Gendan sits looking out the window. She dismisses her pact blade and pulls a dagger out of the thin air. Then drops the dagger and it disappears, she grabs makes a fist and a throwing axe appears in her hand. She keeps staring out the window and summoning different small weapons, to be sure she has a really good feel for this new blessing from her fiend patron. By the end of the ride, she has summoned another longsword and sheathed it.
After a long flight, the carriage flies over a valley close to a desert. Shortly after, it descends and lands in a village. Many of the crops have been burnt. There are bodies littering the floor. However, most of the orcs seemed to have been busy fighting off undead before breaking into a house and killing the spell caster responsible. The village is in shambles. Burnt houses and broken houses, destroyed granaries and lots of death. You look around and notice most of the children had been taken. There are very few children corpses in the place. A few villagers that are still alive and unscathed are howling and crying over the loss. The orcs left... for now.
Before, Devarus returns Runts scowl with an awkward smile. "You have me there, Young Runt. Fortunate, then, that we are on our way somewhere to test us all, eh?" He gives a grandfatherly chuckle, but refrains from pushing for more conversation. Even his usual eagerness to launch into some half-remembered story is kept in check for everyone's else sake.
Later...
Once the half-drow saw the devastation he grew just a little pale; only to quickly muster his resolve in a deep breathe. If walks over to the nearest villager that appeared to have recovered the most, and address them. "Excuse me, I... Devarus. Adventure's guild, Sydil branch. I need -- I know now is a horrid time. But I need cooperation if we are to bring those responsible for this to justice."
(The one time I forget to ask about starting with healer's kit purchased. lol.)
Devarus nods appreciatively. "We need to know two main things. Do you or anyone here know where they live exactly? And how long ago did they leave?" He asks, and once he has at least those answers he turns to the others to see if any had more to put forth. As well as he hid it, Devarus was at something of a loss while trying to push out the background sound of ongoing wails and curses from the populace.

The man looks he is quite shaken by the whole affair but manages to answer. "In Vitmore Valley. They have a cave there. They all should be in the base now."
The elf druid has been silent during all the trip in the carriage, exchanging a couple of words with Catherine, he is just enjoying the fresh air and the sun after all that time underground.
When they reach the sacked village his look becomes stern.
"If we don't we take them one by one if necessary, but I can't help to wonder. Why they are doing this? Why break their truce and in this horrible way." he turns to the villager " Do you know what can possibly cause this? Anyone visiting them at their cave before the attacks started? any adventurer party passed the village? Any merchant that could had made a deal with them? "
The villager shakes his head before struggling to get a few words out. His shook mental state shows as he takes long breaths and pauses every now and then while talking. "Their cave is half a day on foot. They come here once every two weeks... A small team of 4 is always stationed here... They stand watch in rotation. The current rotation was caught of guard when their own friends attacked. Those orcs didn't know what was happening and stood confused for a bit... Then they joined the battle against their own clan members after one of the invading orcs attacked them without reason... They were cut down by their own clansmen in the end... The attack happened suddenly... Don't know what caused it."
Devarus again nods and gets back to his feet. "A good while back there was a request from an Orc chief -- a different one -- to the guild, if memories serves me right that could be related."He frowns. "It is as you say. Better we move sooner than later; especially while there not expecting us. Uh... any of you folk are particular skilled in tracking? I was told somethings, but..." He shrugs helplessly and soon after finds himself looking to Runt.

*What if you wanted to use tracking skills but the DM said "Lol Nope"*
Shitty jokes aside, since everyone wants to go hunt down the orcs we'll go with that. Tracking is not necessary though since some other villagers inform you of the location of the cave.

You guys walk through Vitmore Valley, the mountains standing imposingly on both sides. As the sun rises higher and the dark shadows gives way to blue skies, you see it an Cave sticking out of the mountain surface. The slope leading up to it is going to be tricky to get into it but not impossible (difficult terrain).
Val leads the party with his tracking skills. Everyone roll perception against DC 12. Elsara's Perception: 9
As you approach the cave entrance, you notice a group of about 4 Orcs standing guard with shields and javelins. These orcs look a bit different from your average orcs. They seemed much larger and more muscular than normal. You can see the veins clearly from beneath their skin. Their eyes were bloodshot, breathing heavy and mouths slightly but surely foamy. As they see you they let out a huge, monstrous, bloodcurdling roar that would send chills down the spines of even the most grizzled adventurer. Roll Initiative.
Dirt road(-); Rock surface(=); Slope(/): Difficult terrain, costs 3 times normal movement; Cave entrance(@); Natural flat surface/platform(.) White space is added just to make the map less cluttered. It's terrain is the same as what it is surrounded by.
Anything colored red indicates that it is dead and can be walked over. Anything colored orange indicates it is rolling death-saves or is stable and unconscious.
Rock surface(=) Can be climbed with DC18 Athletics - Action to use Climbing tools will reduce DC to 14;
For Slopes(/), Athletics check to negate effects of difficult terrain (DC10: 2x normal movement, DC15 Normal Movement, Failure: Lose remaining movement)
