Trolkarl also leaves the room. Holds his comments for Starker and Chadwick until he is sure the air is warm and Kragen, Yartol, and Xymox are out safely also
Yartol follows you out of the room keeping a watchful eye around him. He crunches the pile of dried sticks and vines that remain from the creature with his boot as he passes it. “I hate those things,” you hear him mutter.
The air in the room is no longer so frigid now that the creature is destroyed.
Starker:”Here you are, Colleague. Other than the glow, it seems to be unremarkable.
Yartol, have you encountered such creatures before instilling youbwith this hatred? What can you tell us of them? In particular, are they solitary or do they grow in packs?”
“They are usually manifest deep inside a forest touched by the Shadowfell. Glenshade Revenant is what I was taught to call them. They feed on your loss and pain,” he pauses to look away. “I hear her voice in the creature’s howling,” he adds quietly.
He is silent a bit and the suddenly turns to face Starker, “You did well using fire against it. The bitter cold aura around them sometimes chokes people, making spell casting difficult. Also, enchanted weapons are more effective. Usually, solitary.”
(( Glenshade Revenant seed added to Starker’s inventory. ))
All of you have regrouped back in the first room of three doors. Cool fog continues to roll off of the middle door. It covers the floor here up to your knees and cascades down the stairs to the level below. All is quiet save for your voices.
Trolkarl’s breath still smokes in the cold air as he fixes the group with a hard look.
I hate structure as much as anyone here… likely more. But heading off alone nearly caused catastrophe . We have to act as one—follow the same plan, not half a dozen. Let’s take Xymox’s approach and move together
Were the insights from Chadwick the purple magic that blasted him when he tried to saunter through?
If so, perhaps bringing a purple gem could be used to diffuse the magical traps here. But to try that we need to know: Were there violet gems in the pile? Can Xymox reopen the now-closed door to the gems?
Yartol resheathes his swords. “We have not sorted out that room,” he says nodding towards the door with the cold fog rolling off of it. “If there is anything to sort out in the first place. And that room has another door,” looking at the forested room where the Glenshade revenant was defeated. “I would like to keep moving. This fell place is no place for dawdling.”
“Chadwick, you mentioned that you learned a bit when you approached the door in the Forest room. It appeared the effects did not happen until you touched the door? Can you elaborate on your interaction, <I learned a bit about the door from my interaction, it seems that it is waiting for a price to pass. Some true essence must be offered to them to calm them for a brief time.>?”
"It was a feeling not something that was explicitly laid out for me, sorry I can't elaborate further.
The pain was terrible and I was shown traumatic events from my childhood. I would not want anyone else to have to be subject to it. That said we still have a duty to rid the world of this evil.
The idea of paying a toll like that does not sound like a good idea, perhaps a dispel magic like we used on the front?"
"Could it have been perpetrated by the evil 'Glenshade Revenant' that Yartol spoke of? Now that we have vanquished the entity, should we try it again? I am willing to go try it."
Looks to the group for descension.
"Should we retrieve the violet gem from the Hands before trying to access the door as Trolkarl has hypothesized?"
If none oppose, Kragen moves to access the tilty floor room via the wall, walks (via the wall) to the door. Opens the Niche door, grabs a violet gem. Then exits the tilty room via the wall. Walks to the Glenshade room via the floor, then scales the wall and walks to the door with the Skull pulsing violet tones.
Chadwick emphasized the importance of offering true essence. We know that opening the door downstairs Starker also needed to speak the truth. It might be easier for one of us to enter the room and share something truthful, and if that leads to skulls and badness, we can try again with a gem and then speak something truthful.
I learned a bit about the door from my interaction, it seems that it is waiting for a price to pass. Some true essence must be offered to them to calm them for a brief time.
I don't know if the offering is permanent, or like a toll to the troll on the bridge.
Yartol responds to Kragen, “I have heard no tales of one of these revenants associated with magic wards, of any kind. My limited knowledge says the door is unrelated to the revenant.”
Kragen walks to the small door in the see-saw room. It is locked.

“Mage Starker, after you inspect the seed, may I have a look at it. Would like to examine and ensure it isn’t tainted.”
assuming Starker hands it to Kragen. “Thank you.”
moves the goggles to his forehead and examines the seed.
It is a glassy, black seed-like thing the size of a walnut. It faintly pulse red-orange from within.

“Agree with Trolkarl, let’s not be hasty in this foul place. I intend everyone leave as we walked in. More dangers confront us.”
”Chad provided some insight into the door. Thoughts on accessing it?”
Starker:”Perhaps another verbal sharing such as the one I offered earlier this long long day?”
