Elsara, after getting this information, will hasten to Mr. Sweetcane's office to advise to the school name. Perhaps his contacts will be able to research the school better with the grand libraries etc. at this point in time.
Catherine calls the group and says, "You guys got a package and a letter from one Corvus Evans."
To whoever opens the letter:
To the Adventurer's From the Guild,
In the past 24 Days, we have been able to recover most of the losses caused by the attack thanks to the cooperation of the villagers. We have been able to work to buy materials and weapons to fortify our defenses and better arm ourselves. The good Father has helped us greatly to keep working with the people of Camenose. Because of the relative safety our clan provides against bandits and orcs, many of the local Goblins have joined. We have you to thank for this. To show our gratitude, we've sent you a gift.
Signed, Corvus Evans
There is heavy crate that also came with the letter (the package)
One of the previously unmarked doors open and Gabby comes out. "You did? Commander said he would be sending you a gift yesterday. She walks up to Catherine and takes a letter that was addressed to her. Then she stands a bit behind and watch someone open the crate.
Hearing the call out from Catherine, Elsara will leave a note as to where she is in her reading and head downstairs. "A package?" She says, skipping over to the group and inspecting the crate. "Ooh, I wonder what's inside. Should we wait for the others to open it?" She then gasps. "Oh, I need to write a thing! I'll need to get some things from town after this!"
As someone else in the group is opening the crate Folki will stand next to Gabby.
"Well if we're giving gifts now.... I've got something for you......meant to give it to you before we left earlier”
He pulls out from behind his back a small wooden sculpture. It is a small figure in maille, the chains rippling over the body, standing on a chair with a sword in one hand held above its head. As you look closer you see that the figure is Gabby, her fiercs and strong.
Gabby looks at figure. She takes it and gives a simple, "Thank you". Though she doesn't say much, you can tell that she really appreciated your gift and what you were trying to say.
Gendan opens the box. It is filled with hay and cotton to keep something from breaking. Inside, there is a weapon the size of a long sword. It is wrapped in cheap cloth and tied up with rope. The weapon is the same sword that Evans used.
Homebrew item details (Spoilered to save space):
Weapon Name: Slasher Versatile, Finesse melee weapon Weapon Proficiency: Anyone who is proficient in Long swords can add their proficiency (to hit) when using this weapon. Silvered Blade Base Damage (No Modifiers applied): 1d6+1 Slashing. 2 Hands: 1d8+1 Slashing Other Properties: Score a crit on a nat19 or nat20 (Abilities like Superior Crit can increase crit chance further)
Other than the sword, there is also a bottle of wine that is over a 1000 years old. (DM: Normally, I don't think wine gets stronger with age. However, in this homebrew world, the older the wine, the easier it is to get drunk from it. If 2 drops of this wine is mixed with a glass of water, it will behave mechanically similar to normal wine. Drinking a glass of this without mixing water will impose a DC 35 CON save and failure will mean getting drunk.) As soon as Gendan picks it up, Catherine snatches the bottle from her faster than the half-elf can react. Catherine hugs the wine bottle and says, "I will pay you 3000 GP for this!"
Catherine says, still hugging the bottle, "I know how strong these things can be. It's 2000 years old!"(DM:Minor correction. I went back to the earlier part of this tread and noticed that the Goblin Base was built 2000 years ago. When I wrote about the sword and the wine bottle, I was thinking the building was 1000 years old in my head. In truth the Wine Bottle should be 1600 years old. However Catherine is excited so she's saying it's 2000. This doesn't change anything mechanically however. Drinking a glass without mixing any water will still impose the DC35 CON save)
Further EDIT: To reduce the chance of this kind of mistake happening in the future, I am going to make notes of places of interest in on my private notes. Sorry for the inconvenience.
(Normally I'd wait for the whole party's input before deciding big transactions like ones involving more than 1000 gold but Catherine is really eager to taste the wine so she'd jump at the first chance to buy it and try her best to not give you a chance to change your mind)
Catherine shouts, "DEAL!" She rushes back to her desk and rummages around for coins (Your character's 1st chance to say or do something if you choose) and tosses a heavy pouch at Folki (DC10 Sleight of Hand or get hit in the face and take 1 damage) she then extends her black wings to their full extent and flies toward the Guild Master's room with the bottle in hand. "Horrace, open up! I just scored the wine of the millennia!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(I'll let the others chip in, this is more money than Folki has ever heard about let alone seen so of course he's going through with it. just in case SOH check : 11)
Folki catches the bag. Inside is 300 coins of a reflective white silvery metal (300 PP).
DM: Like I said, when this much money is involved, I would usually wait to get the entire party's opinion. However, the moment Folki said, "Deal" Catheine jumped into action. If anyone wants to object, they can do so when Catherine is searching for gold (the sack toss will be retconned) or try to tackle her when she's about to take off.

I think Gendan (who was unpacking the box) would try to fetch a little more, even. “How about 5,000 gold? It isn’t every day you come across such a fine vintage.” Gendan is really just hoping to save up enough for some full plate armor; it has always been her dream.
Persuasion 12
Would Gendan make a strength contest to avoid giving it away as soon as she picks it up?
(Thanks)

Sweetcane nods and begins writing down the new information.
