Heading directly for the lost item takes you through the field of old, rotten vegetation. You approach the area where the dragon ambushed you and find its carcass remains unchanged from where you left it.
The key is beyond this. A large, raised mount of dirt is ahead. It is 25’ high at its peak. Large blocks of stone dot the area around the hill. The key seems to be at the top.

Gneuman: "That's peculiar. The key just sitting there. Is this some sort of trap?"
The mound appears to be dirt from the surrounding area that has been piled up and packed into place. It is a tall mound, but climbing is fairly straightforward. Those that reach the top are greeted with a view that halts them in place. It seems that Hoid's presumption of the dragon NOT being a pauper was, in fact, correct. The dragon was very much NOT a pauper. There is a roughly 50' diameter pile of treasure resting atop the mound. Kragen is readily able to find the key lying on top within a familiar silk pouch containing platinum coins.
Tens of thousands of coins are mixed together you estimate. Gold, silver, platinum and copper can all be seen. Gems and pieces of jewelry are scattered through the pile. Pieces of armor and weapons can also be seen. Other oddments are seen as well. There is a small iron chest. What appears to be potion vials can be seen. The jade statuette of the oni is also present.

Gneuman grasps Hoid's shoulder and gives him a gentle shake. "There you have it, my friend."
Kragen looks to the group. "The Dragon certainly wasn't a pauper. There are multiple magic items i am detecting. The Saddle there" pointing to it on top of the pile and looking at Chadwick anticipating his delight at a saddle for Freya. "has a magic aura. others are buried under the coins. i am not sure how many there are at this point. Do we want to spend the time to separate the loot between coins, gems, items and magic?"
Hoid follows the metal detector…I mean Kragen.
I head SE.
anyone who is in the map, please move us 200’ + about distance traveled from previous location to the elevator. Thx
Group token moved. Intend to keep going until the metal detector indicates we are on top of the key.

Based on clues visible in the map, I vote for climbing to the top of the mound.
Gneuman: "That's peculiar. The key just sitting there. Is this some sort of trap?"
Kragen approaches with caution and begins to climb the mound towards the Key, only stops if something seems amiss.
Once the Key is in his possession, in which he will hand back to Hoid. You see Kragen begin another incantation and gestures with muttering prayers.
After 10 minutes he gestures his hands in round motions around him.

“Gneuman, let’s wait for Kragen to finish with his chanting and gyrations before we celebrate.”
Kragen looks to the group. "The Dragon certainly wasn't a pauper. There are multiple magic items i am detecting. The Saddle there" pointing to it on top of the pile and looking at Chadwick anticipating his delight at a saddle for Freya. Looks to the group
“It would be wise, in my opinion, to separate the magic items.”
The hoard is sifted through and the following items are found:
Kragen asks Hoid.
"Does the key appear to be the right size for the small chest?"
"Shall we gather up the hoard or leave and continue on?", "Although all feels well, We still have other areas to clear."
“We can try the key on the chest. Nothing seems like it will be immediately useful, and we certainly can’t carry it all. We may as well leave it “
"We could have someone go and bring the Stonejaws to remove the hoard and focus only on this area while we clear the remaining areas?"
"I guess though, if it has not been looted to date, likely would remain long enough for us to clear the remaining mine area."
Is the owlbear taxidermy or more like the dragon’s binky?
It is owlbear taxidermy. Pretty good, too.
The key does appear to fit the iron chest.
Nothing magic is coming from or of the chest?
"We can open the chest or, with a long rest, i can memorize Find Traps to identify any risks with the chest?"
Concentrating, you faintly detect magic from the chest.
