"Fire I can do. Water not so much. but fire for sure." He quickly pulls out of the pack at his side some torches and lays them down in a campfire arrangement. "And voila." I cast create bonfire on the torches.

As the others begin to take stock of what they salvaged and dry off, if only a little, the Captain goes back to the cliff face, hoping to orient the team by first finding where exactly they are.
Korbiña nods and drops her backpack to the ground again. 'Well, I guess any wood we can find now is drenched..."
She looks around at the wet landscape...
"Anyway... I'm Korbiña." She looks for a treestump, stone or fallen tree to sit down and leans her staff against a rock "I don't believe I got all your names..."
She holds her hands and feet twards the fire and takes off her coat, hanging it on her staff to drip and dry off a bit...
Urgency abated, Quartz relaxes back into his natural form. Standing by the fire, he surveys the woods, cliff and the river beyond, (presumably) at his back. He stares into the woods for a long time, silently. "It beckons." He says calmly, a sense of resentment in his words. "The forest calls. Something old. Something — unnatural. The water, or whatever moved it, was called to these woods," he reaches out a hand to the treeline. "The is not easily ignored, it compels. Others will come. Perhaps, they already have."
The leaves beyond rustle, the routine scurry of harmless woodland creatures, or Something more sinister? Time will tell. For now the firbolg watches and waits.
After heating some water frm her waterskin and adding some herbs to it, Korbiña turns around looking into the forest as she slowly sips at her tea "Is that the only route onward?"
She looks around for other possible routes that might lead around the creepy forest...
Hi, How are you? I was wondering if you guys would be perhaps interested in letting me join your group. I have 3+ years of TTRPG experience under my belt. (Also what level does my character have to be?) Also I live in a different timezone so that may complicate things, but still I am very eager to join. Also I just got this account, because my old one wasn't working.

The cliff is discernible, if only slightly, through the cold mist. It stretches out to either side, a line that easily separates the living and the dead, black waters churning beyond it. The woods sitting before you, however, seem to loom over the camp. You couldn't see them before breaching the cliffside. Now they appear ever-present. Strange. You can hear the Captain mumbling behind you, no doubt in a sour mood herself, surveying the flooded landscape.

"Unfortunately, it is," she replies. "The ship was on course to take us South, past where we are now. This is the western edge of the Valley, the farthest point from it's center. If we'd remained afloat, the river would've wrapped around a large bluff on the southwest end and taken us inward north, through a deep-water canyon. There, we would've found an impromptu dock that could've allowed us better access to our meeting place. If the guide is as well payed as before, he'll be there."
"As it is,"she points directly at the center of the treeline,"we'll have to traverse those woods to make our deadline."
"Deadline. Poor choice of words, captian." the firbolg replies, his serious tone and dower expression convey the weight of his meaning. He reflects for a moment, then softens "well, we'd better rest up now, no telling when we'll have another chance like this." He says as he finds a spot by tbe fire with the others.
<not calling for a mechanical rest, just pumping the breaks on the edgelord vibes.>
"If there's a deadline, we better make the rest quick, but I agree... a least a bit is necessary..." she sips more of her tea and chews on a small piece of jerkey from her backpack...
She turns to the giant "your name is Quartz, right?"
Then to the captain "yoh, captain! What's your name?"
<Now, I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on this; should we stick with this thread, or should I start a private one without the Recruiting tag? Everyone who's requested to join, I'm fine with bringing them along to join the party. My concern is being overwhelmed, with a party of five or six becoming a group of ten to twelve.>

I'd be game ^^ we're all different time zones here (I'm in Germany) we are playing on level 2, and Lambastard_13 is GM.

But the Captain doesn't answer. Korbiña turns to the cliff...
...to find a piece of it missing, broken, collapsed. No sound, no warning. Doubtful she even felt it give beneath her. The Captain is gone.
<okay, now that everything's been cleaned up, we can get started!>

I like the campaign and how it's going. I think it'd be a good idea to start a private thread and continue there.

Yup. I also think it would be good to continue with a private thread.
