Lesviel gives Mei a slightly perplexed look. "I don't think your sister meant a sort of clergyman. Unless things are quite different where you're from." She shakes her head, "Anyhow, with no jobs are you keeping yourself busy with activities?"
"Oh." Mei mirrors Lesviel's perplexity in equal (if somewhat accidentally comical) proportions. Though she wouldn't put it past her sister to try and pull the wool over her eyes in that way.
"Yes! Though I wish I could do even more. There's not enough time in the day. Or days in the week," she sighs lightheartedly. She'd fit a whole 'nother lifetime into these four years if she could. She has to, really. "But I'm really happy with the two I chose. I'm doing Iron Lifters with Knap and then, um..." she reddens at the long and somewhat pretentious name, "the Distinguished Society of Fine... Artists."
Lesviel smiles at first at the mention of Iron Lifters. "I wouldn't have expected that. But I hope you and Knap both have fune with that! And fine arts! I presume you are hoping to focus on your painting then?" she asks Mei.
Mei nods. “Mhm! Though I’d love to try other mediums too. One of the members said she’d teach me pottery. Nora Ann,” she says, in case Lesviel or the others have met her. “And Cadoras has this technique for using arcane fractals as sculptures—it sounds amazing,” she gushes as she flops back on the floor, still a bit tipsy. “Everyone is sooo talented here.”
“Guardok at gymnastics too,” she grins at the earth genasi. “Right, Malvyn? So—“ a yawn intercepts the thought and she curls onto her side, lulled by her horizontal position, “—talented.”
Mae looked down at the other girl looking up at her and pushed some of her hair back behind her ear. "Well anyone is welcome of course. I'm sure you'll fit in with everyone else just fine. Anytime you need some entertainment and a drink it is the place to go I think." She suddenly blushed at the comment about a sugar father, but her expression darkened, her brow furrowing and her body stiffened a bit until the conversation tilted away from the topic once more.
The purple-skinned Tiefling does not quite get the talk about the sugar father, but he nods in agreement with Mei's statement. "Oh yes, I can indeed verify that Guardok put on quite a show at the gymnasium." He says with an friendly smile.
"Oh, I'm sure you will have a part to play." Malvyn says to the Genasi with a reassuring smile. "I suppose you are reahearsing with that...Quinitillius then?" He adds after a moment with no real effort to hide his disdain for the pretentious actor.
As Mae mentions the Bow's End tavern was the place to go, Malvyn only smiles and nods to himself. He had been there every night of the week to watch Aurora's performance and he couldn't get enough of her hauntingly beautiful music, well, that and her quite intriguing company.
"Stars, they're auditioning already!" Mei sits up properly and tucks herself nearer Mae, quite excited about it. The visits from traveling theatre troupes were amongst her favorites back in the village--always begging her grandmother to let her go see them. It was a chance to be transported outside of her little world. "Which play did they decide to do?"
If she had elven ears, they'd have perked at Malvyn's question. Trying--and likely failing--not to seem especially interested in Guardok's answer, she fiddles with a loose thread from her sleeve, head tilting to one side until she accidentally bumps Mae's knee and smiles apologetically back at her.
Mae looked down suddenly at the bump against her knee, seeing Mei against her smiling again. "Umm, are you alright down there Mei?"She gently shifted her legs to cross one over the other, a touch away from Mei's head, not wanting to knock her accidentally somehow. She looked back at the group and frowned a bit at the mention of Quintilleus but refrained from commenting.
Mei nods, then shifts a bit so as not to crowd her friend. Though, from what Mae has experience of the diviner so far, she knows it's likely she'll drift back again. The diviner seems always drawn, however unintentionally, to closeness.
"Sorry. My brothers used to always complain that I get underfoot," she answers, though with fondness for the memory. Mei adds with a little laugh, "I think they'd find it funny that that's not changed."
Her gaze lingers a moment longer on Mae's face as the aasimar frowns. Though she's been paying close attention to what causes them--and how best to avoid being the cause of them--Mei decides she wants to learn what makes her smile too.
Not Quentillius, she thinks as she faces forward again with a little grin to herself.
"Oh! I've met Nora Ann. She's a Resident Assistant at one of the other dormatories!" Lesviel says when Mei mentions the name. "Never knew she could make pottery." She sits back listening to the various conversations, sipping from her drink.
"Well, I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise", Guardok replies regarding the play. "I did practice a bit with Quentillius, and Rubina too. It was good fun, but I think Quentillius does take it a little more seriously than most", he continues noticing some of the group are less enamoured with Quentillius than others.
"I need to decide which parts I want to read for. Rubina is going to help me prepare for my audition. And I guess I can always help back stage if it doesn't work out".
Mei nibbles at her bottom lip as Guardok explains. "W-Was he, um... well--I mentioned you in my reply," she quietly admits. "I told him you had some really fun ideas! Did you get a chance to mention anything about combat choreography with swords? Do you think this play will have any? Maybe they could add it in if not? Some swashbuckling would be so exciting!"
Lost momentarily in a daydream about pirates and forbidden romances. Blinking it away, her amethyst eyes then narrow suspiciously over a mischievous smile as she leans forward to scrutinize Guardok's expression. "The Pirates of Denzance." She searches his reaction for any sign that might be the play.
"You replied to Quentillius and wrote of me?", Guardok replies quite shocked. "It was kind of you to say nice things".
He jumps up and starts to mimic pirates and swordplay, placing a hand over his eye akin to an eye patch. "Argh! That be an awfully good idea", he says as he dances around the room.
"But I am afraid that is not the play. I haven't read through it all yet, so there might be sword play, but if not I doubt the director will be keen to add some on my say so. I will need to prove myself a proper actor first. A proper fespian", he says as he takes up a serious pose and really stresses the words actor and fespian.
"Yes, that would be one way of putting it I suppose."The purple-skinned Tiefling mutters as Guardok mentions that Quintillius takes his acting more seriously than most. Listening to Guardok and Mei, Malvyn almost regrets taking the job as a shelver. It seemed nice to have something interesting to tell your floor mates, not that he would want to be closer than necessary to the pretentious fespian but hopefully his job at the Strixhaven Star would at least allow him to bring something remotely entertaining to share with the others. "So who is the...um...director of this play?"He asks curiously, hoping it would be someone that would see Quintillius for who he was.
Guardok thinks back to the meeting, "It was a halfling fellow, but I'm afraid I don't remember his name".
"What about you Mal, you got a job right? What about clubs, did you join the newspaper?", he asks, having forgotten during the week. So much information from his lessons and clubs is causing a bit of cognitive overload for the poor genasi.
"Well, um, as I think I mentioned I got this job as a shelver in the Biblioplex. Nothing much to say about that I'm afraid other than that I certainly get a good knowledge about what books to find there, and where. You can of course always count on me to find you whatever litterature you would need, whether it is for studies or something else, well, as long as it is not part of the restricted reading of course."The purple-skinned Tiefling says with a friendly smile. "Also yes, my first job for the Strixhaven Star is to cover the Student council meeting next week. I have no idea what kind of issues and topics that might be brought up and discussed there but I intend to find out to read up on it in order to come prepared to understand and make relevant notes from the meeting. I would of course be grateful if you would take a look at my text before I turn it over to the Star."He says, looking at Guardok and then around at the others, then again glancing curiously down under Mae's chair and over to Mei, hoping she would reveal any surprise she might have soon.
Sipping at her drink, Lesviel listens to the various conversations. Hearing Meiand Guardokmention getting a letter, she seems compelled to ask about it. "What is this about a message? Was this from an admirer?" She does seem to note the different reactions to the name 'Quentillius' but seems more interested in the sending of notes.
Guardok smiles at the purple-skinned teifling, "Sounds like you found the places here that really suit you Mal. I know you've told me most of that before, but with all the lessons and jobs and clubs it is not so easy keeping it all in my head".
"I would really like to read your article. Will it be serious or are you allowed to add a little humour into it? And what about pictures?", he says hoping it would be an enjoyable read not just an informative one.
When Lesviel asks about the letter from Quentillius, he simply glances to Mei.

Guardok's stone features seem to darken with a slight red tinge as Mei compliments him.
"Well, there's always more to learn. And I learnt I need to work on getting stronger, like you are doing Mei. And Knap too", he replies.
"The gymnastics was fun, and the drama as well. I just hope I manage to get a part in the play".

From 404 you hear gentle purrs and occasional fluff. Knap dreams of being a spider.
[ooc, thought I’d just check in, Knap still having a nap, and I’ve had bunch of work at moment but will be more present soon]
