In a flash, Kitryn rushes towards the loud Ruffian and leaps past him, smashing his head with the butt of her sword in the process. The ruffian's eyes roll up into his head and he collapses, unconscious. Landing next to the nervous Ruffian, she sinks her dagger into a bicep and the pain of it renders him unconscious as well.
You still screwed up the damage...
First blow is 1d6 + 2
Second blow is 2d6 because of the crit.
But yes, put 1d6 into the dice macro and it will work going forward.
I say we tell them that one will live, the other will be fed to the creature. Whoever gives us the most truthful info will be the one let go... Thoughts?
"does anyone have a silver tongue? i'm game to scare em but that may not be the best choice here? these two might be willing to lie through their teeth if they think they'll die, but if it turns they are not scared enough... "
ooc; i can intimidate +1 not pursuade -1, anyone else want to chance the roll with their bonus?
We should separate them then tell them this. That way they aren't falling over each other trying to one up the other on lies. Separated they don't know what the other says.
I have zero skill in any persuasion or intimidation. Not the best choice for convincing. (But, really, we just need to manage convincing one of them.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
speaking to the one we've awakened, with a blade held to his chin,
'hi-ya, we're going to have a bit of a chat. you've gotten into some trouble here and seem eager to escape it. thing is, me and my friend here (point to Leek) in particular are really not apt to let you do that. good news though, there's two of you so we can still be satisfied killing one of ya if the other satisfies our questions..'
Questions: A: Who is the leader? (name, where is he from, where can we find him, etc.)
B: Other than the Nothic, what other surprises can we expect from the caves?
C: Why did the Redhand (that's their name, right?) come to this town? What is their agenda?
D. What other cities are the Redhand active in?
E: Why are they not bothering that one woman? (I forget who she was. I think she was the head of mining guild or some kind of trader. )
It's been an unusually busy day for me, so you all get the quick version today:
Glasstaff leads the Redbrand Ruffians. No idea where he came from, but he's here somewhere. Probably in his quarters. The only other creatures other than the crazy eye thing are bugbears. Redbrands didn't come here from somewhere, they were formed a few months ago by Glasstaff from local thugs. They were paid by someone called The Black Spider to frighten off adventurers and intimidate the locals.
The woman is well connected. Glasstaff is afraid if he crosses her she can call on resources and allies that would squash the Redbrands.
alright lets try this again..
going for non-lethal this time.
Attack: 22 Damage: 8
Attack: 13 Damage: 6
bonus: 6
ok well that's nicer, i don't think the dmg dice part of equation is right?!
i got it.. i need to enter "1d6" in the value not simply "6"
ie Attack: 24 Damage: 7
redo of dmg rolls from post #741 attack one:5 and critical hit on second two times:5
so thats 4,8,4=16

Ah 2d6 vs 2xroll. Got it. We'll get it right eventually!
"Leek, the lights please."
"Let's bind em and wake one to see what can be learned, then decide the next path."

OOC: Defeating 2 Redbrand Ruffians gives each of you another 40 XP.
That's a good idea Leek, let's do it.
OOC: If you're going to be doing this, then roll persuasion (whoever) and list your questions.

"i agree, but how to separate em without separating ourselves. lets wake one only and see how much he's willing to say."
Ok. Maybe we should start with the nervous ruffian. We might get quite a bit out of him.
1. We make sure they are all tied up nice and secure.
2. Wake one up (suggestion, nervous one)
3. We tell him that one of them will live, one will be fed to the Nothic. The one who gives us the most honest info wins his life.
4. Questions: A: Who is the leader? (name, where is he from, where can we find him, etc.)
B: Other than the Nothic, what other surprises can we expect from the caves?

Any other suggestions?
See if they know anything about orcs?
Who will do the speaking (persuasion/intimidation/deception) rolls?

You can get advantage if someone Helps you.
I can help!
Just for fun, what do you say to intimidate the ruffian into answering questions?
Kitryn can roll another d20 for Intimidation.

We should round the up and feed the beast!!!
