Gasp plodded down to the basement. He found a nice corner to settle into. So, gathering hay and a mat, he molded a little nest just for him. After settling in, he gave a sigh and looked at the single iron band of a shackle hanging on his wrist. A small ruby sparkled upon it. Don't let its shiny status appeal to you. You know what it is, Gasp. You know what it really is. Quite a few of these people gathering to form a party are ex-military. How will you fair when set up next to them, Gasp? You've never been one for hand-to-hand combat. You were never really meant for the battlefield, you know. Gasp nods ascent to this internal dialogue. Yet, here you are. Free in the world, but still a prisoner. A law-bearer whom has broken the law. A soldier whom isn't fighter. It's funny, you know. It's funny what good intentions get you. There comes another sigh from Gasp and, at last, he turns over in his nest. Sleep takes him.
With a jolt, Crispy woke the next morning. At least, it looked like morning. The sun had not risen yet, but dawn was soon approaching. The nightmare still fresh in her mind, she got out of bed and washed her mouth and face. She looked at herself in the mirror, analyzing her tired features. Today was the first day of the job, and she wanted to be ready mentally and physically. She reached into her backpack, took out a small box, opened it, and swallowed one of the pills inside. Her sleepiness faded, and her focus returned. She thanked The Academy for such a wonderful gift.
Just like she did every morning, she made some room, went down on the floor, and did as many push-ups as she could. She then flipped around and did as many sit-ups as she could, and repeated this process for a while before she opened the door and went outside. Since dawn would be here shortly, no one was really out and about. She went around the back and found some logs that looked heavy and proceeded to carry them and lift then in a manner that one would who was trying to maintain a certain level of strength. She tried to be as quiet as she could, as to not wake anyone. After she did that for a while, with her lean muscles burning and her face damp with sweat, she went back upstairs. She bathed, the warm water felt good, and as she dressed she always took note of all the pockmarks, bruises, and scars that dotted her body. She tried to not think about them by admiring her physique for a moment, twisting and turning and proud of the fruits of a lifetime of exercise.
She went downstairs and waited for the bar to open so she could buy something to eat, after her morning routine she was always ravenously hungry.
As Crispy comes down, it turns out she's not the only one awake. Sitting at the bar was the copper dragonkin, he doesn't regard her as he waits at the end of the bar. The lad comes from the backroom of the bar, holding a platter of fresh bread and some jerky.
"Here you go, shall I put it on your tab then?" The wood elf looks over to you as you make your way to the bar, "Want some breakfast?", He asks you.
The dragonkin rises from the table taking the platter, "Yes please, and thank you for the meal." He nods to the boy as he makes his way back up to the stairs.
The boy glances behind, giving a shout to the backroom, "Another breakfast charge on the dragonkin, Marav!", he walks on down to you, "So? Hungry?"
((On lunch break at work currently so short post for the long rest))
Bennett, after everyone says their goodnight and goes off to their lodgings, waits for a few minutes and gets up. He pays the price needed for a room, he slowly makes his way upstairs and finds his room. He shuts the door and locks it behind him. He takes off his armor and sinks into the bed. It's the first time in weeks he has slept in a bed, "I could get used to this." He thinks. He soon falls fast asleep..
Belzin wakes as soon as the sun is up. He waits eagerly at the bar for his adventuring party. Ready to take on some Goblins and claim the treasures that await.
A sound rings in his mind. A sharp, quick chirp and suddenly he's awake. It was the same every morning. Just a good reminder that he's not really free. He's on the job. Constantly, endlessly on the job. He looks to the iron band on his wrist and sees the small ruby sparkle even in the dark. It was business as usual, though. So he got up, got ready, and headed back to the tavern area. He sees that others are already awake as well, So he joins Belzin and Crispy for breakfast.
Aurelia stretched all the knots out in her muscles when she woke, blinked the sleep out of her foggy, green eyes and picked through her pastel hair to remove anything that might've nestled inside it during the night.
"I hope you're sleeping better than me..." She murmured, sending her daily thoughts to her grandmother.
The triton found the nearest source of water, cupper her hands and splashed her face. Her pearly white skin immediately got a new shimmer, ready for yet another day on the surface. After climbing the stairs from the basement Aurelia finds Belzin and Crispy at the bar, overhearing the the conversation. She takes a seat, too.
Hatt wakes before sunrise, well-rested and not inclined to go back to sleep, so he takes out a few of Enna’s letters and re-reads them, smiling to himself. And here I am, about to go off adventuring along with half the army, seems like. She’ll laugh herself silly when she hears that. I wonder who might know of a forwarding address in Savasst?
After some time, he thinks he hears the bird per…, no, he hears Gasp leave and go up the stairs. He packs up and follows to the bar, gives a cheery greeting to the gathering group, and optimistically asks the young wood elf if there’s a breakfast menu.
Gasp turns his head, cocking it to one side and then the other as Hatt greats him and the others. He gives a few blinks, taking in the person, and then gives a wave.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Ah!" Crispy says to the woodelf, famished. "Yes, that would be amazing, thank you." She nods. As she waits for her food, she eyes the Dragonborn with slight curiosity, but nothing more. She gives a good morning smile nod to Screamin' McSpit and Bird Person.
When the food arrives, whatever it is, she eats like a starving teenager, but not in a messy manner.
As Aurelia and Hatt come down, she glances at them, smiles and says "Gooth Morningth!" while stuffing her mouth with bread.
She does a double take at Aurelia's skin, and has the urge to make a comment.
Hungry, Gasp mimics the Triton's " I would love to have some breakfast" for the Woodelf. Gasp happily pays whatever coin is needed. He then cocks his head and blinks as he watches Crispy just devour her food. "Gooth Morningth!" He says back to her.
Ashley pays her 5 gold and retires or the night. She sleeps soundly and will awake in the morning in time to rejoin her new adventuring group that she just met and instantly trusts.

Aurelia smiled at Crispy and nodded her own greeting. Seeing the human's hunger made her own more urgent, and she ordered enough fish jerky to keep her sustained, sliding the needed coins to cover the breakfast over the bar towards the server. After taking a bite off the jerky she turned towards the kenku who, if she remembered correctly, had introduced themselves as Gasp. Very clever, she must say.
"I will do my best to expand your vocabulary if you need it, my friend. Never hesitate to mimic me, should you feel the need to do so."
The triton then turned her attention towards Belzin, waiting eagerly to hear the details about the mine and what was expected of them.

Hatt shrugs and carries on eating. As the wood elf passes by, Hatt catches their attention. He pays the coppers for his meal, and asks Excuse me, would you happen to know how long it takes to get to Gnome’s Rock? On foot, that is. Small ones, he adds, pointing at his own.
