“Stop!,” Dev shouts, as the ruffians surround the enraged merchant and beleaguer him with deadly slashes, “He’s just a bystander! It’s us you’re after!” If the trader falls it will be my fault!
The teen tiefling’s song and the illusory instrumental music — like demonic crumhorn and rattan — continue as he spins back into the open, trying to draw the smooth-faced swordsman away from Progo. Dev points at the man and, between song lines, interjects a piercing “Ooh!”. Raff feels the embellishment like an epée to his ego! (dissonant whispers: WIS13 save or take 14 psychic damage and must immediately use his reaction, if available, to move as far as his speed allows away from Dev. doesn’t move into obviously dangerous ground, such as a fire or a pit. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage and doesn’t have to move away.)
He sings:
They're out to get you, better leave while you can / Don't wanna be a boy, you wanna be a man
You wanna stay alive, better do what you can / So beat it, just beat it!

Lokilia starts to look worried as she sees this orcish looking man facing so many attacks. She stands her ground, tossing another stone into the air to propel it swiftly at the injured man. (Spell Attack: 9, Damage: 7)
People. So there were... those things, with the 'fingers' and their quadruped not-dogs, and also people. But they wanted nothing from him? It's true, he was the one investigating them, at first, but why then is he still here? A pet? He didn't feel like one. That is, he thought most people feed their pets. Unless... unless he was the food, and whatever is coiling inside him is the pet. Werhann shuddered. He has to get out of here before it's too late.
Werhann willed a knife into his hand. Toothed, to cut the rope with ease. If nothing else, he should at least find some food and water, perhaps find out who's out there. Then... he couldn't fix the ropes, so there wasn't really a way back once they're cut. Probably? He couldn't will weapons into his hands before, but he can do so now. Why? He didn't know. But maybe there are other things he can do now? Well, in any case, he'll need to cut himself free first, or none of that matters.
Werhann bends his wrist as much as he can to reach the ropes with the knife. He'll try to cut into them, but not all the way through, yet. He doesn't know when they'll be back. It would be bad if he were caught immediately when he's finally free. And yet, he needs to be able to make the final cut at the last moment, so he spends no time once they're gone.
If possible, Werhann tries to weaken the ropes by cutting partly through them, but not all the way yet, assuming he can get a feel of how thick they are. If he can, he'll try to cut them from below so that the cuts aren't visible, but if not, he'll just do whatever he can. Once he's satisfied, and assuming he didn't cut them all the way through by accident, he wills the knife away and awaits the next visit by his captors, hoping they won't notice his work.
