Frustrated, Ospos alters his plan, "Look, I can cast invisibility on Nodrus and magically bolster him and he can go take a good look around that corner. He can confirm the dragon is there, and if it is in any position to attack us. If the dragon is not there anymore, or a threat to us, we can continue with my previous plan. Bram's illusion can help distract the kobolds so Nodrus has a better chance to get in an advantageous position to lead off our attack.
That's the best we can do. If there is an honest to god dragon, we leave this mine. Otherwise, I seriously doubt turning back now and leaving that group of kobolds to our backs is a good choice. Either we fight them, or we leave this mine because we can't explore further with those kobolds there. I think those are our choices."
"I aint the biggest fan of magic, but if it's the only thing that'll work, i'm up for it". Nodrus looks around as the group begins to plan, still a little bit groggy from his lack of sleep, but determination slowly overcame the tiredness.
"I aint the biggest fan of magic, but if it's the only thing that'll work, i'm up for it". Nodrus looks around as the group begins to plan, still a little bit groggy from his lack of sleep, but determination slowly overcame the tiredness.
Ospos plays a quick rhythm, matching Nodrus's heart beat (gain 1d6 bardic inspiration die). Then Ospos puts his hand on Nodrus, mutters a tune and draws a symbol with his hand and Nodrus becomes invisible.
"Now do your best to be silent when you move. Go take a good look at what is in that room, then come back and tell us. After that, you can go in and strike at the most opportune target, and we'll follow with our own attacks. Or if there's a dragon, we leave."
Nodrus looks at his hands as they slowly fade into invisibility. Clutching his axe close to him as to not have it scrape against any walls. Nodrus attempts to sneak in and gather information, stepping carefully despite being invisible.
Nodrus: Your muscled form vanishes before you, and you begin slowly moving into the room. One armored kobold stands guard, spear gripped tightly in its scaly claws. The other warrior is a little farther in, turned around and bickering with the sorcerer, who seems to be in charge. The other kobolds stand between them, alternately looking between the argument and the entrance. None of them notice you as you pass by, it's almost a dreamlike scenario in your tired mind. You see the winged kobolds to the right side of the room, near a pile of boulders. One has his ear oddly pressed against the stone floor, seemingly listening for something. Beyond them, you see that Frank and Liafial were indeed correct. Your body tenses as you look upon a large red dragon. That instinct only lasts for a moment though. As you gaze upon the monster, one thing seems odd: it's missing it's back leg. Flesh and bone are exposed in what you now see is a grievous wound; the leg must have been ripped off. Though instead of being rotten, the muscle looks dried out. Inspecting further, you see jewelry and adornments placed on the emaciated form of the dragon, it's ribs poking out from underneath decorative gold piercings and trinkets, its eye sockets filled with rubies the size of your fists. The creature is dead.
"Oh really?! You can through your voice? That would be a great trick to be able to do. At the moment I've only mastered silent illusions. Wow, if I could add sound....my shows would be, exquisite!"
Coming back to the present, from his daydream of a possible future Bram adds,
"Yes, if you could add appropriate taunts and jeers at the kobolds, to get them to chase the illusion, we could hopefully try to split our enemies numbers. That might hopefully give us an advantage."
Clermar switches from his bow to his sword again. He wrings his hands around the hilt and crouches slightly, ready to run into battle at the first sound of battle.
Nodrus continues to walk around the edges, keeping as far from any of the kobolds near the sides as possible, trying to make his way towards the Sorcerer, hopefully within melee range if possible to sneak further in.
Nodrus: Circling past the kobolds and mummified dragon, you manage to stalk up right behind the sorcerer, ascending up the rocky platform that he's on. You're close enough to strike, the scaly humanoid still more concerned with trying to reign in his subordinate.
(If you attack you'll have advantage because it's a surprise. It would also start initiative, and you'd get to take another turn)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Looking down at his hands clutching his greataxe, which are completely invisible, he then looks back up and towards the sorcerer. Nodrus thinks to himself, as to not make any noise with whispering, "Seems this lil' one is the ring leader, takin' him out will be worth it". Nodrus braces himself by taking a careful step backwards, as he pumps himself up, gathering strength before swinging his large greataxe at the sorcerer, similar to a baseball swing.
Bonus Action: Enter Rage, (1/3 left)
Action: Greataxe Attack
Roll to hit, (unsure if attacking from behind whilst invisible grant advantage, if it doesnt, ill make this a reckless attack): 18
Nodrus: As your axe swings through the air, the invisibility drops in a shimmer of illusory magic. You can see the eyes of several kobolds bulge as you apparate behind the sorcerer, who turns just as your axe collides with his form. Much of the strike catches the robes billowing around his frail body but you do feel the blade connect, cutting a gash into his torso.
INITIATIVE START
The sorcerer cries out in pain, and bears his staff, taking a few careful steps back. A few words are muttered in draconic before he sprints off, moving unnaturally fast down the platform and to the left side of the room. The warrior he had been arguing with charges towards you, lunging forward with his spear, while two of the other kobolds let loose projectiles from their slings. The other two kobolds rush towards the door at the command of the warrior, ready to fend off the rest of the party.
Everyone still in the tunnel hears a sudden outburst of noise and snarls from the room. Combat seems to have broken out inside.
(we can say you guys were right around the corner in the tunnel, so it's 30 ft to the entrance from where y'all are. map will be posted asap. Feel free to take your actions before that though. Basically warrior and 2 kobolds near the entrance, warrior and 2 kobolds surrounding Nodrus like 60-70 feet in the middle of the room, Sorcerer way off to the left 100+ feet from the entrance, and the winged kobolds are to the right about 50 ft from the entrance)
Ospos will wait to be the second to round the corner and will cast Faerie Fire trying to catch as many kobolds as possible in the 20 ft cube, without including Nodrus.
Nodrus checks his arms again, which are now fully visible, he takes a couple of steps back dodging a lunge from one of the kobold warriors and ducking underneath a sharp stone flung from a Kobold's sling beneath him. Whilst adjusting his position as the invisibility ended, one of the Kobolds managed to land a hit with a sharp stone to Nodrus, however he shook it off whilst within his rage, only taking 3 Damage. Looking down towards the group of Kobolds, Nodrus lets out a rage filled shout as he scans the area, prepared for the next attack from one of the Kobolds.
(I'm pretty sure this should work in one turn, Hone the Blade doesnt use up any actions and Nomadic Anchor has a range of 120 ft so im hoping the magician kobold is in range of that. If he's not, i will figure out something else and probably just attack fulltime.)
As the cannonade of noises erupts from the cavern, Nean immediatly flips around. Reminding himself to take every possible precaution, he stops for a second and, with a stern look on his face, channels the flow of his psychic powers into the soul knives (Hone the Blade - 2 Psi Points).
He then darts after Ospos and Clermar, but once again pauses instead of fighting and splits one part of the psionic energy pulsing through his mind and directs it close to the wizardy looking kobold to manifest in the plane (Nomadic Anchor - 1 Psi Point). Realizing hes not yet done, Nean improvisates a strike with his left blade towards the armored kobold.
Dril jumped at the sound of the commotion. Upon watching his companions take action, he runs headlong toward fray. Cursing in Gnomish and within feet of the entrance, an exaggerated flourish of the hands begins the launch of three glowing missiles out of his hands, swirling and whistling, each striking the same armored kobold whom guarded the entrance.
"An illusion could cause a distraction, but maybe Liafial is right. We could take some time to explore what else is here."
Frustrated, Ospos alters his plan, "Look, I can cast invisibility on Nodrus and magically bolster him and he can go take a good look around that corner. Dril winks back at the facsimile and gives an impressed nod to Bram.
"Perhaps a a little information wouldn't hurt. I can throw my voice too to help with the distraction should we strike."
