Starker tosses his orb up and down in his hand, investigating the gravity of the situation. He then bends down and studies the grass. Anything odd, perhaps pointing to our not being in Xagyg’s world anymore?
The foliage appears odd. Things are not the correct colors or stem and leaf structure. Gravity seems normal.
Starker: “This is fascinating! Let’s see if we can find someone or something to whom we can speak. But first, let me chack something about out presumed line of retreat …”
rituals up Jievs, hand him some leaves from this side of the veil, attempts to have him go back the bridge and drop the leaves and the return to us.
Jievs gathers some fallen foliage and proceeds through the vine curtain. The vines writhe about and grasp at Jievs and his cargo. Jievs is able to pass through the curtain, but none of his cargo makes it. The vines then hang loosely once he is through.
Cyrus refuses to approach the vines alone after seeing this.
The vines react to Hoid’s approach. He backs off and receives the benefit of Protection from Evil and Good from Starker. The vines continue to react to his approach.
The path leads away from the hill and cave into the bog. The gnarled trees clutter the way with low hanging branches that seem to reach out to you as you pass. When you look, all seems normal. Slowly, the land becomes drier and the forest changes to deciduous trees with dry ground. The path comes to a T-intersection. There is a sign post at the intersection with a sign pointing to the left saying "Here" and a sign pointing to the right saying "There" painted in bright orange letters. At the base of the sign post is a present wrapped in bright red paper with a purple sash and bow.

Starker tries a cantrip, say Mage Hand, to see if magic works normally on this side of the bridge.
It does

We have the tuning fork with us, correct?
Yup.
if Jievs commute works try same with Cyrus Magnus with Starker using CM’s senses.
Kragen wonders aloud... "I wonder how that beast back there would react if shown that Tuning Fork?" has a quizzical look on his face.

Starker will say to Kragen, ”We may have bigger problems to worry about!”
“Hmmmm … “
Starker sends tries to send Jievs through again, this time carrying the pouch of sand Starker brought with him from the other side.
Same result. Jievs passes, but the vines animate and prevent the pouch of sand from passing.
“Double Hmmm”
”Hoid … can you get back through?”
Hoid will approach the vines to see if they begin to react as he approaches. If so, he will back up and ask for protection from evil and repeat.
Starker’s got Protection from Evil ready if needed.
The vines react to Hoid’s approach. He backs off and receives the benefit of Protection from Evil and Good from Starker. The vines continue to react to his approach.
"Looks like we continue forward. If we can't find a way out there, we can circle back and try some fire."
It would be efficient and even elegant if we were to find something evil for Hoid to confront in the next 9 minutes or so.
Forward, double time.
