Elero watches, slightly uncomfortable for some reason, as Zoveldra makes it easily to the other side of the pit, while Erix' Badger finds nothing of interest, signaling it safe to cross. LANDMOP starts sloshing through with his crew of skeletons, pushing them along, trying to get to the other side quickly. At one point, he pushes against a skeleton that feels different to the others, and he looks at it. A rotting corpse lies in the mud, tinged brown from days in it, the bones are wet with slick. At that point Elero finally hears what's making him uncomfortable, the humming of hundreds, no thousands, of scarabs. They are suddenly all around LANDMOP and your minions in the pit. Initiative:
Group 1: Elero
Group 2: Scarab Swarms
Group 3: Erix, LANDMOP, Zoveldra
Elero is up, the Scarabs have LANDMOP and the minions surrounded in the pit.
Thoroughly freaked out by this, Elero panics. He races forward into range and casts Level 1 Thunderwave at the swarm, knowing it could hit LANDMOP and his skeletons, but figuring LANDMOP can handle it, and not being too worried about hurting things that are already dead. Everything in the blast zone must make a CON 15 save or suffer 10 thunder damage, plus an additional 7 for Elero's Arcane Firearm.
He'll then send the Protector Cannon into the muck to give 10 temp HP to LANDMOP and any skeletons who survived.
"Nuke the site from orbit," he mutters nonsensically. "It's the only way to be sure."
One group of Scarab's are blasted back by Elero. However, they quickly recover and surround him, clearly these beasts can move in the muck with ease. Other Scarabs go for your minions:

A wave of panic washes over Elero, originating from his companion, but he shrugs it off and focuses on the horror of the bugs swarming around him. He's seen what happened to the poor weasel, and wants none of that for himself. He tries to orient the blast in a way to avoid hitting his companions, but mainly wants all these creepy crawlies to just go away, so he hits the swarm with another Level 1 Thunderwave. They need a CON 15 save or they'll take 11 thunder damage plus an additional 3 for his Arcane Firearm.

With only two remaining, at half their numbers, the Scarabs fight on, trying to burrow into Zoveldra and the other Weasel:

OK, I can't see the dice rolls for that post so I'm going to use this opportunity to fix a mistake I've made. The Weasel definitely won't survive the Thunderwave, so both these rolls will be aimed at Zoveldra:

Weasel one is immediately completely eaten alive, it's a horrific sight; Miraculously, however, the other weasel and the badger survive.
They immediately start to bite the scarabs, after which the badger will burrow itself in the ground to protect itself.

Erix casts summon beast to conjure a land beast to fight the scarabs:
