Mei throws eye-daggers Piero’s way before wilting like her morning glories. She slumps to the floor with an ungraceful thud, ignoring the searing pain in her leg. It’s a strange scene to behold, the lounge now littered with dead frogs, their colorful corpses like morbid holiday decor.
As Mae asks after injuries, the diviner glances back at Cadoras then at Knap to ask, “Are you okay? You both got frog kisses.” She tries to summon healing energies from the cards but finds herself unable to pluck the threads of the Weave that they hold.
Mae rushes over to the limp Mei, laying her warm, soft hands on her leg and channeling her angelic heritage to restore 3 points of health to Mei. Her eyes flare golden yellow for a brief moment as she applies the healing, then sits back on herself and waits. "It's not much Mei, but can you walk now?"

Seeing the Aasimar taking care of the wounded purple-haired oracle, Malvyn moves over to the green-haired Elf, offering to heal his wounds. "Are you okay?"He asks worriedly, looking him over. If Cadoras agrees, the Tiefling would use his mystical powers to heal the Elf.

Once dealt with, the purple-skinned Tiefling's curiosity quickly takes over, and he moves to inspect the frogs, wondering if he would find black goo on them or if the weird incidents would be unrelated.
Guardok surveys the scene as he lets his spell fizzle away.
"I wonder if these frogs were small and something enlarged them, or if they were always this size and someone shrunk them and left them outside", he ponders, unable to help with the healing.
"It is certainly suspicious, and doesn't feel natural", he adds, looking to Knap for confirmation when mentioning the natural part.
“I told you all frogs were strange.” Knap’s frown shows his disappointment with the mayhem. ”it’s difficult to tell what they’re thinking, and those hypnotic eyes, oh my. As for natural and unnatural…hmm I reckon you might be onto something, Guardok. What’s natural to a frog might not appear all that natural to us but…hmmm…black goo… I wonder…” Knap has a similar suspicion as Malvyn.
(Knap- and others - can roll Ability Checks if they want to try to gather any information.)
Malvynhelps out Cadoras, and the Elf thanks him. "Ah! That feels much better! You all saved my life," he says, a bit dramatically. As he is doing that, all the frogs start to shrink back down to their original normal sizes. They are no longer showing the bright vibrant colors they had during the race. You can now see they are a type of frog quite common to the wet areas around this area. The Tiefling then goes to take a close look at the now dead frogs. He does not find any signs of black goo on the frogs.
With the rampaging frogs subdued, you see an Elf woman hurry back towards the lounge. "What has happened here? Is anyone hurt?" Not too far behind are Aurora and Rubina. A few others make their way back as well, among them Quentillius, Greta, Rosie, and Mina Lee. They each keep back, surveying the damage to the room and furniture.
About to insist that Knap or Cadoras be healed first, Mei is captivated by Maeleve's warm touch and watches as the skin beneath the shorn fabric of her pants stitches back together. Once the warmth has subsided, she gingerly flexes her leg and finds no protest of pain. It becomes quite clear she'll be able to walk without issue as the petite mage flings herself at Mae, wrapping the other girl in a hug.
"It is much. Thank you," she gushes in gratitude over both the healing and inspiration. Mei then pulls back slightly to gaze up at the Aasimar, eyes swimming with guilt. "I'm sorry. I know I... I should have..." she sniffles. "I just hoped we could save them, you know?"
It's with a heavy heart and a sniffle that she looks at then now-little frogs then at Guardok to agree. "It must've been unnatural. It feels like what happened with the fake mimic, don't you think?" Still hanging on her friend, Mei's brow furrows as she thinks through what sort of magic could have wrought such a transformation of color and size. And hostility.
It seems to Meithat a number of transmutation spells might alter the frogs to change their size. But the change in demeanor is outside what she would expect. It is like perhaps something is corrupting a normal magic. But it's not anything you are familiar with, whatever it might be.
Pierohas come over as well to take a look at the frogs. "Looking at them small it is hard to believe all the trouble they caused."
Knap sighs before whispering a delicate chant to the spirits of the life stream. He ignores Piero and and scans those gathered in the lounge, looking for anyone that might look pleased with what happened.

He then turns towards Greta. “Hey coach, who found the frogs again?”
With everyone else still asking around the students for answers, Guardok addresses the elven lady who has turned up.
"These frogs had grown very large and aggressive, Miss. There are a few cuts and bruises, but I don't think anyone is hurt that badly", he replies to her. "I'm afraid we had to defend ourselves, and there has been some damage", he adds looking around at the stat of the place.
Mae holds onto her floormate gently and smiles back at her. "No Mei, no guilt. We did what needed to be done. They were bad frogs. I don't know why, but defending ourselves and our friends from those who try to hurt is never leaves guilt." She looked down at where some of the wounds had been and then back at Mei's eyes for a moment with a golden twinkle before they caught the small crowd of people rushing back in. "Come, maybe we can find out something about why this happened." She'll help Mei up when ready and then make her way toward Aurora and Rubina. "Are you two all right? Did you see anything unusual with those frogs before the race?"
"I am quite certain it was not that bad, but thank you."The purple-skinned Tiefling says with a small smile to Cadoras, giving him a pat on the shoulder. Although not finding any traces of black goo on the frogs, Malvyn is not entirely convinced the two strange incidents are unconnected. He would have to spend some time soon to write something for Mina Lee to read. The Strixhaven students would need to know what happened here. Maybe there had been other strange incidents he diodn't know about yet. Seeing everyone seeming okay, the Tiefling then steps over to the raven-haired performer. "Are you okay, they didn't get to you right." He says to her with sincere care and concern as he gets close.
Mei is lost in thought as she watches her friend go. She doesn’t follow, instead murmuring quietly to herself, “No… not bad frogs,” before stooping next to the once-blue Azure. “Bad magic.” But when was it cast? Before, during, or after? They were already colored when found... and she recalls the frogs had all started belching simultaneously. Did it affect their stomachs somehow?
She gently lifts the frog’s limp form and it’s with an audible gulp and scrunch of her nose that she begins to open its mouth, chanting little apologies as she peers inside. “Sorry, sorry, sorry.”
((With either a medicine/perception check can Mei try and determine if they all ingested something? A charmed object or maybe even the black goo?))
Greta responds to Knap'squestion. "Seemed like lots of students saw the frogs outside. Not far from the cafe. I think it was Rosie though that was setting up the race." She looks over towards the Gnome. "She sent Cadoras off to tell people to come. Though the Elf seemed eager enough to tell everyone without much prompting."
Hearing Greta's statement, Piero says, "Interesting, wasn't that incident at Orientation caused by a chest from the Live-Action Roleplaying Guild? And here they are again with this."
Looking around at the crowd, Knap does not see anyone that seems pleased. Of course, Rosie hears what Pierosaid and comes up to him. "Hey! We've had nothing to do with any of this! We're just trying to put together some fun for people!"
Aurora and Rubina assure Maethat they are fine. Aurora gives Malvyn a slight smile. "All good Mal. You're the one that thrust himself into danger. Are you alright?" Rubina answers Mae's question about the frogs. "There was nothing unusual before the race, other than the bright colors of those frogs. It was strange though how they started belching as they grew to giant size." Hearing the comments, Aurora adds, "Yea, and those glowing red eyes! Out of nowhere! Who has ever seen that sort of thing!"
The Elven woman introduces herself to Guardok as Ellina Tanglewood, the manager of the Firejolt Cafe. "Thank you. All of you did a great job of fending off those creatures. It certainly wasn't your fault they caused all this mess. You really don't have to help cleanup. I've a feeling we're not going to get much business the rest of the day. My staff and I can take care of the aftermath here."
There is no indication of any black goo when Meiinvestigates. Nor any indication of the crickets that you know Knap had fed to him. But everything seems about how she would expect a frog's mouth to be - not that she's an expert.
Mae nods back at Aurora and Rubina, and then seeing Aurora take considerably more interest in Mal, excuses herself from the group. She looks back at the others inspecting the frogs but once it was announced that the staff would clean up, Mae makes her way back outside, beginning to walk slowly back toward the dormitory, all the while her hand staying inside her bag at her side.
Mei withdraws her fingers to let the frog's mouth close--she certainly wasn't going to perform an autopsy to better examine its stomach contents--and looks a bit weepy again. "It wasn't their fault either," she insists to Ellina. "I think it was some sort of... corrupted magic. Like the threads of the Weave were... rotten. But that would be--" her brows knit tightly together, "what--who--could corrupt the fabric of magic like that? Not a student, right?"
Guardok nods to Miss Tanglewood and turns back to his dorm mates.
"Perhaps we should go to where the frogs were found and see if there are any clues as to why this happened there?", he suggests with a shrug. He looks for Rosie and Cadoras and asks, "Exactly where were they? Can you show us?".
