The fiery red eyes of the purple-skinned tiefling briefly flare up with anger at Piero's less than polite response, but he slows down to let the young man go on by himself. He would of course have to respect Piero's choices, but some level of manners should be expected from every student at Strixhaven. Instead Malvyn falls back to the rest of his floor mates. "It seems like our mysterious floor mate Piero over there is not at all interested in being our floor mate."He says with a slightly strained smile looking in Piero's direction ahead, but then he shrugs. "His loss if you ask me."He adds giving the others a friendly and appreciative smile as they continue into their next class.
"Well, as was alluded to in the discussion with Professors Sharpbeak and Flintwind I suppose he's living with someone else." The purple-skinned tiefling responds, feeling a bit strange over this thought, wondering if this other person had a room by themselves or if there was a flat mate out there that was very considerate and willing to share personal space with a third person. "He didn't seem inclined to elaborate on the reasons for not staying at Dresar Hall though. But yes, I suppose you can use your room to reahearse in all you want now." He finishes, smiling down at the genasi beside him.
Mei is quite clearly hanging on by a thread at this point. Her amethyst eyes are bleary and her bunny slippered feet drag along in a slow shuffle as they make their way towards Magical Physiologies. The smear of ink and imprint of her pen on her cheek speaks to how the end of the previous class went.
As Malvyn goes on ahead to catch up with Piero, she watches from afar with Chara, eyes flicking between the waving Guardok and his ship-in-the-night roomate. When Malvyn and Piero part ways, she hurries to the trio, braids and bunny ears flapping. "He didn't even come over?" she asks, incredulous. "That's so rude! He wouldn't even know what classes to go to today if it hadn't been for you. And are you expected to be the babysitter of his things?" Her cheeks puff up as she stares daggers into the back of Piero's head, though her expression softens as she looks down at Guardok. "Sorry, it's just... he doesn't know how lucky he'd have been to have you as a roommate." Her gazes travels further down, where she finds a rock to kick off the path, though it hits someone's boot as they pass instead.
"Exactly", Guardok says to Malvyn regarding rehearsing in his room. "And at least he's ok. I was starting to get a little worried in truth".
When Mei appears, he can't help but chuckle a little, "Decided to go with the bunny slippers again, Mei?". When he realises she is genuinely offended by Piero, he sympathises but isn't quite so irritated by it. "I'm not sure he's worth getting upset about, and if he is, he is yet to show it. In the meantime, you're all right it's his loss, because he won't get to be a part of The Study Group!", he says with a big smile.
The smile of the purple-skinned tiefling widens as Guardok mentions The Study Group. The comfort and reassurance the genasi and this group would mean for the insecure tiefling could not be overstated. "About that, are we still up for studying in one of the study rooms in the Biblioplex after classes today?" He says with a slightly excited tone, looking around at his floor mates, like this would be the best part of being at Strixhaven, studying whith friends.
Mei looks down at her feet then groans into her hands. "Aaahh, Dryad's sake, I forgot again... I was so worried I wouldn't wake up in time for class and so I went there as soon as they opened the room and then I just went back to sleep but..." she blows out an exasperated breath then laughs, her annoyance already forgotten in the face of Guardok's positivity.
As Malvyn mentions studying after classes, Mei looks far less excited but smiles at her floormate over his excitement nonetheless. "I'll do my best to be 'up' for it," she replies with a sheepish little grin and scratch of her smudged cheek. "One more class to get through first though! Do you think Magical Physiologies is more about... magical creatures? Or like," she looks down her torso, "our physiologies as mages and how we ch-channel it through our bodies?" The diviner clears her throat and looks at the others, though she appears to be looking above each of their heads.
"I--" Mei follows his gaze down then straightens and looks elsewhere as color crawls up her neck, "y-yes, I guess we are!"
Adjusting the strap to her heavy satchel, she says abruptly with a taut laugh, "W-Well! We don't want to be l-late for, um... class!" then hightails it down the path, not even sure if she's going the right way.
"I believe it refers to the physiologies of magical creatures."The purple-skinned tiefling says plainly. "Not saying all life is magical in a sense but creatures that are inherently magical in nature, or so I think at least."He adds after a moment, hoping to sound a bit more humble. He then gives the dreamer a slightly worried look. He wished there was something that could help Mei with her sleep depravation and insomnia problems, he could only imagine the strain it would put on him if he didn't rest well at night. Maybe he could bring it up with one of the professors, but perhaps Mei wouldn't want him to meddle, he knew he was definitely not good with sensing what was appropriate and not.
"I hope they teach us about the primordial elemental creatures, like the Dao, Efreeti, Djinni and Marid. Especially the Dao", Guardok pipes up. "I have heard some tales and folklore, but I bet the professor's here know much, much more".
He looks around at his companions, "You know we all have very different heritages ourselves. I wonder how many unique races will be amongst us students in the Magical Physiologies".
Seeing Mei start to speed up, he breaks into a jog so he can keep up.
Malvyn's insight on Piero does not really reveal much. The other student seems fairly hard to read. Although he brushes off the conversation claiming he has to get to class, you nearly follow him as it is, as you are going to the same place.
All of the floormates arriving at the class, everyone settles in and soon class begins with Professor Veralda Lang introducing herself. "I am an expert in arcano-biology. In this class we will be covering the anatomy, abilities, and dispositions of monsters commonly encountered while adventuring. As a start, we'll be talking about the most basic classifications. What makes something a beast as compared to a monstrosity for instance." She then continues on with the lesson.
It's soon the end of this class, and for all the floormates, the end of classes for today.
The purple-skinned tiefling nods and smiles politely as Guardok mentions the Dao. Malvyn's interest had always been with aberrations and other unspeakable things from the Far Realm but he felt sharing that with his new friends might not be the best idea. Maybe some other day. "I must say this Piero is still something of a mystery, don't you think? Would it be strange to try to find out more about what he really is up to? Maybe it is something sinister. Maybe even something the Strixhaven Star would want to share with the students here." Malvyn says the last part with a wink and a smile.
Still taking on his responsibility to nudge the dreamer whenever needed during class, Malvyn is especially attentive when Professor Lang discusses aberrations, but he is generally studious, taking notes and an active part in class. Afterwards he tries to catch the others outside the classroom. "So, late lunch and then study group back at the Biblioplex?" He asks the others with a slightly excited smile.
Chara does her best to be a good student, taking notes and whatnot. But the reality is, she isn't all that good at it. She's really going to need to practice a LOT before she can actually keep up with the lectures in real-time. She sighs as she puts her books away, making a mental note to ask one of her classmates about possibly borrowing their notes.
"Yes, he does seem like a kind of odd fellow, doesn't he?" Chara says thoughtfully in response to Malvyn. "But... I doubt he's evil... well... I certainly hope he isn't, at least..."
She smiles at the suggestion of lunch and a study session.
"That sounds nice to me! And... um... I might need someone to help me out a bit with the notes... I kind of have a hard time writing everything down while trying to listen to the lecture... would that be too much trouble?"

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
"Where oh, where oh, does Piero go?", Guardok blurts using his hand to emphasise each word with a chuckle at the headline he has made up in response to Malvyn mentioning the Strixhaven Star.
"Of course it's up to you, but I am not sure I have any more energy to spend on my room mate. Too much study to do and too many nice folk to concentrate on".
When Chara mentions notes, he scrunches up his face and shakes his head, "You really wouldn't want my notes. And not just because we don't share many classes. I think I probably struggle as much as you do by the sounds of it".
"I think I might go for a walk and meet you all at the Biblioplex later. Had my lunch during my break before class".
"Oh no, I doubt he's evil, just a bit impolite perhaps."Malvyn answers the winged tiefling with a grin. "And I'll be happy to lend you my notes, can't promise you will be able to read them but I'll help with that too if you want." He adds with a friendly smile, hoping to encourage and reassure Chara.
"Okay, see you later then Guardok." Malvyn says with a nod to the short genasi.
Malvyn would want to spend the afternoon studying in the Biblioplex with any who would join him, but also sort out things with his extracurriculars, at least finding and talking to Mina Lee about writing for the Strixhaven Star, mentioning the scoop about the incident in the Biblioplex.
"Oh, Chara, I could show you how to use abbreviations for taking notes if you'd like? They really help me keep up, especially if I've, um... dozed off." Mei gives Malvyn a sheepishly apologetic smile, grateful he'd nudged her awake all day. "My father used them when he went here too! He said they were a lifesaver with Professor Humblewumble, though I'm not sure if they still teach here or not..." she trails off in wonder, seeming to drift into a bit of a daydream before coming to.
"But um, if it's okay, I also have, um... s-something I need to do." Mei glances briefly over her shoulder. "J-Just quickly! So I'll meet you all there! It would be nice to do some studying in the Book Gardens too!" The diviner gives a little wave and starts off, then sees the direction Guardok is headed in and quickly shifts to go the opposite way. "See you later!"
Mae found the class discussion fairly interesting, but was glad the when the class was over. She made a beeline back to her room to put her things down for a while and then went back out to inquire about a job at the tavern and then to find Rubina or Aurora about joining the Showband.

Insight on Piero: 8
In response to Guardok, Knap points in the direction Malvyn had beelined.
“That person over there with the dashing air about him. Elusive as a platypus.”
Malvyn returns with the Piero update and Knap can’t help but feel a little disappointed.
“Yeah, his loss…I guess. Do you know why though?
Guardok shrugs, “Never mind, having a room all to myself will be an experience in itself”, he says merrily.
