With that Jordbugg and Maggwyn are able to guide the party through the hazy mist. Ahead is a cratered street..
The blasted street is filled with small craters, tiny crystals glow with prismatic light within each.
Here..was a mother load of crystal and trouble. Six shambling husk covered in crystal with purple eyes. As they collect the rocks into the center. The air is filled with a sorta.. static almost like the smell before a thunderstorm.
Fifth teen Delrium Chips. Each could sell for 5 gold (10 gold to the right connections but unlikely for most.)
Than... four larger chunks.. fragments. (Worth 50 gold but 100 to the right connects though unlikely. But as spell components they do count as 100 gold.)
This was a decent first find! Only problem was all six husk surrounding it and worshiping the rocks. Was it worship? As they moan and surrounded the rocks themselves.
OOC Reminder of the loot around as after Fazil's con save the battle is over!
"Thank you," Thuribula gasps out to Dabbert, as he disengages from the front and moves back with her for added protection. Her ears still ringing and black spots swimming before her eyes, his voice sounds muffled to her, and it takes a moment for her to wrap her head around the questions he's asking. But before she can muster an answer, the evidence happens before their eyes as Fazil slings a firebolt, and both he and Jord suffer the collateral damage of the exploding haze husks.
"Yes,"she gasps, finally, in belated and now redundant answer to Dabbert's question, grieved inside at the wounds inflicted on Jord and Fazil by the group's haphazard battle strategy. "They're all destroyed... thank the Flame."She sees Fazil collapse to the ground, and, with a mighty effort stowing her hammer and shield, she walks as if through deep water, under the weight of wounds and heavy armor, to the fallen mage. Crouching down, she reaches out her hands and lays both of them on him, and a radiant glow of light shimmers from between her palms. Fazil feels his wounds close... and Thuribula leans back, crossing her arms over her chest and bowing her head as she whispers a prayer, and the same glow of light washes over her own body. The relief of soothed aches and pains washes over her, immediately evident on her face, and she reaches down, grasps Fazil's hand, and pulls him up with her as she stands. "Easy now. How are you feeling?"
(OOC: I was down to 3 HP, we're almost even!) Lay on Hands to restore 5 HP to Fazil and 5 HP to herself.
Jordbudd badly hurt looks around the area and reaches to all fours sniffing the air for Delirium and prey.. Food too. Though hurt, he seemed to smell something.. Prey? Trouble? Whatever it was he had scurried off into Drakkenheim. Would they see him again? Maybe, maybe not the city had many explainable things it would seem.
OOC Feel free to add Jord's loot (it was once Delirium Fragment I think) into the list I mentioned above so no ones punished some loot for a player having to leave.
(So just add one extra fragment basically)
Collecting all of this will take them 10-30 minutes depending on how fast they go. Luckily they all have either heavy armor or working gloves to help and since they all prepared the with pickaxe supplies the time is halved if they work together.

"Thanks. Better than ever. I owe you a favor... Within reasons of course." Fazil cast Prestidigitation on everyone to clean up anything on their person. "We should collect the Delerium as soon as possible, then get out of here quick."
As this is done a few figures walk by a few minutes in. They chuckle a bit as the throw some used scrolls to the ground. Invisibility perhaps? It was hard to say but it was a man in splint mail like Thuribula. Another was an elven man with a stoic look and a grimoire on his side and the third was a rugged man with a longbow.
"Well well, thanks for taking those pesky husk out their explosions sure are nasty! So as a reward.. we don't kill ya we just take the Delrium."
"It will be put to good use, as I demonstrate to the academy my skills."
The elf raises a hand ready to cast a spell.
The man in splint pulls a greatsword over his shoulder with a sneer.
"Let's be honest, you're hurt.. and we aren't so.. Just be smart and hand it over."
OOC For those who don't own the book they won't be able to add the items so I can add it on you're sheet for you just let me know which sheets I'm adding too.
Thuribula watches the streaks of grime and delerium-laced rotted flesh disappear from her armor and the dust and blood spatters shake out of her Flamekeeper's robes, leaving them white and pristine. She smiles. "Thank you, Fazil. I'm glad we'll walk back into town looking presentable."She chuckles, and then turns to the task at hand with a sigh. Looking at the glowing purple crystals, distaste almost a flavor, metallic, a bit, in her mouth. These rocks are a curse. But the Silver Order knows how to destroy them. She has not forgotten her promise to Ophelia. As much as I want nothing to do with the stuff, I'll bring them back a fragment to destroy.
"All right. Let's get to work and then we can get back to town."The Flamekeeper doesn't have any tools or pickaxes, so she uses her warhammer to help dislodge the hateful crystals. Lifting it carefully with her gloves, she takes one delerium fragment for herself, placing it carefully in her backpack. She lets the others have their pick of everything that remains. As they work, she nods to Dabbert. "You came back just in the nick of time... what did those soldiers have to say? Is something going on?"
Thuribula stands up straight to watch the approaching trio, her hammer still in her hand. With her other hand, she crosses herself in a holy gesture, and murmuring a prayer for Guidance. Then she faces the men. "Brigandry, my good fellows? As I hold the Light... I am happy to give you my share of this foul stuff, but I ask you in the name of the Sacred Flame to stand in virtue, and not commit robbery on my companions here. Be a light in the darkness... you will fare better for it." Pulling the fragment back out of her backpack with her glove, she shows it to them, and then tosses it at the feet of the elf, casting Light on the fragment just as it leaves her hand, spilling to the ground with a bright radiant flash.
The elf considers it for a moment before shaking his head and preparing a spell. Fazil can tell it's a burning hands upgraded to a second level and he knows that can hurt.
"In Drakkenheim it isn't brigandry I'm afraid but merely adventuring. You should know being an adventurer yourself. Hand over 3 fragments and I'll think about it."
They eye her as she cast guidance before speaking the elf however narrows his eyes and seems to understand exactly what's going on. This causes him to be more on guard rather than disarmed.
The man with the longbow aims at the wounded Fazil
"Even if you'll win.. There is no guarantee you'll all live right? Might as well just take this as a lesson of Drakkenheim and make it back alive yes?"
Thuribula shakes her head. "I may be adventuring, but I am a Flamekeeper, and I will not steal. Nor will I attack an innocent. I have given you my share, the rest I cannot speak for. But if you try to harm my companions, I will defend them." She buckles on her shield, her hammer at the ready, and moves to interpose herself between the aimed longbow and Fazil.
They hear a booming laugh, a familiar one at that perhaps to Dabbert more than the others and probably not a pleasant reminder.
"You would fight you're fellow man? And while they are wounded no less! Disgraceful! Shameful even! This older man proves his flame by fighting husk and you wait.. Like vultures while this woman lays her claim to treasure for her comrades? Ahh, were you in Caspia you'd be mocked for all time for such an act!"
"Here I thought paladins were supposed to be pushy and unreasonable, suppose they have to deal with pushy people as well. Still.. if you wish to act like vultures you can be hunted like them as well."
"Show the academy his skills? I thought elves were wise, stealing rocks from wounded adventurers is hardly a skill. Perhaps if one were making an application for the Queen's Men but the mages care not for the spineless nor the talentless."
"To Rob such an adorable tiefling woman I don't know about the rest of you but for me that's more than enough to get involved."
"We aren't here just because some of them are cute.. Don't be weird Flint or she'll think you're another ruffian just causing problems."
Flint looked to Charlotte with a light chuckle.
"Damn it! F***! S***! Mother ****er they found it before us! Damn we lost, the only thing that's pissing me off more is these others guys not realizing they lost the prize fair and God damn square!"
This foul mouthed looking barbarian came to the forefront as the other 3 would be highwaymen look to this new rather large group. The elf had spoken first
"If you work with us, we can split the reward they are hurt after all it wouldn't be hard. Besides.. they are new we have been adventuring longer the rookies should have to learn harder lessons after all."
Auron had stood to the forefront now with a hardy laugh looking to Dabbert and Thuribula. Than back to the men Thuribula called brigands.
"The only rookies I see are all of you! They have shown a fighting spirit! I wouldn't be surprised to learnt hey were all from Caspia! Haha! Now begone unless we wish to fight two parties at once?"
The elf clicked his tongue as he looked to his archer friend and the warrior. They all lowered their weapons and began to leave in frustration.
Auron than looked walked to Dabbert and Thuribula.
Well found! I am a bit jealous I will not lie but still to the victor should go the spoils I believe."
"We'll beat you to the next one though so don't get too cocky. Beginner's luck is all."
"You're welcome." Dabbert said softly, lowering his shield and looking around. "I uh...sorry. I wasn't gone that long I uh...thought that maybe you'd be okay without me. Well uh...you were. But you know what I mean."
He watches as Thuribula helps out Fazil, then watches the stinking dragonborn thing as it disappears back into Drakkenheim.
"What happened? I wasn't gone that long!" He reiterates as his armor and clothing gets magically cleaned by Fazil. "Oh, that's uh...quite a trick."
When Thuribula asks what they had to say, he pauses, taking a moment to consider how to answer. It's clear on his face he's struggling with it.
"My old company commander...he's alive. It was just a surprise. And gave me a lot to think about."
He was just about to replace his weapons on his back when the newcomers show up. He curses under his breath, still feeling rather fresh compared to his companions, and brings his shield back up. He's about to make some comment about stacking their bodies in the street, then curses when he hears Auron's laugh.
"I would have been okay with dying." He mutters. He listens to their introductions, hears what's happening, and looks down at the ground. He can't help but smile as the would-be brigands leave.
"I will admit that I am glad to see you." Dabbert says to Auron. "I'm hale. But uh...my companions seem to have had a bit of a hard run."
Auron looks to Dabbert and pats him on the back with a hearty laugh.
"Didn't think you'd be glad to see me! Hahaha! I see, you do look ready to fight! And fight you would have! It seems I was wrong about that old ember of a flame! Like my friend Rex has stated.. I do plan on beating you next time we compete. Fair and square that is, it won't do attacking you from the shadows after you're already hurt and all."
Charlotte places her bow on her back and smiles
Aww, Auron's made a friend.
Aurora looks over flipping her hair to her side.
"That's what you call it?"
"How.. strange, still we should be going."
Flint than chimes in
"Oh come on not yet, hey Mr soldier.. And lovely friends included. I think you should all take a breather. And allow us to stand watch in case anything comes.
"That is an excellent idea Flint! If a monster took out my newly made rival while his friends lay weak that would be most disappointing! Ser soldier! You must allow us to do this I implore you in the Caspian name of Blazestar! Though we came to work for Ulrick himself.. we are still Caspian at heart!"
Thuribula has braced herself, ready to fall in defense of her companions, feeling the twinge of her partially healed wounds and copious bruises, when a Caspian rescue force arrives...it takes her a moment, gaping, to recognize them. They'd met this very party in the Bark and Buzzard. As they trade back salty comments with the would-be brigands, and then with Dabbert, it dawns on her. Relieved, she stands straighter, and lowers her hammer.
"Auron," she says, with relief. "Flame reward you... to stand in the defense of the weak against evil men is no small act of virtue." She smiles at Charlotte, remembering their brief conversation. "Charlotte. I'm glad to see all of you... I was prepared to offer my share to the brigands,"and she points to the delerium fragment she had cast at the elf's feet, still glowing with Light. Something about the radiant illumination suffusing the unholy plague stirs wrong in her, and even as she points it out, she lets the spell fade, leaving nothing to the crystal but the octarine glow it originally had. "But, you may have it, in gratitude for your noble assistance."
Maggwyn was ready for the fight. These people taking advantage of who they thought were weak, well, they didn't know what they were about to face. But then more arrive and they look vaguely familiar... weren't these the ones her group had met when she was on her errand?
She listens to the conversation but puts away her share of one fragment and 5 chips figuring the odd amount can be dealt with however. She wasn't sure she was up for strangers to watch over them however, "Aren't we ready to head out of Drakkenheim? We got what we came for and all that."
Fazil stays quiet, keeping his eyes on the new people around them, as he tenses up as he waits for everyone and silently agrees with Maggwyn in leaving Drakkenheim as soon as possible.
At work but just wanted to make sure I understand correctly.
So Aaron offers them a shirt rest because their is still dangerous drakkenheim to trek and offers to guard them during.
Maggwyn and family certainly can urge the party to go but leaving drakkenheim can run the risk of encounters as they leave the haze filled ruins to emberwood.
And they are all messed up.
I'll respond when I get home but wanted everyone to understand and have a chance to tactically talk and consider aurons proposal.
