Rope climbing is not something Dev imagined himself needing to do, unathletic teen that he is. The tiefling regards his weathered boots carefully. ‘Come on magic boots, this is up to you,’ he whispers.
He thanks Magnus for Guidance with a tentative nod, and biting his lip, tries to quietly pull himself up the rope when usually, even climbing inviting tree branches provides an extreme obstacle.
‘They are magic, they are!,’ thinks Dev, about his shoes (oops, not boots), as somehow he locks and pushes, locks and pushes his way up the rope. When he gets to the top, the others see him, eyes sunken with fatigue, but euphoria written on his face. At least, for a moment, before the seriousness of the situation reasserts itself and the teenage bard’s expression falls flat once again and he looks for his friends and someplace to hide.
(Stealth 28, Athletics... 10. :'[ Even with advantage and guidance.)
Jasper deftly sneaks with the group - though the mail they usually wear provides great protection, they're grateful for this leather armor and its lack of jangling chain links that do not assist in stealth whatsoever. Perhaps it was fixation on this trivial observation, or maybe fixation on the case itself, all the moving parts and sinister elements that make up this scheme, that cause Jasper to struggle climbing the rope, even with Magnus' magical guidance.
Though some struggle with the ascent, to some amused smiles from Sata, the group makes it up and through the window utterly silently......and when they enter they are very glad that is the case. looking over the edge of the landing they see dozens upon dozens of the dead milling about below on the earthern floor of the warehouse.
Sata moves quickly across to the office on the landing level and peeks inside shaking her head at the group, as she comes back she accidentally kicks a crate but her sorceries cover the sound enough that none of the deceased below look up.
When she gets back to the group she moves carefully to the edge of the landing and points down. Below, behind a stack of crates you can see a wooden hatch in the floor, there are no dead around the hatch itself but there are quite a number on the other side of the crates.
" We need to get down there without any of those things seeing us.", Sata whispers.
Normont looks around at the dead lumbering about below, trembling slightly as he tries to figure out if they can simply abseil down.
"We could just drop a rope and hope they are not very perceptive. Or perhaps cause a diversion?", he suggests. "My main concern is not getting down, gravity will assist with that adequately. How do we get back up? Or is there another way out?".
Maguns quietly chimes in, "Well I can use a spell to hopefully open the hatch which should be quiet enough. Then as as Normont suggested I saw we tie a rope and drop the end of it into the opened hatchway so we can just slide down the rope and into the hatch without making any noise, hopefully anyway."
If the group agrees with this Magnus will whisper out the spell to Mage Hand, having it appear right above the hatch (if I am within 30' of it) and then will see if the hatch is unlocked and open it.
If the hatch opens and if a rope is lowered, Dev perhaps would notice one of the dead turning toward the rope as it snakes downward. Almost without thinking, the tiefling would raise his pan pipes and play an almost imperceptible, breathy tune. An illusion would come into being, of a blank warehouse wall, identical to the wall under the landing. The illusion would be suspended in midair between the crates and the landing, so that a creature looking toward the rope would see nothing but this illusory blank wall. (OOC: Minor Illusion)
Lokilia nods in agreement to the plan from Magnus. Though not without a bit of anxiety. This seems pretty risky. She waits for everyone to concur and is set to go once the rope is readied.
Sata nods to the others then looks at Normont, " No way out that I know of but I haven't been down before, I only know of it because my sister mentioned it....not sure if you've run into her yet. She's nice but a little too soft hearted for her own good."
As the companions touch down the see they are in a large vaulted cavern, a pillar nearby has a number of people chained to it including Hook, some of the winery workers and the two youngsters, Kile and Gile, that were guarding you at the winery.
The young half-elven woman, Asoto, that you faced off against at the winery looks up as you arrive but does not shout a warning, instead she very deliberately turns away and moves towards the people chained to the pillar.
A large brazier a few feet away throws shadows off of distant vaulted ceilings and illuminates six figures in deep purple robes who stand on a raised, golden dias.
Sandra Galador is moving about the dias sprinkling oils and anointing it with smoke from a thurible. The tall, sleek Liam Ocici, the head of his house, accompanies her with an enraptured expression.
At the edge of the cavern in the shadows indistinct figures move about.
Sandra looks over towards the prisoners, “Oh my, little doves, fret not. All your worries will soon be over.”
Liam leans in, “Yes, dear, let’s put them out of their misery.”
He chuckles to himself as Liam and Sandy go back to the dais and their preparations, leaving you a few scant moments to decide on a course of action.....
Sata bristles with anger seeing the two boys restrained and gives her sister a knowing look, Tyler, for his part, looks crestfallen.
Quinn my able to watch people get murdered, trying to get close to the head of the household. He moves to attack Liam hoping to make enough of a distraction to free the prisoners.
"Nuts and bolts", Normont curses as he sees the ritual in full flow, along with the replacement prisoners. Recognising two of the prisoners as the young Ocici boys, a thought occurs to him. Seeing Quinn head off, he whispers as loud as he can to try and get the Earth Genasi's attention.
"That woman has some kind of hold over the Ocici guy, we should focus on her!".
He then scurries over towards the prisoners, looking at the young half-elven woman hopefully. His hope is as she hasn't already given them away, she might actually be on their side.
"The Galador woman has your father in her thrall, you all have to help us stop her", he says to the half elf and the prisoners, as he gets his lock picks out and tries to free them.
Thieves' Tools: 20+4=24 (how many can he free with that roll? :-) ) Special: Bless from Magnus - round 1/10
Sata slaps her forehead as Quinn charges in, " Well...I guess he'll do as a distraction."
" No shit.", whispers Asoto slipping him the key to the restraints as she turns away, grasps Sata by the hand and they both vanish into thin air.
With his exceptional skills and the key to the restraints he manages to free all the prisoners almost immediately. Hook stands and nods, " Spare blade?"
The two youngsters scramble to their feet and take the knotted ropes out from between their fingers, " Thanks. Bye." They both dissolved into mist and then reappeared at the top of the ladder leading to the hatch before disappearing through it.
The workers looked around for somewhere to hide but settled for huddling behind Hook.
Sandra and Liam turned as one as Liam easily sidestepped Quinns attack.
Having lost his dagger trying to help the last lot of prisoners he had come across, Normont simply shrugs apologetically at Hook's request for a spare weapon. "Nuts and bolts", he curses not for the first time as the youngsters teleport out of the basement and the half sisters disappear.
As his companions’ charge commences and the battle begins, the tiefling’s horns and eyes begin to glow. A steady pulse with a sharp, heavy backbeat like the rhythmic slamming of a door resonates through the chamber.
His youthful voice, in all its eerie potency, carries across the room.
“They told him, "Don't you ever come around here"
"Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear"
The fire's in their eyes and their words are really clear
Quinn breathing an air of relief when he notices that the prisoners are free. His distraction worked perfectly. Now it is time to make sure that the rest of the party leaves. “Go, I will hold them off as long as I can, go get help from the watch.”

"Hold on", Normont whispers to Sata and takes out his rope, throwing it up to her. "Tie it up and drop it down if you please".
He then waits for the rope to be dropped, and attempts to scurry up.
