Dev feels a shade of disappointment when Progo first replies. Adventuring is a lonely pastime and Progo seems like a lively character. Too lively and perhaps smarter than he gives on to get involved with the likes of the Nameless Ones.
But when his cart shudders to a halt, when the axle snaps, overloaded as the conveyance is, the teenager winces in sympathy, yet also, hope glimmers.
”Oh! Your cart!” The tiefling exchanges another glance with Lokilia to be sure they’re in agreement, then urges both to join him in departing the scene.
”There were Pale Guardsmen nearby. Let’s tell them about the… bodies…,” he makes a face, “so, like, no little kid has to, like, stumble over them in the street? But we don’t have to say we were involved. Normont can, like, patch things up later?”
He’s already walking but waits for Lokilia’s response before hailing the Guard when they near them.

Lokilia gives a glance to Progo's cart as the axel breaks. "You need help carrying something? But we've got to go. We have a place. But let's get moving!" she says, a bit worried now that they are not going to be fast enough to get ahead of the guard. She glances at Dev, ready to follow him. "You want to tell the guards about the bodies and not just leave it to Normont?" She sounds a little worried about that too, but perhaps Dev is right. "Yea, we'll tell them."
"You WANT to call the guards over!? Perhaps you have a different kind of interaction with guards but they and Progo have a love hate relationship, they love to hate Progo. Bodies about and Progo's covered in blood that's not all Progo's... Progo hopes you two are smooth talkers. Well if we must, Progo still an upstanding visitor and believes is in the right." Progo feels nervous around guards, he's had to talk himself out of more then one unfavorable spot before being a half orc in a questionable line of work. He has found avoiding the guards serves as useful then asking for thier help, now adding dead bodies to the mix will be even harder to justify.
“I think so…,” Dev answers Lokilia. If the group comes across guardsmen and they seem approachable — or even better, recognized as connections with Normont — Dev will alone inform them of the bodies. The tiefling carries no weapons or visible armor and his thin arm, though possessing grace and teen awkwardness in equal proportion, is hardly threatening when he raises it to point to where the bodies are. He mentions Normont’s name as a friend. (I’m hoping no roll is needed, but rolled an even 10 Deception if required.)

Lokilia is a little reluctant at first to just let Dev speak to the guard alone. But she is willing to go along with it. Afterall, if something happens then at least she would be able to alert Normont. She glances to Progo as the tiefling wanders over to the guardman. (Presuming that happens of course!) "I get it. I'm not sure how likely a guard would be to believe us that those folks just came after us. Our companion, Normont, he was a Rifle..." She pauses a moment. "Well, Rifle Something. More or less part of the Pale Guard. He knows many of them and would be able to speak for us. He's actually meeting with Lady de Rolo. Cassandra, not the one that is associated with Trinket. He's a bear, and part of the ruling family!" She seems rather pleased by this information.
As she talks, she moves along past where Dev left them, slowing a bit but not wanting to just stop and look. If possible though she does sneak a glance over now and then to see how things are going. (Perception: 6)
Progo watching Dev approach the guard as he listens to Lokilia, eyes getting bigger and bigger the more she explains. " So you mean to tell Progo that your friend is an ex guard who has connections in guards, will talk for you to guards but is currently busy talking to," Progo audibly gulps, "Lady de Rolo and a bear ruling their family. You wouldn't be related to said bear... would you? You know, after the whole bear thing you did back there." Progo found himself more concerned with what kind of situation he stumbled into and forgetting about the dead men around them. Perhaps this is Progo's opertunity to get into some real places to collect authentic treasures that don't need fixing to sell. But what would this guard friend have trouble with Progo? Progo had never experienced dealing with ex guards, perhaps they are more reasonable to see reason with Progo. He was aware of Cassandra de Rolo, but this was first he had heard about Trinket de Rolo...
Lokilia laughs. "I'm not a bear! I can transform into a bear though I guess. There's many animals I can change into." She then continues, "Yes, our friend has connections to the guard. And he's not talking to the Lady de Rolo with the bear. He's talking to the other Lady de Rolo." She pauses, trying to piece together what she'd learned when looking at the portraits yesterday. "The bear Lady de Rolo is wife of Lord de Rolo. But the other Lady de Rolo is Lord de Rolo's sister. Cassandra? Umm, yea, I think so."
"There's a bear cub too. I forget his name," she adds. She seems to be just talking randomly, but she does seem to be keeping an eye on Dev through as she's talking.

The trio moved up the street letting Dev get further ahead as he noted and approached a pair of guards who were hurrying towards them, he didn't recognise either of them and they seemed to regard him with some suspicion until he mentioned Normont.
" Ah, yeah. Trish said Normont had a tiefling friend....we'll check it out.....but might need to ask some questions later.....well someone will....probably not us....", the freckle faced lad finished uncertainly.
" Robbery was it?"
The two of them didn't really note Lokalia or Progo as they attempted to appear professional and composed in front of Dev.
Wherever there's less light, he'll have to rely on his Dwarven eyes. Carrying around a torch is out of the question. Werhann looks outside the cell, but upon seeing how it is, decides to push his luck.
He's clearly being toyed with, but as much as he'd like to deny their satisfaction, he must search for a way out, or food... at least water. If they know what he's doing, they knew he was going to do it anyway. Now he must find out just how far they'll let him go.
Werhann pushes the door open and steps out of the cell. Looking around him for any clues that might suggest the direction of an exit or a storage room for food or water- if he has a choice - he'll follow them. If there's more than one path but neither looks different from the other, he'll take the left-most one as they're equal to him anyway.
Of course, he'll try to walk around quietly and while staying alert to any sound or movement around him.
If needed:
Stealth: 11+2=13.
Perception: 1!-1=0 (I misclicked and rolled a Nature check for this one, but adjusted the bonus accordingly here).
Werhann looked right and left, right was simply a short roughly dug corridor ending in a solid wall, he headed left managing to step relatively lightly through the narrow corridor until he reached a t-junction.
He headed left and almost immediately heard a loud click as the stone underfoot shifted.
( Dex Save- DC 14 or take 14 Slashing as hidden blades swing across the corridor.)
Lucky that whoever set the trap didn't also make it silent, Werhann is able to leap forward just in time to keep his head on his shoulders, and said shoulders still attached to one another. Unfortunately, he's not fast enough to avoid the blade entirely, and he falls to the ground from the force of it, a deep bleeding gash in his back. He couldn't help but let out a faint, pained cry when he was hit, but for the moment, he can keep his wits and endure the pain, remain silent and stand back up.
'Who the hell installs such a thing?' He thinks to himself. No, it doesn't matter. What matters is that he nearly lost his life due to his inability to notice the trap in time. If there's one, there could be more, and he's not too certain he could endure another hit like this. Of course, he was prepared to face some danger in trying to escape his imprisonment, but... perhaps in his desperation, he didn't assess the situation correctly? But then again... rotting in that cell wasn't all that much better. Especially now that he cut his ropes, quite an irreversible act. Besides, even if his captors didn't care, he still needed water and food, else it doesn't really matter where he stands when he dies.
Werhann decides to push onwards anyway, as going back now didn't seem safer than what might or might not lie ahead. But this gash in his back. It hurts, and he feels his hot blood dripping down his back. If only he could tend to it, perhaps cool it down a little to numb the pain. Werhann holds the blade he willed into existence in his hand, looking at its broad side. The metal, it should be cold enough. If merely for a moment.
Werhann reaches back and carefully touches the gash in his back with the broad side of the blade, but suddenly, he experiences a sharp cold spreading around his back, farther than the blade touches. It's soothing, however, numbing the pain away. He draws the blade away, but the feeling remains. He can still feel the pain in his back; it isn't cured, but it's not as excruciating as it was just a moment ago. Although not sure what happened, Werhann decides to accept the gift for now. It must be related to the ability to conjure the blade, too, and those are things to worry about on another day.
Werhann casts Armor of Agathys and gains 10 temporary hit points that will last for up to an hour. Should any creature hit him with a melee attack while these THP remain, it'll receive 10 cold damage.
“I uh,” Dev answers, “I think you will just want to collect them. I think they’re both dead.” Clocking that the guards had reacted to his friend’s name, Dev continues with his strong suit. “I’m just on my way to see Normont in fact. He was meeting with Lady De Rollo just now… I’d better be on my way, I wouldn’t want to keep him waiting…”

Lokilia tries to keep moving, slowly, as it seems Dev has things in hand with the guard. Normont's name had worked the trick. And they'd even heard of the tiefling companion! That was fortunate! "In a pinch, I generally turn into a wolf. Though I like cats maybe the best," she says, seeming to be trying to keep up the chatter with Progo. "I still remember the first time I came by Dev's place back in Drynna as a cat! Fun!" She smiles brightly, clearly enjoying the memory. "Spiders are good for hiding. Or climbing."
She's still keeping an eye out though for Dev, hoping those guards will simply let him be on his way...

" Body collection......great......we'll have to cordon them off til someone rouses the undertaker I guess....."
" Meeting with Lady de Rolo? Alright for some I guess........though fair cop.....he's a much more dedicated Guard officer than either of us.", he chuckled.
" All right, we'll go see the folks you definitely didn't murder. I mean...I'm not a judge....guess we'll take some witness statements while we're there."
" Off you pop."
The two Pale Guard slouched down the street toward an uneventful morning.......

Werhann continued his way along the corridor but his dwarven senses were telling him the corridor was sloping downwards at an increasingly steep rate, the air was growing warmer and moister and there was a slightly sickly ammonia and citrus smell on the air......the stone was beginning to get slick underfoot.....
From this distance glancing down the street, Progo would likely focus on the imposing 7ft tall Earth Genasi in full plate armour with the shield strapped to his back and a longsword sheathed at his side. He might then look at what would appear to be a slender wolf-like dog padding next to the heavily armoured Earth Genasi, and only then perhaps notice the diminutive figure walking alongside them both.
It is only when he gets a bit closer he would likely realise the wolf-like dog is not all it seems, being entirely mechanical in nature. He would then notice that the diminutive figure is a fairly young Gnome, standing at less than 4ft tall and with spiky blond hair. He is wearing a shiny breastplate, has a large firearm strapped to his back alongside a backpack, and some kind of tool dangling from his belt. This diminutive figure, he is likely about to learn, is Normont; who hasn't noticed Lokilia and Progo yet.
When Lokilia spots Normont and Quinn, she is quick to point them out. "Ah! There's Normont now. And that's Quinn with him. He's an Ashari like me, though he's Earth while I'm Air." She then raises her hand and starts to wave. "Hey you guys! Normont! We're over here!" She moves at a bit brisker pace towards them.
Hearing Lokilia call out, Normont turns and sees the pair approaching.
"Hey, Lokilia. Nuts and bolts, Dev. That is quite the disguise! Not quite what you described though", he calls back as he approaches, obviously impressed by who he thinks is his Tiefling friend. After all, it was Dev's plan to go to Glinnick's in disguise and for Lokilia to wild shape.
"Oh, but Dev..." Lokilia starts, momentarily confused by Normont's words. "Dev's over talking to the guard. Or he was." She turns back to point Normont to where the tiefling is at. "We had a bit of trouble. This here is Progo. Um, a street merchant I guess selling..." She looks over at him a moment. "Shields and stuff like that. He helped us with... well..." She lowers her voice, "I presume some of those Nameless Ones. They were following us."

The pair of Lokilia and Progo moved much further ahead and were almost ready to turn towards the Lilac Inn when they saw Normont and Quinn returning from the Palace at a leisurely pace......
