Doozey's eyes went wide for a second, before he relay over his shoulder the conversation thus far. "Eh, uh... Neya? Or Danae -- either or really. How deft do you think your hands are? 'cause might uh need to make a big ask shortly." He says, though before they can answer, he directs his next words to Frederick. "Do you remember direction the ones that bled ran off too?" He asks, pauses for a moment to hear the answer, and then mostly regardless of what it may be he asks, "Also, are you still hurt? I have a friend here you can get the things pinching your side out, and make easier for you to protect more. Especially if evil lizards comeback."
-Persuasion: 12. (if persuasion/animal handling check is required. And if Taroo is/would help of his own accord: 23.)
Hearing Doozey mention some healing for the bull, Utar readies himself to climb the fence and approach the animal, but calls out before dropping into the animal's field and approaching.
"The Bull is ok wth me approaching, right? It knows I'm not a lizard person, right? If anyone wants to follow a likely blood trail, there's one that starts over there and heads towards the river."
"To the river," Frederick states regarding the direction taken by the running lizards, and in accordance with Utar's own observations.
It takes a bit more convincing, and Taroo indeed comes to Doozey's aid with another apple he had hoped to save for himself as a snack later. "Not a horse, but Fred here still enjoys a good Red Delicious." With that, Fred allows the new arrivals to enter his domain. Utar responds to Doozey's call and hops into the bull's enclosure. Denae supports from a distance: "I would, but it looks like the Tormite is eager to help."
(@MB: If you are walking to the bull to manually remove the darts, or doing something similar, please give me an animal handling check. If you are attempting healing through other means, please take an appropriate action.)
"I can certainly take a look at the blood trail," Neya says, still wary of the upset animal. She moves around the enclosure to the blood and attempts to follow it as far as she's able.
Gaining confidence as he approaches, Utar carefully removes three darts from Frederick's broad body. The half-orc notices they are sleek, likely designed to be applied with the help of a blowgun. A lingering acidic smell rises from each tiny wound, and a quick taste test on the tip of one of the darts confirms they had been laced with some tranquilizing drug, likely natural in composition.
After the magical healing, Fred perks up a bit more: "Better. Much better." The bull seems less bothered now by Utar's proximity.
Meanwhile, Neya confirms one more time that the trail of blood leads back to the river. With all the evidence gathered so far, there is little doubt in her mind, and in those of the other CRAPers, that all the clues point towards the lizardfolk and the marsh.
Taroo has absolutely no interest in pursuing the kidnappers into the marsh. He says he'll stay at the farms to tend to the remaining animals and lock up the buildings. He'll later go back upriver for the night, and report back to Romsan as Doozey had requested.
"Were. All ofth the dartfs have been removedth. Should be feewling wright and wrain."
Feeling his tongue start to numb up in his mouth, Utar curses himself for being such an idiot. Never lick a dart unless you know what treatment it has had beforehand... and even then!
"So, how should we pursue the lizardfolk?" Neya asks.
"All trails end at the river," She starts listing, "But there are a few ways we can do this. We could go into the swamp to try and search for the them. We would be able to see while there is still daylight. The only problem is that there is no way of knowing where to look in the first place."
"We could wait for nightfall and listen for the drums and follow them. We would know the direction, but not how far away they are. Depending on how far away, they might have already gotten away."
"We could walk on trails alongside or near the rivers serving the swamp at night and hope for an ambush. But, that is a gamble that may not happen and waste precious time."
"I'm open to other suggestions, those are just three I immediately thought of."
"Mind passing that one over? I need ta see something." Doozey requests of Utar, holding out a hand after whipping out a rag to hold the dart. Once he had it in hand, he'd study it for a moment, if but to confirm it's crudeness, overall design, and... we'll between Fred's recall and Utar's reaction, there wasn't much need to confirm it's main use.
"I say we take the river as far as we can. Things might be a bit touch and go for a variety of reasons, but... it'a be the fastest route. And after you guys tangled with a dragon... heh! I doubt any troubles a wee river can hit us with will be too big a deal with enough caution!" He says, absently grinning while either studying the piece(if given it) or busying himself petting Biscuit. "Plus if we're exceptionally lucky, I can... Hmm.. Ah yes! I can ask the local wildlife along the way to help guide us on the path after the lizardfolks. 'cause if they're bogged down as we suspect, THAT will stick even in a common critters mind for at least a day or two."The halfling further assured the group.
"But waiting around and trying to navigate through the dark by sound and sharp eyes alone? And in deadly and unfamiliar territory at that? Ho boi! Now that's an excessive way to unalive yerself, if I do say so myself!" He adds with a more stern note to his voice, and finally looking pointedly at each member of the group. "Even for folk like me 'n biscuit here, it'a be a tricky endeavor to navigate at the time, putting mildly. Nevermind any uncertainty as to whether the drumming is purely for raiding, or for some other purpose of these lizardfolks. At which point, we run the risk of wasting far more valuable time. So, unless there's any other counters any of ya are of a mind to put forth... shall we get going back to the boats?"
“Alright,” Denae takes charge for a moment. “If we are going to punt our way down the river without a guide, we’ll have to be more organized than during our first trip. We can take turns punting as needed, but there are other stations we should man. There are four of us, so how about this: we’ll need a lookout, a navigator, a cartographer, and a tracker. Someone to keep an eye out for danger and obstacles, someone to find the best way down the river, someone to keep track of the twists and turns of our chosen path so we don’t get lost, and someone to keep track of lizardfolk signs. I’ll take whichever job is left over after you have your pick. Sounds good?”
Doozey nods. "Fair enough. 'specially consider'n we're down more experienced hands with boating."Biscuit boofed in agreement, and looked on at Denae with a look akin to newfound respect. "Naturally, I'll play tracker on this little expedition, and biscuit here... help keep lookout, or with tracking as well if whoever is to do so feel confident about handling that on their own."

"Ok, we're going to go nice and slowly, take these out one at a time."
Rubbing his hands together briskly to avoid any cold hands, Utar gently pinches the bull's skin then slowly pulled each of the darts out.
Animal Handling - 20
Once his task is complete, Utar places his hands together on the bull's side and casts cure wounds to top Freddie off to the tune of 9.

As Utar recovers from his investigation tactics, Neya and Doozey begin to go through their potential next steps.
Denae pipes in: "Going into the swamp will be dangerous regardless of our strategy."
(OOC: Pausing here for a moment to see if the group arrives at an agreement on how to proceed.)
Utar immediately hands over one of the darts to Doozey and offers the others to Neya and Danae.
He pauses before offering an opinion on what to do next, surely the numbness was temporary, right?
"My vote, we scout via the river. That's how they're getting around, it's how we start to hunt them."
"Down by the river it is, then," Neya nods as a song starts to get stuck in her head. She knocks on her head twice in an effort to dismiss it.
