“Fortifying and revivifying draughts,” Dev says. “My songs can heal us when we are stabbed or slashed or… whatever… but…,” his glance shifts among the others, “when I am… badly wounded… then no one can help them,” he finishes, looking back to Ascera, “if things get bad. Healing potions.”
Normont's eyes widen a bit as Ascera looks so shocked they survived encounters with the Cerberus Assembly. He had been aware that Delila Briarwood had once been among their ranks, but a whole organisation of arch mages, he had not considered that
"The things in the tower were terrifying, but the mages from the Assembly seemed to not have much problem with them", he replies thoughtfully.
"I was going to suggest we haven't been explicitly targeted by the Cerberus Assembly yet, we just seem to run into them on other business. But there may be reports of a group containing an Earth Genasi, Ashari, Tiefling and Gnome after the tower incident. Especially when they teleported back to find it a molten mess. I think we may be on their radar after that, if they survived their meeting with Sleetwing. He's a young drake we met on the way here and tricked into not eating us", he says, thinking back to their encounter with the young drake and wondering how that encounter went with the Cerberus Assembly folk.
"Between fog shrouded ruins with a terrible creature lurking within, a far gate portal leaking corruption, an ancient tower full of crazed abyssal creatures and a young drake trying to make a name for itself, the southern part of the Alabaster Sierra's is quite the dangerous place!".
"But no, I don't think we need anything identifying. I am quite capable in that regard given a little time to calibrate my tools".
" And a dragon............The Grand Mistress will certainly want to know about that."
" Sounds like they had their hands full, so you might have slipped down the list for now."
" Ok....so doesn't seem theres any immediate threat......that we know of."
Lokilia looked a bit shocked as Ascera describes the Cerberus Assembly. "I guess archmages makes sense the way they teleported in and out of that place." She shakes her head, "I still think those things in the tower were more dangerous than those Cerberus folks though."

Ascera grinned and moved over to a small cabinet retrieving a wooden bracket of four small red flasks, " These should do."
" We want all of you to come back hale and....robust.", her gaze lingered on Lokilia as she said the last word before she turned away.
The dwarf came forward and nodded to Quinn, " Anything to add, Oh Silent Sentinel?"
Lokilia glances at Dev. "You know, I can heal a bit too. Those berries I prepare are both nourishing and healing." But when Ascera grabs what seem to be healing potions, she adds. "Extra healing is always good though." Her eyes drift to Quinn when the dwarf speaks to him, waiting to see if he might have anything to add.
"I also gave a full report to the Commissioner. I am not certain if these matters are important enough to discuss amongst the Chamber though", Normont replies.
He watches Ascera collect the red flasks for Dev, and gives her a nod if she looks towards him, before waiting to see if Quinn has anything to add after being prompted by the dwarf.

Dev pales. How many times had Lokilia’s berries saved his life? And how could he not have thought of them at this moment?
”Your berries are the best!!,” he says, a bit too loudly. “I don’t know why I didn’t think of them just now!” He looks morbidly ashamed.
Now Lokilia looks a bit upset. "Oh no, Dev! I didn't mean anything by the comment. Just was reminding you. It's certainly true the berries aren't the simplest thing in the midst of a fight." The last thing she had wanted was to make Dev upset. She'd only meant to tease him a little. She lingers by, watching him closely, making sure he's not upset or ashamed. "Just a joke there. Really!"
Lokilia’s response quickly assuages Dev’s anxiety, his eyes stop popping, and his posture relaxes.
”Oh!,” he manages, and then, stepping outside of himself and picturing his reaction as he was a moment ago, he smiles and his eyes crinkle. His laugh is a pleasant trill. “Hahaha!, you got me!”
He continues in a lowered voice, shifting a little closer with words intended for Lokilia alone, “But it’s true that your berries saved my life. And I would never want you to think I didn’t, like, appreciate it.”

The clean shaven dwarf chuckled, " Aye, we have."
" Your blade looks like its seen better days. I might have something to suit."
The dwarf headed over to a tall cabinet and pulled forth a similar longsword, the handle was bound in grey leather and the blade decorated with oddly draconic themed patterns.
" Do you think it would suit? Sounds like you lot tend to run into way more dangerous stuff than most of us do."
" Technically its a loaner....so please don't lose it before you bring back something of similar worth.", he grinned.

(OOC: Nice! Normont will definitely need to spend some time with his grandfather and at his workshop. He will be levelling into Battle Smith and so needs to create his Steel Defender, and will be using the schematics he got from the tower to give it the extra oomph. He will also want to help investigate the Nameless Ones, finding out their numbers and hopefully what they are doing in Whitestone. He cannot afford to pay for the Lilac Inn for a month, so will need to help arrange cheaper lodgings for the others unless they have other plans. He hopes to get summoned by the Chamber, or at least the Grand Mistress of the Hunt (he would definitely agree to joining her Grey Hunters if it would allow him to continue to travel with the others). He desperately wants Lord de Rolo to take an interest in him as well. I guess he may be required to go back to work as a Pale Guard?)

(I was originally thinking college of Tragedy, but the path seems a bit underwhelming now that I’m here, and not quite right for Dev. I’m considering Eloquence or Glamour. Thoughts?)
(I give great weight to @Volcano’s thoughts and looked very carefully at Eloquence. But something about Dev’s short horns has me thinking… maybe he’s not 100% tiefling after all. Those pan pipes too… was/is his father a satyr? Also I see his power coming from his music and performance, and it seems natural that others should start to appreciate his artistry, even lose themselves in it. He is going with Glamour!)
Dev, now that his travels have left him situated in Whitestone for a while, wastes no time writing to his (adoptive) parents (c/o Jasper, since they are legally blind), almost every day, to let them know he is all right, and ask how they are doing.
Dev is curious about Balaran, not only because he is a hottie… (although not always that nice). Our lad is very curious about the painter/noble scion, a fellow Tiefling and fellow artsy type. I wonder if Balaran would introduce Dev to other artsy friends and other tieflings.
Music pours out of the bard now. He’s a magically refilling goblet brimming over with melody, harmony, and words. With his new Enthralling Performance ability, I wonder if he will find himself with admirers.
Dev looks for Andrew, the boy’s reappearance. He feels committed to discouraging Glinnink from doing whatever he is doing.
(OOC: Lokilia is not going to be particularly thrilled about staying in Whitestone for a month. I'm imagining her most days - unless something comes along to pique her interests - that at some point each day she will inquire whether they will be leaving soon. She understands the Normont would stay with his grandfather, but she would not want to impose on him. She also realizes they can't just stay at the Lilac. She would find a very inexpensive place for her and the other two to stay. Preferably she'd love to stay in the overgrown part of the city, but is guessing those Grey Hunters aren't going to allow that - and she'd not want to look bad for Normont's sake.
She would probably spend much of her time with Dev - at least until she feels like maybe she is imposing on him too much. She would certainly encourage Dev in his curiosity about Balaran and would accompany him if he wanted to try to see him or chat with him - and of course maybe talk to him herself a bit since she's already there. And she would definitely sit at times just to listen to Dev's burgeoning music.
She would be very interested in talking with Quinn a little bit, mainly about his Ashari heritage. But she would be extremely careful not to push him. So if he's really not interested in talking she would relatively quickly give up on it.
She also might spend some time practicing Herbalism. She has a kit, but it would probably be more of a question of where she might find plants and herbs. Her first thought would be to find things in the wild on her own, though that might be tough in a city. Eventually she might be drawn to others that practice Herbalism and would see what she could find out there.
But whatever wild places she might hear about or find she would try to visit. Often. Or at least parks or areas with natural plants.
And yes, she would very much like to follow up on the Nameless Ones. Starting sooner rather than later.)
Dev adores Lokilia and her presence warms and steadies the chaos that flickers in his heart. She sometimes feels like a maternal figure to him, guiding and supporting, but here in Whitestone, even more like a big sister. The tiefling never tires of her company. In fact, he has come to know her well too, and Dev, early on, brings up Acera. It’s in the context of a conversation about Balaran.
“I think she likes you. I mean, I think she was attracted to you, you know?,” he says. He imitates the Grey Hunter in a teasing voice:
" We want all of you to come back hale and....robust.", his eyes flaring comedically with the last word. “No, seriously though…,” he says, gently.
As the days pass he senses Lokilia’s unease in the city and accompanies her out of the city to wander in the surrounding wilderness each morning. This is no hardship to Dev. Although he is excited by Whitestone, it is exhausting too— so many people, among whom he often finds himself confused, wondering how he fits in. Being alone with his friend outside the walls feels much more like home.
If Quinn wants to spend some of the month keeping busy, Normont will happily put a word in with the Pale Guard to try and get him some shifts as some kind of secondment or associate, and maybe a place to stay in the barracks.
Dev will likely have no problem getting lodging based on his new abilities :-)
Normont will ask the Pale Guard to turn a blind eye if Lokilia is found sleeping rough in Lord Trinket's Public Park.
Although he starts off seeing the others often, he will slowly become consumed in his workshop, and starts to bring schematics and designs with him even when they meet for drinks or a meal. The only exception to this would be if they arranged some surveillance or investigative work related to the Nameless Ones.
Towards the end of the month, he is finally ready to present the newest member of their band, Maggie!
