Captain, let's fix your Amelia," Boho shouts to Leo that nods in agreement. Leo waves to you, and follows Boho in his gryphon as they make their way ahead.
"I don't think we have anything to carry," Rylia says to the warforged. "What's your name? I don't think I caught it earlier." She sticks close to Bryn, ready to follow up to the blue chamber.
If they get a chance to talk on the way up to the designated meeting spot, Bryn will compare notes with Rylia about their gryphon ride, sharing his own exhilaration and joy at flying. But his natural rogue instincts also keep track of where they are, where they go, and anything interesting on the way!
"My name is Adam, miss" the warforged replies with an unexpectedly calm voice. While waiting Braxiel comes from where the ship departs. Rylia, Bryn, and Coltinar notice that Adam´s form is more streamlined and sleek than the typical warforged. His metallic body is composed of a distinct alloy, darker than the usual steel, with an almost silvery. His features are finely crafted, with angular lines and sharp edges that give him a distinctive appearance.
Closer, Rylia can observe his blue eyes shine with a piercing blue light, a stark contrast to the muted tones of his body.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Adam. We can carry our stuff, don´t worry and thank you for the offer. For now, we just need you to lead us to where our injured friends are, please! We are very worried about them" Coltinar says in a distressed voice.
"Pleasure to meet you as well Adam," Rylia responds to their guide. "You have such beautiful eyes."
As they go and Bryn mentions the gryphon ride, Rylia is more than willing to talk about it. She can't help but talk in superlatives as she describes every bit. "That first time we turned sharply to descend, I could just feel this moment of hollow excitement filled with exhilaration the next moment as we swooped the other direction. I wonder how much training it takes to learn to fly those creatures. Wouldn't that just be amazing to have your own gryphon? Ah, maybe someday."
Adam leads Rylia, Bryn, Braxiel, and Coltinar through the grand gate. //--- DM Assuming that Braxiel joined the group---//
As you approach, you see the inscription "Cannith Enclave" above the gate in steel letters. The interior reveals imposing structures. To the right stands the tall tower that was visible from above, to the left, an equally imposing building with a steel plaque that reads "Canith Forgehold" and further back, a smaller and discreet but no less beautiful building. The grandeur and beauty of the place contrast with what you saw in the surrounding areas, at least from what you could observe from above while flying.
Entering the forge, the sight is impressive. The structure is majestic, with high stone walls and an imposing entrance. The main door is open and leads to a large entrance hall where two men are stacking massive wooden crates with city names inscribed on them. The temperature here seems almost unbearable, nearing 40 degrees Celsius/100 degrees Fahrenheit.
"This way," says Adam, opening a door to the left, the only closed door at the entrance hall. This door leads to a corridor that ends with another door. Upon opening this door, they enter a new corridor with three more doors, two on the left and one on the right. Adam heads to the right till the end of the corridor where there is a closed door that seems made of a kind of dark glass. It is closed. He stands in front of the door, giving it a light knock. "Master Arber, your visitors are here." A female voice responds from inside. "Come in."
While being recovered, The Paladin has a vision of a celestial female human of dazzling beauty. She is tall and ethereal, with long golden hair flowing like rays of sunlight, her skin radiating with divine luminance, and her deep eyes have the color of the purest blue, reflecting wisdom and divine sense. Dressed in flowing white robes adorned with golden details that emitted their own light, she exuds a celestial aura.
She and Paladin stand facing each other. In a solemn gesture, the woman touch the flame engraved on the Paladin's forehead.
"I have plans for you, my warrior," she speaks with a melodious and reassuring voice. "But you need to find your true path. You haven't done it yet! Seek the light, and your sword will bring justice to the righteous."
The woman begins to rise gently, and something extraordinary happen. She intertwins with the figure of a majestic winged serpent, whose feathers shine with dazzling splendor. The woman figure disappears completely and the beautiful winged serpent ascend into the heavens, transforming into beams of bright light that bathes the Paladin.
Paladin open his eyes. Hello, Sir! How are you feeling? inquired the female warforged attending to him. "I hope you are feeling better. I have repaired your damaged components, but you still need a long rest to fully recover. During the examination, I observed some unusual formations, so I would ask you please to stay here and rest while you waiting for Master Arber. He is currently with your friend"
Master Arber emerges from the area separated by a curtain, and you could see the silhouette of Arr lying on another suspended table.
Arber approaches a nearby shelf, which is lined with various vials, each neatly labeled and organized. His eyes scans the collection and he selects several vials. The illumination in the room enhanced the deep, thoughtful lines on his aged face.
He then turns to the female warforged who was attending to Paladin and inquires about Paladin's condition. She recounts the details of Paladin's injuries, the repairs conducted, and the unusual formation that needed his attention.
"Hmmm, let me take these to the other one. I shall return shortly."
Master Arber disappears behind the curtain for a few minutes, tending to Arr. "This is not possible! This... cannot be possible"You listen to his voice in the other side. Some minutes go by and he returned to where Paladin is resting.
Once reaching the room where Paladin is being tended by the female warforged, Rylia watches what happens with little understanding. As Master Arber steps back over to attend to Arr, she asks, "How is Paladin doing? I know you just said... stuff.. to Master Arber. But is Paladin recovering? What's it mean he has an unusual formation."
Bryn's attention is captured by Master Arber's exclamation behind the curtain with Arr...for a master crafter to state something is outside of his experience must be an astounding thing indeed.
Arber had prepared a mixture of elixirs and administered it to Arr to help stabilize his condition. Arr now was stable, but had their eyes closed, in a kind of semi-conscious state. Maybe because of the elixirs beginning to take effect, maybe because of the colors and lights in the room, Arr´s mind was transported into a dream, although it is known that Warforged don´t dream.
The Arr´s Dream
Arr, you are in the laboratory of Forgewright Canith, in Cyre, a place that once stood as one of the most crucial facilities in all of Khorvaire and perhaps all of Eberron. There is a middle-aged, tall, and slender human with dark hair but almost all becoming silver. He is a figure of commanding presence, dressed in attire that blends functionality and elegance. His hands, though wrinkled with age, radiated dexterity and skill. He is smiling at you. "You will become like me, Rank!"
A beautiful halfling with delicate features and a captivating smile stands on the other side. She exudes warmth and friendliness, with silky brown hair cascading in loose curls over her shoulders. Now you are on a bed looking at an elderly half-bald male human, whose sharp, intelligent gaze stands out beneath his graying eyebrows and carefully trimmed white beard. A blue energy comes out of the elderly man´s hands towards your chest. You stand up and you four share stories, laugh together...
There is a table with many scrolls on it. You see the Cannith symbol in many of them. But some have other symbol with a majestic golden griffon, wings outstretched, in the act of landing. Surrounding it, is a laurel wreath, forming a circular frame. Above the wreath, two hands gracefully embrace its top.
In a subsequent moment, the man shows you a bright blue-sapphire stone. The images begin to dissipate... something disturbs the peaceful flow... A sense of tension grows... A massive explosion breaks in... you are thrown back with great force, while you see a shimmer in the distance.
Arr abruptly awake, shouting. The shouts echo in the entire room. "Merrix! Lia! Arber!"
Glad to see his companion alive, Braxiel hides this level of care by saying, “Where is the manticore spike that was in him? I would like to examine it."
"It never ceases to amaze me, the new things waiting for me. New, old things. I think I'd much rather learn what is happening with Arr just now, but remind me to tell you a story later. I believe I have had a vision, one of healing and divine purpose. Something I could use a lot of, with how Arr is doing."
In a fluid motion, Arr jump off the table but realise immediately that they are weakened and quickly they take hold on another shelf and thereby toppling a few implements that Arber had placed there.
With their eyes wide open, they wildly turn their head to scan the room, though not in a way that suggests they register anything, “What? What happened? Where are we?” Even louder they bellow in rage, “Merrix! Lia! Arber!”
Listen to Arr's distressed shout and the clatter of things being knocked over, Master Arber swiftly moved to the scene.
"Rank, don't get up," he urged firmly. "You're not ready to stand yet." He approached Arr, guiding them back to the bed, and handed them a thick, red liquid from a flask. "You'll need to wait a bit for the potions to take effect. I´m so glad you are here, son! I thought I would never see you again!" The old man says with a kind voice.
The warforged who had been attending to Paladin was the only one who caught Braxiel's inquiry. "The spikes have been removed by the master," she responded. "They should still be there with him." The warforged immediately shifted her attention away from the elf when she heard Arber's voice.
"Ada, could you please bring me my red bag?"Arber requested.
Ada swiftly appeared with a small red leather case and opened it fully on the table. Inside, there were various stones of different colors and sizes neatly organized. Arber selected three hexagonal stones with very light hues, resembling crystals, and lined them up beneath Arr's torso before covering them with a white sheet.
"As soon as you recover a bit, we need to take a look at that shoulder of yours"Arber explained. "I've applied a temporary patch, but it's better to leave the full repair to our armourers. We can also perform some maintenance on your plates. What do you think?" he asked with a smile.
//---DM At this point the curtains are open and all of you can listen to this conversation. After some minutes Arr will recover half of HP. ---//
Arr follow the instructions of the familiar voice and sits back up at the table. „Arber?“ They ask uncertain. „What happened? I thought we all died. The explosion… What happened? Where are we? Where is Merix and Lia?“ Arr squint at everyone else in the room and continues, „We had a strange dream, that we woke on a junkyard and lived on scraps. And then met some fascinating people, who took us in selflessly and tried to show us a new place for us in a new world. Until we were attacked and died. What could be the meaning of this dream, Arber?“ Their eyes remain focused on Coltinar with a somewhat puzzled expression.
"Arr, It's me , brother Coltinar, my friend! I thank you to Dol Arrah to hear your voice" Coltinar holds his amulet and make a pray. Then he asks to Arber: "You call Arr for another name. Do you know each other? Who is Merrix and Lia? Do you know these people? Arr know these people?"
"Nice to meet you, sir... Yes, I've known this warforged for a long time. We thought he hadn't survived the incident that destroyed Cyre," Arber responded, stepping back a bit from Arr's bedside.
"His memory is confused, now, likely locked with fragments from the day of the destruction. I'm trying to stabilize it, but memories might remain jumbled for a few hours or even a day or two."
"I see you are a follower of the Host! It is a blessing to be able to count on the grace of our Sovereigns." As Coltinar introduces himself and listens to Arber, he notices that the old man has an amulet around his neck with the symbol of Onatar, the Sovereign of fire and forge.
Master Arber then introduced himself to all. "Pleasure to meet all of you. Lady Elaydren tasked me with receiving you today, so I was already expecting you. I didn't expect you to arrive in this manner, nor I didn´t expect to encounter someone who believed we had already lost."
"About Merrix... Well, he is referring to Merrix d'Cannith. Perhaps you've heard about him. Not the grandson but the grandfather. Some called him Merrix the Mad. He was incredibly intelligent. He was the creator of the Warforged. He was the creator of R4G3... Rank, as we affectionately called him." "You called him Arr, is that it? Is that what they call it now? Arber smiled when Coltinar agreed. "It makes sense…" "Lia... well, Lia was... was... was a friend. She gave Rank... Arr," he corrected himself with a smile, "She gave to Arr some good things that made him such... a good creature."
"Merrix was a brilliant artificer known for his skills in magic and engineering, who had the revolutionary idea of creating the Warforged during the Hundred Years' War. His son Aaren d'Cannith later, along with Merrix, was responsible for making them sentient and giving them wisdom. However, Aaren opposed what he saw as abuse and slavery of the Warforged. He always protested vigorously until the day he was expelled from the house, disappearing without a trace."
"Merrix was a truly brilliant artificer known for his skills in magic and his passion for engineering. He had always been involved in construct creation, and during the Hundred Years' War, it was his idea to craft artificial beings to fight in the wars, thus sparing the lives of soldiers. Working alongside the best artificers and engineers of House Cannith, Merrix's initial concept was refined and perfected. His son, Aaren d'Cannith, later joined Merrix in the mission to make them sentient and bestow wisdom upon them. These creations were not just soldiers; they were tireless warriors, free from the inherent weaknesses of biology. A perfect fusion of stone, metal, wood, and high-level arcane magic gave birth to beings capable of enduring the harshest of battles, far more potent than any human. And thus, the Warforged came into existence.
However, Aaren vehemently opposed what he perceived as the abuse and enslavement of the Warforged. He protested tirelessly until he was expelled from the house, vanishing without a trace.
With his son's disappearance, Merrix became fixated on the idea of making his creation more 'human.' He did some initiatives to develop ´more organic´ Warforged. Ran... Arr is the son of one of these initiatives." Arber concludes.
„You were in my dream,“ Arr continue staring at Coltinar, „Or are we still dreaming?“ his gaze changes to focus on Arber who began elaborating on their father, „Or was the dream with you?“ They stammer, „we need.. we need a moment,“ and only listens peripherally to Arber‘s familiar discourse, while they observe each person in the room. „You‘re Paladin,“he states looking at their wardrobes friend, „we’re close, I can feel that. It cannot only have been a dream. And Brother Coltinar, who showed us a path back into the light.“ They stiffly turn their head and Rylia, Bryn and Braxiel come into view, „The illustrious musician and the brilliant actor, and our friend the ever-curious scholar, are all here!“ They exclaim with a sudden realization sparkling in their eyes. „We must have been dreaming about you! Master Arber!“

„You‘re Paladin,“ he states looking at their wardrobes friend, „we’re close, I can feel that.
