Fianna puts the knife back in a different place, curious to see what it will do. When she hears Xorben, she pops her head into the office.

"Did you two find something?"

[OOC - I'll go along with it this time, but in future do not decide on my behalf that my character has taken an action, failed a roll I didn't make causing a trap to trigger, and force them to take damage and a condition.]

Rolas gnaws on his finger for a second and shakes the pain off, scowling at the drawer. He grabs the signet ring and takes a quick glance at the design, and folds the bit of paper away into his pocket. "I found half a recipe for a pie and a nasty bit of skullduggery. The paper's torn though, so I've my doubts whether it's the one we need. I see no reason anyone would rip up their prized recipe."

"Now I'm no safecracker, but I'll have a good go." He heads on over to Xorben and the safe. Rolas gets the knife out of his mess kit and shoves it into the edge to pry the door. 17

"Finna, I think Rolas is doing most of the finding", replies Xorben..."I did find the safe, but I am all thumbs.  Rolas found half the recipe, possibly.  I'd hang onto it as it might of been a moment of frustration or an argument over who owned the recipe and was split in two accidentally.  Who knows as anything could have been the cause.  Rolas you're doing fine work on that safe two possibly."

"Finna what did you folks find out there?  Anything worth mentioning?  I'm a bit concerned that the Goblin's might try a bit of a double cross.  I'd recommend exiting in a different direction possibly just in case."

The safe creaks under the strain, and eventually pries open.  Inside, you see a bunch of coins.  (75 gp, 50 sp, 25 cp when you get around to counting)

The knife, when placed elsewhere, simply sits idle.

Xorben adds, "I wonder if the other half is in a different room to safeguard it by not having the whole page in one place?  We can split the coin up now or put it in a sack and do it later?"

Xorben goes to the room north of them to look around some more, "I'm going to check the room to the north."

"I'm gonna go check that room across the hall," Fianna says as she points behind her with her thumb.

"You wanna come," she asks the Half-Orc.

Bram will go with the others to the unexplored room in hopes of finding the Recipe. "I hope its still hear somewhere"

The other room on that side is another cold room. It looks like maybe this one was for finished bakery items (as opposed to ingredients in the other).  Nothing here looks edible now.

"That's a theory at least, Xorben. I personally would've written the recipe back up on some sturdier paper and put it in that safe if it were so important to the business. You keep hold of the gold for now."

Rolas goes ahead with Fianna and kicks in the door to the room directly west from the office, and if he gets in, will have a search around

The shop is a small front area of the bakery where the famous pies could be sold directly to hungry customers. A counter at the back of the room stands surrounded by shelves on every wall. It appears that while the shelves once held lovely packages of pies, they have long since been ransacked; paper boxes and bits of ribbon and twine litter the floor. Two small tables have been overturned in the center of the room. There is a door on either side of the room, as well as the large double doors that lead outside. You can see these are barred from the inside right now.

Bram will exam the scattered papers on the floor in hopes 1 of them is the recipe

Investigation 9

The papers on the floor are more of the packing variety rather than anything with writing on them.  No recipe seems to be among that debris.

Seeing no recipe here Bram will head to the next room to the left and she if it can be opened.

Although there was little need for it, Grammy kept two or three young men from the nearby town employed as guards, more to keep them out of trouble than anything else. This room is where they kept their equipment and took breaks during long night patrols. Three quarterstaffs have fallen to the floor from where they once stood against one wall. There is a small table with two chairs, all of which have been overturned. A locked chest sits opposite the quarterstaffs.

(Dexterity check to pick the lock, Perception check to check for traps, Strength check to smash off the lock) 

(Fianna will definitely help look over the chest, but probably shouldn't take the lead here.)

Xorben says, "I can get it and the help is most welcome to be sure.  I'll give it a go and use my mage hand cantrip...  Worst case we'll have to bust it open."

Xorben Dex Sleight of hand; 15  OOC - Dex roll is +2 for Xorben so I just used the Sleight of hand as it's a +2 Dex Skill....

The lock pops open.  Inside are 3 vials of some oily looking substance.
