Kathra takes the lead, once more bowing slightly. "My compatriots and I come seeking work and insight into some of the rumors surrounding the region. We were directed to speak with Duff. Is he available?"
Gavin quietly and respectfully hands his weapons over when it is time to do so. Taking the approach of ‘don’t speak unless spoken to’ approach here. Still standing proud just behind Kathra so as not to seem too passive.
Shale sets a tag on your weapon crate and sets it on a shelf behind the counter. Turning back, she smiles invitingly, then hands a corresponding tag token to Kathra. "Ah yes, the requisitionist. This way please." And with that you are guided through a veritable warren maze of halls and rooms. It's hard to gauge, but your pretty certain that whatever route you may be taking cannot possibly be the most direct, as you weave around forges and crafting booths all staffed with dwarves hard at work. Finally, you arrive at an open office area, sort of like a library, but with what look to be magical light globes suspended from the ceiling. There is a desk carved of stone, which dominates the center of the room, and various benches and chairs scattered around, some with books piled on them in what may or may not be some unknowable haphazard order.
"The head requisitionist will be with your shortly. Please make yourselves comfortable." Shale says, guiding you into the room before turning around and heading back into the maze of hallways. It isn't long before an older dwarf enters the room through a section of the wall you had no idea was actually a door. He is a bit squat, even for a dwarf, and is draped in fine blue robes. He is bedecked in various baubles and trinkets and around his neck you see a curious black stone made up of concentric and fractaling square shapes, held in place by a silver chain. As he looks up from the book he was reading he seems surprised to see you. Grabbing a piece of scribbled paper from some side pocket he gives it a glace and then back at you all. "D..did I have an appointment today? Are you with the caravan commission?"
For Mub:
At your display the two dwarves confer for a brief moment before turning back to you. "Do...you...need..help?" one of them offers. "Are you lost maybe?" asks the other. "Maybe we should take him inside for a bit. If he's got friends they might be looking for him." says the first again, and they somewhat usher you inside the tower structure. It's a cozy watch station with a desk, a table, a few chairs and a bench. The two lead you over to the bench and set you down. "Keep and eye on him while I go tell Bhaerny." says the first, leaving through an open doorway that you can see leads to a spiral stair, likely leading up to the upper tower floors.
The dwarf watching over you does his best to look interested, at least for the first few minutes, though you can tell after a while his willingness to care begins to waver. About that time the dwarf in armor that had previously left up the stairs comes down again, this time with another dwarf, this one in a shinier steel plate armor in tow. ".....found him outside, maybe begging for money, sir. We think he's lost or confused. Doesn't seem to speak any common." The new dwarf, this one's hair white with age and smelling faintly of scented oils, looks over at you for a about a second before heading over to what looks like a localized map on the wall. "Well, we'll have to sort that out later. Alabaster wants us to assess the current threat level along the northern river. Have there been any more reports of the clankers?" The first dwarf walks past you as well leaving his companion to keep an eye on you as he confers with what seems to be his superior. "None in the last day or so. We've seen sign of them further up the hill, whole swaths of vegetation picked to the ground for some reason. But other than that nothing."
Gavin looks at robed dwarf and then at Kathra, “What’s a caravan commission? Sounds kinda fancy. We must look better than I thought to be confused with a title like that.”
The robed dwarf, presumably Duff, squints at you and then grubs around in another pocket before fishing out a small pair of spectacles. Putting them on, he takes a breath or two to adjust and says, "Guild traders mostly. If you don't know of them then you're likely not with them. So...why are you in my office on such a gloomy day?"

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
((The pigeon will arrive to the party shortly after they conclude their meeting with Duff.))
For Mub:
Unsurprisingly, the dwarf that was set to keep an eye on you sort of lets you shuffle off outside unhindered when you go to leave.
EDIT: As for the map, you can't get a good look at it easily without causing a scene. Most of the marks seem to be along the river that flows into town from the north.
((Wednesday is a bit of an "off-day" for iwdwid, so I don't expect him to respond to this until tomorrow.))
For Mub:
As you fly around the hilly countryside along the river, you begin to notice patches of land that seem rather trampled and or bereft of vegetation. Landing, you examine one such area for a while to see if you can get a feel for the sort of creatures that would alter the landscape in such a way. From what you can gather, the tracks you find appear to have been made by several medium-sized humanoids...maybe somewhat heavier than most, as their tracks, though old, are still imprinted here and there among the wet muck. The picked plant-life you instantly recognize as various leafy herbs and grasses popular in magical research. However, whoever harvested from this area didn't leave much of anything behind beyond broken stems and shorn plant nubs near to the ground.
Several minutes into your search of the area the rain begins to pick up once again, making your investigations all the more difficult.

((Sorry, I forgot I had a business trip yesterday and that basically killed my ability to post))
By this point Kathra has the introduction pretty much memorized. She explains the party is there looking to help with what they've heard are troubles in the region, preferably in exchange for payment of some kind.
Duff makes his way over to the stone desk and gets situated as you recount you introductions and offer assistance. You think, for the most part, he heard what you has to say, though often he was also paging through some manuscript on the desk and taking some margin notes. "Yes, well, that all sounds well and good, but what proof do you have that there are any real dangers outside of Rockmount that needs removing? If we tossed gold around for every story of flying fish and strange night noise, we'd be broke by years end. Besides, we've the finest dwarves in the land guarding our town. Feel free to tromp up and down our hills for a time if you like, but the price for stories in this town is pitifully low."

Gavin trying to hold his tongue let’s out a quiet chuckle “I guess you were right Kathra,” he whispers. “They don’t have any intention of solving this problem, let alone admitting they have one.”

Mud nods to the men and show them two coins letting out one more "qhy".
After that he puts them away and looks at them but like a rock hitting him in the head he jets out his arm to offer his hand.
Mirabel parts with his daggers and crossbow without a second thought. He never uses them.
He does his best to look respectful behind Kathra.
Peren will do the same
except for his dagger

Mub polls out a pigeon form his bag and plays with to as he looks at the men looking over him.
The pigeon is far to fat looking as if has been over fed and now has diabetes.
Mub lets him have a good berry be for putting it away and show the man his bow and trying to show he is strong by flexing his arms.

Verily my compatriot it is I Morbius Unther Bartholomew .
I have inquired in to employment and have been requested to look in to some malevolent happenstances on the North of town.
I shall journey there with haste to investigate and hope to reunite with you before the nightfall.
If I vanish you may inquired with a kind lad of the name Bhaerny.
