Perception check reveals a parchment under a potted plant. It's a crude floor schematics with large, almost childish "LANA ROOMS" and "LORA ROOMS" written across different parts of it. On the other side there is to-do list consisting of number of maintenance activities. Apparently, the plan in drawn by half-educated cleaning personnel. It'll do. The lieutenants study is marked by J. initial.
Idunna rolls her eyes.
"Don't bother with the story, I don't buy it," she responds. "Fortunately for you, I don't care either. I know of what you speak - Jarvey is a boastful brat. I never pried, of course, so I don't know very much. I tell you what, he's supposed to meet me here before giving report to his Captain. You can stay and wait for now, and when he comes, I could spare some time and we will try to find out what he knows. My time is costly, however. 15 gold. What say you?"
"Hey, you're useful after all," Mirth couldn't resist the jab. "Let's go and be careful. I heard the evening patrols are starting."
You went with Mirth, following in his steps, literally. Somehow the tiefling moved so no tile made a sound. You were not quite as good, but as long as no one saw you, there was no risk of people going out to investigate the ruckus.
Stealth check required, do not forget your bonus, it's on the sheet.
You joined Idunna on the couch and tried to make small talk, but the lady of the night was hardly interested. She made simple yes and no responses and after some time asked for a bit of simence to think on the part she must play.
It did not take long for liuetenant to appear. He did not seem like much, dressed in simple, but quality clothes. No guard armor, naturally. You would think it was to bothersome to take off.
"Idunna, my dear!" he greeted the woman, who assumed an interested look as soon as he appeared. "I waited way too long before seeing you! Come here, give it to me!"
Idunna winked to you, emptied a glass of wine, so atered down it was barely rose, and got up to give him a kiss.
"If it isn't my fearless guard!" you could almost taste sarcasm in her voice, but JArved did not notice. "I was just talking about you! Here, meet my friend... Fiona. Fiona, Jarvey. Liuetent, I believe his title is. Dear, avert your eyes. She does not work here and I'm getting jealous."
Jarvey looked at you at you directly, a bit confused. Apparantly, Idunna did not introduce him to people often.
Appropriate social according to what line you choose next. DC 13. Waiter is available. Each glass of wine requires a successfull constitution saving throw, ot it decreases your Intellect by 1, raising charisma by the same amount. Note, that gulping down an entire bottle will seem suspicious. Each glass costs 1 gold piece. A waiter can be asked (stealth check, DC 8) to water wine down, so no check will be required and no buffs/debuffs. Failed stealth check raises Jarvey suspicion.
Violet takes two glasses of wine and heads over to Jarvey offering him one. "You must be Jarvey. I bothered Idunna if she doesn't know someone in the guard and pardon her, she told about that important Lieutnant that visits her sometimes. Well I talked her into introducing me to you." She raises her glass and toasts to Jarvey.
Eventually, your luck had to run out - the old tile gives up and crack under your feet. Mirth almost hisses in frustration as he hears loud steps behind the door you were passing. He ducks quickly behid it as it opens and remains unnoticed. You only have enough time to get up straight before a short fat man jums oup of the door.
"Care to explain yourself?" he shrieks. "I have asked repeatedly to keep it quite in here! I must concentrate! The city budget will not work itself out! Just wait till I have you escorted out!"
He draws breath to shout.
Appropriate social check to reason with him. Strenghth check against DC 17 to knock him out.
"I like you already," Jarvey empties his glass and gives you a sleziest look you have ever seen. "What can I help you ladies with?"
Idunna sits him on the couch and places herself on his lap.
"Relax, darling," she purrs."It's not about help, it's about conversation. I've been telling Fiona about the wonderful job you do to keep us safe."
Remember, that mentioning mage hunt will turn him suspicious. This is supposed to be a secrert.
"No need to shout. I'm just here to leave a custom made dagger for one of the soldiers here. You can go ask the secretary, she gave me the clearance to be back here."

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Violet sits opposite to the couple ordering another pair of glasses. "Yeah, she has been talking all about your deeds. But it's just a report. I'll bet it's much more exciting if you told the stories from your first hand experience. My friend is kind of interested in joining the guard and I'd like to know more about what you do." She starts drinking her wine.
nope, you are in separate locations doing your own things.
hey, did you roll from previous post or rolled anew?
Jarvey empties his glass and you notice he starts to look a bit shined.
"Oh, you know... It difficult to describe. It's not like in romance stories, chasing the thiefs and murderers and looking at crime scenes. It's there, of course, but mostly it's patrols, beggars, petty thieves, drunken brawls and paperwork," Jarvey started talking, but caught bored expression in Idunnas eyes. "Oh, of course those of us who are well-regarded are not wasted on patrols and such. My work, for example, is much more adventure-filled."
I shouldn't roll dice :)

"Yes, right, as if soldiers could afford a custom-made dagger!" the man spat out. "Gua..."
Before he could finish, Mirth stepped right behind him and put his dagger to the man throat.
"Hush..." he said softly. "And think very carefully what you're about to say next. "Ah-ah, don't turn around."
The mans eyes widened in fear. An office clerk, you didn't think he ever had a blade so uncomfortably close to his neck.
"My friend, you need to up your lying game," he said to you. "Now what should we do?"

Crassus is going to take the butt end of the dagger and hit the old man in the head. He's obviously going for nonlethal damage.
