Nesyax wanders around a bit, comparing locations to what she'd already sketched on the map. Once she's satisfied, she returns with the others to the headquarters. Inside, she accepts Ren's offer for lunch. "Sure, I'll join everyone for lunch. But then what are we going to do? Should we rest so we can be ready tonight?"
Ren looks to each of the party as they make their way inside. As the lizardfolk listens to what the party has to say, Daryos sneaks a glance at the robe Ren was examining. He can see that the robe is identical to the one he is wearing and has the simple of the overflowing chalice on the front. Examining the crate you are pretty sure it is one from the basement.
"So the bone collectors minions are sneaking into the city and stealing bones for the collector... but the collector is somewhere outside of the city walls? Sounds like a problem." The lizardfolk says glancing between Kitaer and Vesna. He then moves to begin making lunch. He then looks back to Vesna and smiles a toothy grin. "Sure you can help, there are some rations in the crate over there if you don't mind..." Ren says with a nod as he motions towards some nearby crates. He piles up some of the scrap wood and makes a small campfire in the middle of the stone floor not far from the alter. Smoke from the ever-burning incense still coats the floor and before long, there is a small cooking fire in the center of the room. Taking the rations from Vesna, he pulls some of the ingredients out and begins making a stew of sorts in a pot over the fire.
After preparing the meal and serving it in simple wooden bowls to the team, Ren looks to Nesyax and asks to see her map of the city. "Can you show me where you think the creatures are sneaking into the city?" He asks while those that wish to eat the stew enjoy their meal. He would examine the map and smile as his eyes comb over her creation. "Very nice work... " He says before the smile on his face fades. "Wait... you want to go out tonight? after dark? Are you sure?" he asks with a look of concern.
While this discussion is taking place, Stasyn sneaks outside and nudges Hank. The smell outside once again assaults his nostrils. The incense inside is a nice relief from the constant stink outside, and leaving the sweet smelling incense makes the stench seem that much worse. Although the Verdan was accustomed to the smell of rot that surrounded the quarantine zone... being close to Hank smells even worse. When he nudges the guard, he notices that it feels like a normal person... and not hard like a construct would be. They do not move however and stand perfectly still. The only movement from Hank is to slightly shift his weight a little on his feet or to adjust his grip on his mace. When asked about eating or his sleeping arrangements, he does not respond.
"We've yet to hear a good reason NOT to go out after dark," Kitaer responds between spoonfuls of stew being shoveled into his mouth. "Besides a vague prohibition and people being afraid. Guards certainly don't seem to be patrolling the streets. We did see some of those masked doctors but they were going somewhere, not patrolling... If the only things out in the dark are the things we want to hunt anyway it seems win win..."
Nesyax enjoys the lunch once it's prepared. "I agree. I think we have to see what's out there in the night to really understand what we're up against. Plus the Bone Collector's minions only seem to come at night."
The lizardfolk sighs nervously. "OK... but be carful. I don't want to find you all dead in the streets in the morning." Ren replies worriedly. "I suppose you all better rest up then. have you thought about a name for the franchise? If you are going to be spending the next few hours here with me, you can help me to decide how the headquarters should be laid out, unless you are hoping to move out of the quarantine zone. "
"Short term I'm assuming we're here for a bit?" Kitaer replies idly. "Long term we would definitely want out, specially if it continues being a quarantine zone..."
Stasyn heads back inside and waits till Ren goes to his office or somewhere else. He whispers to his companions "I believe our guards out-front are undead. The smell of rot is even stronger when I was nudging Hank. That would explain why they don't eat with us and have no place to sleep as they do not need it. I wonder is Ren a necromancer?"
"Hmm. I suppose undead might not expect as much salary," Nesyax says. "That'd be kind of useful though if Ren really is a necromancer."
Whenever Ren is back, she asks, "What sort of help do you need? You're not going to be moving walls are you? Might be nice though if everyone had a room at least."
"D-dead?" Vesna squeals and almost jumps up at this new information. "Yikes! Eh..." and she falls quiet because how do you really take this information... that someone dead appears to be guarding you. Very conflicted with her feelings, the cleric just finishes her lunch in silence.
When Ren comes back, she's already finished with eating and nods in agreement with Nesyax. "I know that we were talking about a name... and we've been mentioning to everybody we are coming from Waterdeep. How about we just call this franchise Waterdeep Inc or something to that effect instead? At least people won't be thinking we are crazy anymore..."

"I was wondering but... Well, do we care if they are undead? So long as they protect this place?" Kitaer asks, scratching his head. "I mean they're not complaining so..."
"We could just ask him," he adds also when the necromancer question comes up.
When Vesna brings up the naming question again Kitaer thinks about it a bit. "Not sure the people around here even know what Waterdeep is. Still, wouldn't mind it being in the name a bit. And boy we really got thrown into the fire here, eh? New world AND new plague and all. What about DeepEnd Inc?" Truthfully Kitaer doesn't know why they need a name but he's not opposed to it.
"Well I didn't know if you wanted to draw out a floor plan. If we get some lumber or other building materials we could begin making some individual bedrooms. We could also try to build some other useful rooms like workshops or maybe... a kitchen." he replies to Nesyax with a grin as he points to the fire burning in the middle of the floor. He then turns to lok at Vesna and nods. "Sounds good to me, but I'll leave it up to all of you to decide the franchise name and a slogan. All I ask is that it is easy to spell."
"I find it odd that Ren never mentioned it at all. As for the name I am fine with whatever all of you decide" once Ren comes back Stasyn asks "I noticed our intern guards are undead. Ren are you a necromancer?"
Daryos finds a seat and eats the meal offered by the majordomo. As Stasyn mentions Ren could be a necromancer he nods calmly. "Yes I had begun to suspect as much." The young white-haired noble then ponders over a suitable name for the franchise. "I don't expect us to stay here long enough for any extensive refurnishings." He says with a small smile to the majordomo.
"Yea, if it's going to cost much it's not worth it,'" Nesyax says in agreement. "But if we can get lumber at little cost, rooms for everyone and a kitchen, would be good." She glances about, seeming to examine the place. "How much room would a kitchen need? And an oven? That needs a smokestack or something?" She looks through her things and finds a piece of paper. In a few moments she has a simple sketch of the former church. She grabs a pencil with a slightly different shade and draws in some additional lines. She shows it to Ren. "Maybe something like this? The two existing rooms, and three new rooms on the left side could be bedrooms. Kitchen on the right side there. Maybe an extra square room there for... whatever. Meeting room for... meetings? The central area can be a general room. Maybe put a dining table there. I don't suppose that altar thing moves, does it?"
"What sort of workshop were you thinking of?" she asks Ren. "As for names. I suppose DeepEnd Inc. isn't bad. Going with the Waterdeep idea, how about Waterdeep Companions? Hmm, 'companions' doesn't sound right. Maybe something stronger sounding... Waterdeep Syndicate? Or Waterdeep Blades, Inc. maybe?"
Ren listens to Nesyax's plan about the layout of the HQ. He nods along and looks from her to Daryos and then to the group. "Well as far as the cost goes, I think it would be essentially free since I am pretty sure we would have to just scavenge from the surrounding buildings." He says as he begins looking around the room. "I don't imagine you would need a whole lot of space for a kitchen. You could probably direct the smoke up towards the bell tower for ventilation." He then gestures up towards the ceiling above where the alter is located and you can watch as the smoke slowly drifts up that direction.
"Now... as for a workshop..." The lizardfolks eyes go wide. "I think this room is going to be important for us here. I think we need an area to craft weapons, armor, and potions.... I don't think magical items are going to be easy to come across around here in Etharis... so we will need to craft our own i'm afraid. I have experience with leatherworking and could make some fairly nice equipment from the hides of creatures if you can acquire them. It's going to be important that we salvage any useful components we can from the creatures we kill. perhaps some of the townsfolk you interact with can provide information on useful materials that can be collected from the beasts you may encounter." Ren says with a smile. "I also dabble in taxadermy, so if you want to just bring back entire monsters... I may be able to turn them into neat decorations or something! Maybe we could stuff the bone collector and stand him outside... make him wear an Aquisitions Inc shirt or something." he adds with a smile.
At the mention of the names he simply nods and looks to the others for their feedback. He doesn't seem like he plans on making that decision.
OOC: We can fast forward to nightfall if you are all done interacting at HQ.
"I like DeepEnd Inc... and Waterdeep Syndicate! Oh my, it is difficult to choose," Vesna mutters. "This floor plan looks very good, Nesyax! Maybe once we clear the basement we can do all the crafting in there? Should be spacious enough. And speaking of crafting, I wanted to check the alchemist supplies while we are waiting for sundown anyway, see if there is anything to understand about these vials we collected last night. And this reminds me, Ren, I did collect some spider venom from the giant spiders in the tavern." the cleric shivers visibly at the memory. "Hopefully, we can use it for something"
//not sure how to do the alchemist stuff, do you want me to write a post or how would be best to get familiar with some of the vials and other stuff?
Ren takes the venom and holds it in his hand. "Ah! nice work" he replies to Vesna with a toothy grin. Before he can inspect the venom, he hears the question asked by Stasyn and freezes. the smile on his face fades. "well... I have taken a few lives in my day... and I am no stranger to death... but I'm no necromancer." The lizardfolk says with a sigh. "Also... don't go saying that stuff too loudly. Necromancy is against the law around here. Could be bad for business." The lizardfolk then slowly pulls out a small black whistle hanging from inside his robe. The thin whistle appears to be crafted from black polished bone and is attached to a silver chain that us draped around Ren's neck. There is also an tiny silver Aquisitions Inc. logo inlayed into the top of the whistle. "As majordomo, I was given some useful items as well." He says as he gestures towards your gear you had been given by Omin back at Waterdeep. "This whistle allows be to raise and controll up to two corpses so long as i blow it once a day. Hank and Dean died the first night we were here. They went out looking for a way into the city... and in the morning I found them dead in the street. Took me a couple days to raise them both, and they have been standing guard ever since." He says with a frown. "They will do what I ask, and are capable of helping with manual labor... plus now I don't have to pay them I suppose." He then tucks the whistle back into his robe and looks to each of the party. "I didn't want to anything bad to happen to them. Keeping them close is the best shot we have at ever bringing them back from the dead, and in the meantime we get free labor. It's a good deal for everyone really. Plus, when they signed the contract and agreed to be interns, they did agree that their corpses were to belong to Aquisitioms Inc in the event they were killed." The lizardfolk shifts around uneasily. not because you think he is lying, but mainly because he isn't sure how the party is going to react to the news.
"Yes," Nesyax says, looking at Vesna. "We should use the basement for a workshops. Several workshops. That is a great idea."
She listens, quite interested, as Ren describes the whistle he has. "Acquisitions, Inc. seems to think of everything. But that whistle seems useful. Good to know what's up with those two. I'm sure we can all keep it quiet." She seems to shrug it off with little concern.
"Anyway, guess maybe we rest now, see about lumber tomorrow?" she asks, looking towards Ren. "Or are the renovations something you can handle. Don't suppose we're in too much of a hurry."
Daryos hadn't imagined staying in the quarantine zone long enough for any major refurnishings of the team's current base of operations but as Nesyax, Vesna and Ren starts to make plans he can't help but be drawn in with their enthusiasm, and there was nothing wrong with keeping the majordomo and his undead servants busy while the team were out monster hunting. "Gunna rest," Kitaer says after he's finished eating. "Since it seems like we'll be up all night." With that the minotaur finds himself some floor to sit on, wall to lean against and shuteye to take.
