A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Auriel dodges Bogclaw's next thrust; the massive lizardfolk easily spins his trident around to parry away Sylyra's staff and nearly impale the druid in return. Nearby, Uragum's eyes flicker back open, however, revitalized by the elf's healing magic. Hex is unable to land her next arrow, but Carlthuzad strikes, still seeming to do little more than annoy Bogclaw. The would-be lizard king still stands tall despite now carrying a few wounds.

Uragum is prone and severely wounded. Sylyra is wounded. Auriel is lightly wounded. Hex is lightly wounded and has used 4 arrows.
Just as if it were a scene in slow motion, Auriel sees from the corner of his eyes Hex's arrow flying high, Carl's blast striking true and Sylyra's spell infusing life back into Uragum. The fact that this gift of life is met with yet more damage enrages the paladin to the point of making him yell at Bogclaw, promising to end his wretched life and his wretched reign before it has even begun.
He presses against the lizardfolk's hands, putting all his weight into this movement and using the resulting momentum to leap backwards to gain enough space to aim for Bogclaw's head. But either because he has miscalculated, or simply because the burning rage has taken the best of him, the attack misses completely and leaves the eladrin open for retaliation.
Something like this. But of course I had to roll and get a stupid 10.

Abruptly the floating nothingness disappeared as Uragum was yanked backwards into his body. With a sudden intake of breath, the pain from the impalement shocked him back to reality. Recalling that he must have nearly died and combat remained, he labored back to a standing position.
He took a deep breath and as he locked his gaze upon Bogclaw. He took a staggered step forward with his hand raised to the sky. He let it crackle with energy for a moment and then thrust it at Bogclaw releasing an arcing bolt of lightning.
Sylyra doubles over in response to Bogclaw's attack. What is happening here? Why are they losing? Unconsciously, he silently pleads with the nature around him. Please!
Out of the corner of his eye, Sylyra sees Uragum begin to stir. He's alive! The druid narrows his eyes, squares his shoulders, and adjusts his stance, taking a defensive posture.

As another one of her arrows misses Bogclaw, Hex cannot help but let out a cry of frustration. Though Sylyra had managed to bring them back from the brink of death, Auriel and Uragum were felled too easily and the idea that she would have to watch any more of her companions fall to Bogclaw while she remained afar filled her with an all too familiar fear. For every attack Auriel dodges, her anxiety eases ever so slightly but as the lizardfolk manages to get a hit on Sylyra, her heart skips and her hands begin to shake. Realising she was overwhelming herself with fear, she closes her eyes and takes a moment to just breathe. They've been through worst before. Fights that seemed completely hopeless only for them to somehow make it through. With each breath she releases, her hands begin to still and her heart slows to its usual beat. Hex opens her eyes with new found focus and she fires off another arrow.
Carl feels his frustration rising, he inches forward another 10 feet and lets off another burst of eldritch energy at the massive lizardfolk. He glances at Auriel, Hex, and Uragum, feeling that he is letting them down. But oddly, he glances at Sylyra, feeling the most sadness as he sees him try to dodge Bogclaw, feeling still inferior and ashamed, afraid of his judgement. His anger trips up his spell, he feels impotent and unable to bring stronger magic to bear on the fight that continues. He reaches deep into his mind, contacting the voice from afar, the deep, dark one who led him on this journey. A sound escapes his mouth in a whimper, “Why, why have you forsaken me?” He looks around at the din of lizardfolk battle around him, he continues as he walks closer, “Correct them, teach them, forgive them, for they know not what they do! Can’t you see? Why do you continue to fight!” On the last, his blast takes off, trying in vain to protect his companions.

With two hands gripping either end of his trident, Bogclaw crosses with Auriel's halberd, then turns, spins the trident smoothly around his body, and thrusts it at Sylyra; prepared for the strike, the druid lunges away safely. Though Carlthuzad and Hex miss their target, Bogclaw is suddenly wreathed in electricity, stumbling as Uragum's magic slams into his hulking form. The lizardfolk eyes the wizard spitefully, but with Auriel and Sylyra keeping him occupied, he makes no move toward the goliath.

Uragum didn't say anything. He didn't do anything else. His focus was purely upon the magic coursing through him and in turn, he focused it upon Bogclaw. He blocked out the pain, the warmth of the blood wetting his clothing where he was stabbed and thought naught but the coursing electricity connecting the two of them.
Action: sustain witchbolt and deal 8 electric damage
Auriel contained his breath, expecting that trident to impale Sylyra once again, and himself afterwads. When this doesn't happen he feels a rush of optimism that lifts his spirits, making him say:
- We can do this.
He speaks softly at first, as if he doesn't fully believe it yet. But then he raises his voice for everyone to hear.
- WE CAN DO THIS!!
In an almost unconscious movement, fuelled by the muscle memory attained by his years of training, he thrusts the halberd towards Bogclaw's throat. The weapon strikes true, causing yet another wound to the huge lizardfolk.
Sylyra chances a look back at Uragum as the electricity takes hold of the lizardfolk. He can't help but smile. When Auriel yells his word of encouragement, the druid bears his teeth and continues to stand between the goliath and his target. "Get him, big guy," he whispers.
Carl stands on his tiptoes excitedly, hoping to harm end the brief rule of murderous Bogclaw, firing off another eldritch blast at him. A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Carlthuzad's magic continues to sizzle through the air above the fray. As Sylyra continues to focus on defense, Bogclaw turns his attention to the dangerous Eladrin, his growls shaking from the continued pulsing of Uragum's witch bolt. Auriel suddenly lunges forward, grinning as the point of his halberd strikes the scaly flesh where Bogclaw's neck and shoulders meet. The lizardfolk grins, one hand moving up to grasp the shaft of the halberd and pull with all his strength. Auriel pitches forward, with nowhere to land but the point of Bogclaw's trident in his other hand, reared back to impale the paladin.
Then the trident shifts, and Auriel falls safely to the ground aside the mighty Bogclaw. The heir to the lizard king lies still, a defiant growl still etched on his face with Hex's arrow lodged firmly in his skull.
The momentary lull is quickly filled by the din of the chaos surrounding the Island of the Lizard King. Many of the prisoners lie dead where the lizardfolk began to put up a more unified resistance. The loss of their clan leaders, and the sight of Bogclaw fallen, however, seems to have taken the fight out of the remaining lizardfolk, despite their superior numbers, weaponry and ability. Cutting their losses, they flee the island, leaving dozens of freed humanoid captives and livestock behind.
OOC: Each character has received 280 XP for defeating Bogclaw and his retinue of lizardfolk.
The paladin's first reaction is to stand up as quickly as possible. Even though the immediate danger is over, he's shaky and his heart still beats furiously. That trident had once again been too close. Dangerously close. But it was over. Gods be praised, it was over and they lived.
The very moment he's on his own two feet, the elf kicks the trident away from Bogclaw's hands. One could never be too careful, especially with a foe that had been so hard to finish. For the same reason, his next reaction is to turn the halberd upside down and begin the motion to plunge the point into the would be king's heart, but he stops mid movement. No, Bogclaw was definitely dead and that wasn't necessary at all.
He does say quietly, though:
- Long may you reign, king of nothing.
Auriel then steps away from the corpse, searching for ... something. Air, firstly. The smallest ammount of inner peace, too. He wants to check on his companions and on the prisoners. But the first are alive and on their feet, the dead won't be back anytime soon and the people and animals that live will have to wait until he's breathed a couple of breaths.
When this is done, he tries to look for whoever is in more inmediate risk of dying of their wounds. He'll also grab Bogclaw's trident when he walks next to it, as it could prove useful on their way back through the marsh. It is when he crouches to pick the weapon that he notices the tattoos that stick out from his forearm protections are golden, instead of their usual red, and the eladrin realizes he's transitioned to Summer for the first time in his life.

Without realizing he had approached, Auriel is surprised that Sylyra is suddenly standing beside him. The white-blonde-haired elf grins at the paladin and reaches out to grasp the halberd just above his own hand. "I'll help," he says quietly. Sylyra's face contorts just a little with the effort, and Auriel is surprised as the halberd lifts slightly and then is thrust downward into the lizardfolk's chest. Releasing the weapon, the druid smiles down at the beast. "King of nothing," he repeats. Without looking at Auriel again, Sylyra turns and half limps/half stomps toward Uragum. He looks almost drunk as he approaches. When the elf reaches the goliath, he reaches out and grasps one huge shoulder. "I thought I'd lost you there," he says, smiling despite the situation. He has to change his footing as his balance shifts. Catching himself, Sylyra chuckles. "I think I should sit down." His hand moves to where Bogclaw had impaled him as he drops to the ground. He winces a little, but lets out a groan of contentment. Closing his eyes, Sylyra lays back to rest. "Give me a minute, then we need to get out of here before the dragon returns."
Carl walks up and approaches, his eyes wide. He looks at Uragum and Auriel, saying “I uh, I thought you were goners. Ye gods, look at him, he’s huge! We need ta get out of here, agree with ya there.” He looks around for anyone still in danger, or any task that his unseen servant can do, carrying out any injured. If he sees nothing else, he’ll bring his battle axe over and behead Bogclaw, saying to Auriel “Just to be sure.”

The summer elf has to make a tremendous effort to refrain himself from yelling at Sylyra the moment he realizes the druid is next to him. " 'Melme nauva' my ***!", or "I am worth every single drop of that potion, you *******!" are just two examples of what is going on through his mind, but as he's about to open the mouth to say any of them, what Sylyra says and does and how he hurt he looks just makes all that nice poetry vanish. As if it had never been there to begin with.
He watches, still a little annoyed, as the druid goes away and when Carl comes close, he just exhales. A long tired exhale. Carl can hear him mutter "I swear I'm going to punch that elf some day".
The paladin then places a hand on Carl's shoulder:
- We are lucky to be alive, all of us. Well, it wasn't luck. We sure worked our as- - he doesn't finish the word and instead corrects himself - worked together to achieve that. Are you okay, by the way? Do you want to check if Fuselad is among the prisoners we rescued? I can go with you, if you like.
Auriel looks back, to where he knows Hex has been shooting from, and beckons her to approach the group, then keeps talking for everyone to hear:
- Though I guess we need to have that sorted out first, yes. We either leave already, or ... we rest here? Before you protest, Sylyra, you and Uragum are going to need more than just a minute. And we don't expect, erm, unwanted company, for days. Let's rest before the journey back, don't you think? I'd say being able to actually walk is necessary to return safely.
As her arrow finally finds purchase in it's target, Hex can't help but smile, eyes widening in surprise when it just so happens to be the killing blow. With Bogclaw finally fallen, she stays where she is for a few moments, eyes closed and breathing deep. They've done it again. Another near death experience dodged. Whether it was luck or skill that let them survive this long, she didn't really know but she could tell it was getting to her head and even making her feel a little cocky.
With her eyes still closed, her smile turns more into a cheeky grin, one beaming with confidence. The expression fades slightly, however, as she opens her eyes just in time to see Sylyra standing besides Auriel, helping the paladin pierce his halberd into the dead lizardfolk. She looks away from the two and, for the first time, truly takes in their surroundings. All the blood and all the dead, belonging to kidnapped and kidnappers both. She had hoped they could avoid so much bloodshed and death...
Even after Auriel motions for her to approach, she does not rejoin her companions nor show any sign that she even noticed him calling her. Instead, she stays still for a moment, the high of defeating a powerful opponent quickly leaving her, before walking away to examine the bodies of the dead captives. She moves silently, moving the bodies out of harms way, laying them on their backs, side by side. They most likely wouldn't be able to bring all the bodies back to the village at once, to be identified by their families and properly buried, but, at the very least, she could make sure they would be found in more dignified positions.
