“Please Elsara do it, that sounds like an intelligent thing to do.” Says Val to his friend while looking interested to the weird thing the Dragon Knight is showing to them.
( Can I roll something to see if Val recognizes it or have heard about anything like it before?)
No. It is so foreign that it's like it's not even from the planet (kind of like how some deep sea creatures in the real world look so weird that they look like they came from space or something). However, you can try to roll Arcana to see if you can figure something out about the individual parts it is made of.
Once Elsara has her Detect Magic active, she'll glance around the nearby vicinity to ensure nothing too abruptly close is magical she wasn't expecting. "Okay, ready!" She calls. "Well, I read that adventuring should always keep to the left passages, so hug the left wall?"
Runt readies her hammer just in case. She would be happy to fight alongside Gendan again. And maybe she could take measure of her other companions as well.
I assume, like most who need protection, that we are not looking to start a fight. but to be prepared if one finds us ?

Briggs nods and says, "Exactly. I'm hoping we can get in and out without even having to swing our sword but I highly doubt that will be the case."
The party, according to Elsara's suggestion, Hug the left wall. They end up walking north through the wooden gates. There the road splits in two. One goes east and the other west. The eastern road is blocked by another wooden gate. This one is guarded by two kobolds. They eye you with suspicion but Briggs says something to them in Draconic and they seem to be a little more at ease.
Kobolds: Why do you bring so many soldiers with you? Briggs: It is for our protection. We mean you no harm. We are just passing by. We will try to go left. Kobold: Be careful of the Snake men. They are not to be trusted.
Going Further East you find yourself in the presence of another wooden gate. This one is guarded by two Yuan Ti. They hiss and raise their weapons at you. They exchange a few words with Briggs in Draconic.
Yuan Ti: Halt! You promised to only be passing through. Now you brought soldiers to kill us! Briggs: It's nothing like that at all we are just passing through. Yuan Ti: Beyond lies our queen. We cannot let you pass. Either leave all your weapons and armor or turn back.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Briggs produces some paper work and says (in draconic)
These people are part of an organization for exploring caves and ruins. They have no war weapons. We are not here to purge this place's inhabitants. All we need is some protection from monsters. Which is why they are here.

The Yuan Ti look at you at lets you go through.
Heading further down the hall past the wooden gates, you come to a 4-way intersection. As you approach, those of you with darkvision notices some Yuan-Ti children run away and disappear into the darkness as soon as you guys get into their vision.
There are various doors lining both sides of of all 3 halls (except the one to the west where you came from). Some of the rooms that connect to theses doors also have windows the halls. You can hear slithering and what sounds like heavy snakes move across floor in the shadows and you get glimpses of serpentine figures as the flickering light from Barry's Torch briefly illuminate them. Those with Darkvision can identify the figures as a few Yuan-ti Malisons with one Yuan-ti Abomination.
The 3 Halls disappear in the darkness (More than 60ft). You can see some light shining from around the corner from the hall you came from. This light is from the torches set up back at camp. The intersection you are standing in has some clay toys and colored chalk on the floor. There are also crude drawings on the floor made by said chalk. Two of the Yuan-ti Abomination in the southern room eye you cautiously from the shadows. They have their swords at the ready. It seems that they are prepared to jump out and attack you if you attack some of their people first or do anything dubious. The two Yuan ti guards who opened the gate for you are still over there. You can see them if you look at the west hall.
When the group moves past the kobolds, Elsara smiles and waves to them. When they are talking with the Yuan-Ti, Elsara whispers to the others to translate what is going on. She looks the yuan-ti up and down with her Detect Magic to determine if they are using any magic, but gives them a genuine smile as they approach, curious about these serpent folk as it is the first time she has met them.
Elsara, you do not detect anything innately magical about the snake people or their equipment. However you can feel a strange sort of feeling around them thanks to Detect Magic.
Elsara takes a while to figure it out but connects it to her past experience with the angel statue.
These snake folk aren't directly influenced by any magic but you can say that they have been living in and off of a place that has a lot of magical energy around. The magic seems to have "rubbed off" on them. As for the type of magic, it is not from any school that she can recognize but it's also not from Affectus Uti.

Magic is a fickle master. I prefer to trust only the strength of my body.

So, I'm guessing Elsara gets to cast Detect Magic.
With that dealt with, which way is the party going to go?
(If Elsara's allowed to make it, Arcana: 8)
Once Elsara has her Detect Magic active, she'll glance around the nearby vicinity to ensure nothing too abruptly close is magical she wasn't expecting. "Okay, ready!" She calls. "Well, I read that adventuring should always keep to the left passages, so hug the left wall?"
Elsara, you can't figure anything out about the object, it's still quite alien to you.
At Elsara's comment, Briggs and Barry just stare at you.
Val starts walking towards the direction that Elsara just said trying to figure out something about the weird object.

Val, you don't really figure anything out except that it doesn't look natural or that it should belong to a normal Water Elemental.
"We should be really careful, this thing isn't natural... and when the natural order is beign disturbed... bad things happens..."

Gendan will go in the direction Elsara suggested. Her sword and shield are drawn.

Val walks with his hands away from his weapons and let the two leaders guide them towards the Yuan-ti zone.

Elsara keeps the knowledge to herself until they are through. Seems like a sensitive subject and she doesn't want to provoke the scary snake people.
