"Oh my that sounds incredibly fascinating. How would one become such an important person? And what adventures do you take? Do you have to leave town, battle dragons and rescue princesses?" Violet gets two more glasses of wine. "Oh, this is one delicious wine. Getting me quite tipsy." She starts giggling.
The strike landed on clerks temple. His body became limp in tieflings hands as he lost consciousness, but he seemed to be breathing. Mirth settled him inside the office and closed the door.
"Nice hit. Let's hope he won't die, that'd be trouble," he spoke, as you advanced towards the Jarvey's office. No more complications arose before you reached the corridor you needed. However, just around the corner you had to stop, for there were voices near his door.
"Oh?" Jarvey raised his eyebrow. He was obviously drunker than he wanted you to believe. "Well, I don't. But let's stop drinking for the moment, or I'll want to kick some ass, and seeng that I'm the only guard here, there will be no one to stop me."
He chuckled at his own joke. One of the brothel doorman overheard him and snorted, but that went unnoticed. Meanwhile, Jarvey went down the braggery road, encouraged by Idunna.
"Becoming important was not a big deal, I was already important when I joined the guard. My father is a noble, you see, and, by extension, so am I. But it took a lot of training, a lot of successes to be trusted with what I'm trusted now."
"And it shows, dear," Idunna said, caressing his arm.
Violet giggles at his joke. "Well definite not us girls." She nips at her wine. "Oh my god, your nobility. Should have know by the way you handle yourself. Such grace and dignity." Continuing her giggling "Oh stop teasing us my Lord. I'm dying with curiosity what could it be?"
Voices turn out to belong to a pair of guards on patrol. They discuss current news and gossip, but nothing useful seems to come up.
Mirth looks at you and gestures vividly. Guards are slowly chatting and are not likely to resume their walk. You need to figure something out.
"Well," Jarvey hesitates. "But only if you promise to keep it to yourselves. I'm investigating a couple of mages. The last time the city has been under attack, they pulled off some wicked spells, and my boss thinks it's not safe to let them stay, so I've been looking into them. After all, those who know such wicked magic can't be clean otherwise."
"You're right, of course," Idunna interrupts. "But I think we've had enough conversation for one night. Let's go. Fiona, drop by any time, sweetie."
With these words, she takes him by the hand and leads him up the stairs.
If he can think of anything to throw. Something in the inventory, or you can roll for perception to see if there's anything lying around.
However, the hall makes Г-like turn and you're around the corner. Anything you throw will bring patrol to you, not away from you, so you'd better find a place to hide. Unless you can roll 20 on stealth ;)
They would, but we have time.

"Don't be shy. It will be our little secret." Violet gently strokes his chin.

Crassus looks at Mirth and gestures in a way that suggests the idea of jumping the guards and knocking them out.

Mirth starts gesturing back, but seeing as you can barely understand him, he switches to whisper.
"Not going to happen, mate," he says. "No way I'm risking exposure. We need a distraction, not a battering ram."
