"Fine" before I leave does my character know the strength of the dragonborn or do only I know, if only I know, 11 for perception, otherwise use that on the basilisk.
"Fine but go away" *The Red Dragonborn releases his hand and steps back* 'I feel like i have seen you before'
Slodik passes over ten gold pieces. "Not much, but it's what he's worth, am I right? Still, would've been fun to see him running around with one hand."
the man leans forwards whispering "on the tallest cliff there is a dragon. beware the minions and watch the skies. otherwise you will not survive"
"Thank you for the warning." He whispers back. Then he pretends he heard nothing, silently keeping an eye on the doors.

To the dragonborn "do you have any fee for your services or are you just being kind, because I can tell that you are quite strong, and you could make a lot off of helping inexperienced adventurers"
Turing to the other person "What message would that be?" he asks out of curiosity.
"Many years ago an old friend came to my...home. {perception check of 12 or higher to see if he is lying} and gave me a letter with the instructions that sometime in the future group of people would come to this town to save everyone and it is my duty to join them and do what I must to save them. However the letter said something else but it was torn at the bottom. My old friend told me that I must visit the hermit on the hill outside of this town to get the rest of the letter."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: Quick question... still tweaking my character's build a little bit. How do you use passive perception/investigation? Trying to decide whether my character should have the Observant feat or if I would be better off with something like Alert or Shield Master. Doing my best to catch up here...)
A massive woman is also at the black market, well armed but lightly armored, clothed with thick animal skins and furs. She is clearly a descendant of the giants, one of the mountain-born people known as the Goliaths.
She is mostly here looking for information. Ever since she was rescued from one as a child, it has been her life's goal to hunt down hags and other dark spellcasters. She doesn't trust magic much, but she understands that sometimes one must fight fire with fire, hence the powerful magic items she carries. The conversation that the dragonborn is having catches her attention, though.
"Save this town from what, exactly?" she asks, interjecting herself into the conversation.
A tall pale human (Niko) walks in and up to the dragonborn. "What do you have for sale?"

Is everybody just gonna ignore this?
Billy looks around to see if there others are nearby if they had decided to check out the black market like they did.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
