Starker: “You seem unhappy about this turn of events. Surely the expectation of rendering aid applies to those ships not themselves in desperate need of aid. Also, I notice that our sails have started to slacken and that we perhaps are on the edge of being caught in the doldrums ourselves. Perhaps the most prudent course would be to sail off to find the appropriate authority and report the location of yon ship to them?”
“No, Starker. The expectation to provide aid is ever present. The slackened sails are due to my leaving the helm.” Mallinora replies to Starker then speaks up for all of you, “I will fly by to get a good look at her. If it looks real I will approach so you can board.” She waits for responses, “I will then stand off and wait for you to signal okay to bring you back. Find out what is going on.”
“I was hoping for a boring trip…..,” she says walking away.
To Starker and Chadwick she responds, “Spells work the same in the gravity plane as they would on Toril. I will bring us up level with their plane. And, you have to been your own judge about preparedness.”
Mallinora resumes control of the Rogue's Respite and the sails "fill with air" as you are underway again. The view is a bit disconcerting as she executes a barrel roll around the derelict ship. Your eyes tell you that you should be falling but your feet are firmly rooted to the deck of your ship. A circumferential survey of the ship shows its hull to be intact. The top deck looks abandoned. There are some miscellaneous things out of place, but otherwise looks like a normal ship on a voyage. The tree/treant at the stern seems to have lost some leaves. You can see the name of the ship from the stern. It is the Nostromo.... (HA! HA! Just kidding). It is the Transcendent Treant.
Your ship pauses about 400 yards away, then slowly begins to approach. Your main deck is level with the main deck of the Triumphant Treant. The Respite tilts a bit away from the derelict to keep rigging from fouling with that ship's and Mallinora brings the railing up next to the railing of the other ship. It is a short jump to cross from one ship to the next.
“give me a moment to use CM to scout the lower decks”
rituals up Jievs, hands him a lit torch, instructs him to fillow CM closely.
”while doing this I will not be seeing or hearing with my own senses but with the monkey’s. Please protect me while I am in this vulnerable state’
Starker, CM, and Jievs hop over to other ship, and Starker send CM and Jievs below to the next lower deck.
Starker become not insensate but extrasensate(?). Hopefully someone’s got his back and can guide him as he walks along the topdeck to stay within sight sharing range of the scouting monkey.
The top deck of the Touring Treant looks similar to any other galleon. There is a forecastle with two doors leading below deck. On top of the forecastle are two ballistae aimed in FA/R and FA/L firing arcs. Stern is a great oak tree sprouting from the deck of the ship. This replaces the stern castle seen on most galleons. An onager sits on the stern of the ship. The roots of the tree are merged into the deck of the ship. You can see that the tree looks sickly with leaves browning and falling off. Many of its branches are barren at this point. A sense of gloom hovers in the air. Nothing is moving on deck. The sails hang limply from their spars. All is quiet.
There are two doors leading forward to the cabin of the forecastle. Two stairs climb to the top deck of the forecastle. A stair leads below from the main deck just fore of the tree. A large cargo hatch is seen on the main deck and smaller hatches fore and aft.
Cyrus hops to the deck and then below decks through the cargo hatch lattice. Jievs follows and the torch squeezes through the opening.
Starker reports that The next deck down is a cargo hold with another cargo hatch in the floor. There are many plants in planters in the hold. Doors fore and aft. Stairs lead up to the top deck and down below as well.
(I’ll be doing the plane thing from 1 to 6 Mountain time today, so please feel free to crowdsource Starker. No Fireball in the clip today (seems like a bad idea on a wooden ship). Note that Dragon’s Breath has options for effect. Shield is ready for when the xenomorph lunges at me while I am in the airducts.
Cyrus has hopped down through the cargo hatch to the next deck below. This is another cargo deck. This deck is filled with crates and boxes. There are doors to the fore and aft. A smaller hatch is foreward in the deck leading below. There are what appear to be occasional motes of dust coming out of this hatch and there is a swirling blue/purple glow encompassing the hatch.
Kragen crosses over with Starker and provides cover/support while he is using CMM to investigate the ship.
Kragen's crossing appears to be labored and methodical, with 3 points of contact with each ship at all times. You can see that he is extremely uncomfortable with his current surroundings and environment!
Thinking all the while "hope to Tyr, i don't fall into that black abyss"!
Swirling blue/purple glow encompassing the hatch seems bad. Hoid will relay that information to the captain if she is within speaking/shouting distance but too far away to hear the CMMM play by play.
"I recommend that we head below to the first deck and do a cursory check based on CM's observations. Before we head to the Third level with the glowing cargo hatch."
Kragen starts to head towards the hatch heading to the first cargo hold.
"Shale we clear the first deck below which Cyrus observed potted plants/trees?", "Once cleared, we can then work the next deck with the bad JuJu hatch."

Any particular buffs you recommend?
How does Tensors Floating Disc work in between ships up here?

Hoid will head toward the gang plank or whatever is the point for boarding the other ship. He will be the first to cross.

The hatch is a typical wooden lattice cargo hatch. You can see the deck below about 8’ down.
Starker ponders what sort of phenomenon would cause that sort of glow.

Starker:”I have asked Cyrus to pause while we clear through to the deck he is on. There are doors he has not opened up on both decks, I think. “
Starker: “The glow could be many things. My best guess is that it might be a portal. That would explain the eerie emptiness.”
