As Hex's arrow pierces the beast in front of him, causing the shifting illusion to disappear, Auriel quickly tries to take advantage of the opening and swings at it.
Carl backpedals to approximately 20-25 feet away, and sees Hex focusing on a spell at the beast facing her. He glares at the beast and sends a spike of psychic energy its way, hoping to help her as she appears to be trying to trap the beast. A single drop of blood comes out of his nose as he scrunches up his eyes and wrinkles his forehead, sending the wave of energy there.
You drive a disorienting spike of psychic energy into the mind of one creature you can see within range. The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw (DC 13 Int Save) or take 6 psychic damage and subtract 1d4 from the next saving throw it makes before the end of your next turn.

Rather than try and risk a spell to hit something that shifts like that. He falls back to his frostbite spell. He gathers frost around the one that had been attacking Carl.
Action: frostbite spell, dc 14 con save or take 4 cold damage and have disadvantage on its next weapon attack (may be moot as it's an unarmed strike?)
Also asked question in ooc which may influence action next turn
Sylyra's moonbeam and Hex's entangling vines do almost nothing to slow the displacer beast as it seems to slink and slide through the terrain to pounce on Hex. The tiefling can only watch helplessly as two tentacles smash into her body, sending her sprawling unconscious onto the forest floor. As the beast leaps away to find its next target, Serelis slides to the ground, attempting to staunch the bloodflow.
Auriel's halberd crashes to the wrong side of the other beast's displacement, missing the creature as its tentacles slam into his body as well, but the creature at least seems shaken by Carlthuzad's magic even though Uragum's seems to have no effect. "Yah!" Pipyap shouts, appearing from invisibility above the beast and slamming his stinger into its back.
Round 3 Order: Players <===== Displacer Beasts
Placement: Auriel and Pipyap are engaged in melee combat with one displacer beast. All combatants are within movement range of one another.
Health: The displacer beast fighting Auriel is lightly wounded.
Hex is unconscious and dying (0 successes, 0 failures). Auriel is wounded.
Carl cries out in anguish, “Hex!” He turns with fury on the beast the attacked her, sending a bolt of eldritch energy at the creature, fearing their situation is growing steadily worse.

Sylyra's eyes widen and then narrow as Hex is overcome by one of the displacer beasts. Continuing to concentrate on his moonbeam, the elf rushes to the fallen tiefling and lays a hand on her, pouring a little healing magic into her prone form. "Get up," he whispers to her urgently.
Before Hex's eyes even begin to open, he waves his hand, and a cloud of forest floor detritus rises into the air in a tiny whirlwind. The mess arranges itself into the form of a hawk, which hovers above the battle scene like a sentinel.
Bonus: Spirit Totem: Hawk: use your reaction to grant an ally advantage on attack (only Sylyra). Advantage on Perception (everyone in the aura).
Sylyra will use his reaction this round to give Auriel advantage.
Uragum turned to move towards Hex and was ready to get a healing potion out when Sylyra called out with his magic. Uragum let go a quick smile. Druid magic. Not Uragums smile bit he had a deep appreciation for the natural magics and more so for the healing he couldn't create but had received often enough.
"I'll cover Hex, till he can pull back. Then focus fire one!" He calls out. With that said, he forms his shadow blade and moves a little closer. "Here kitty kitty!" He yells out in a taunting manner and then whips his shadow blade at it.
Move: move 15 to 20 feet towards Hex and the displacer. Want to be 15 away from the displacer.
Bonus action: cast shadow blade.
Action: Attack displacer by Hex with throwing shadow blade. Since it's dim light, gain advantage on attack so it should be a straight attack.

Reaction: arcane deflection or potentially stones endurance
Auriel watches in horror as Hex falls prey to the beast's attacks, but he can't linger on this for long as he is soon inflicted with his own fair share of pain. The paladin vaguely notices Sylyra healing Hex, and Uragum and Carl focusing their attacks on the beast that harmed her, so he tries to stand his ground meanwhile.
Taking a defensive stance, he calls upon the Lord of Justice for further protection, hoping to last a little longer and keep the displacer beast away from the others. A shimmering field briefly surrounds the eladrin in response.
Action:Dodge / Bonus:Shield of Faith on himself (AC is 19 while he keeps his concentration.)

Hex groans as she awakens, taking a moment to reorient herself and remember what just happened. She gives Sylyra's arm a squeeze to thank him before running as far as she can and taking a shot at the beast that knocked her down.
Carlthuzad's powerful blast of arcane energy seems to strike the displacer beast near Hex, but the beam passes through its form before it reappears a few feet to the side. It begins to bound away, but as Hex moves away, launching an arrow into its flank, it changes direction, charging back toward the archer. Along the way, a tentacle lashes out at Sylyra, slamming into the druid as he brings the totem spirit into existence. Uragum's shadow blade slices through the back of one of the beast's legs, and Hex rolls away from the next tentacle that flies out at her.
Pipyap's stinger sends poison coursing into the other beast as its tentacles fail to break Auriel's defensive stance. The beast roars, its displacement continuing to be disrupted by the imp.

Auriel is wounded. Hex is lightly wounded. Sylyra is lightly wounded.
OOC: It resets on the displacer beast's turn. Pipyap is acting after the displacer beasts each round, so the displacer beast that he attacked hasn't had its turn to reset that effect yet.
Hex grins as she manages to land a shot of the beast but it immediately drops as it begins to charge her. "Urgh, shouldn't have done that..." she mutters to herself. Despite everything in her mind telling her to run, she doesn't listen and stands her ground instead, hoping to keep the beast's attention on her while the others take it down.
Carl sees the attacks being focused by Auriel and Pipyap on their beast, he turns and funnels a blast of energy at that beast, hoping to put one down. The blast is not as powerful as what he would like, but it seems to have some impact.
Eldritch blast : 15 to hit, for 4 points of force damage.

Observing his companions' assaults on the other displacer beast, Auriel feels a surge of determination. He decides to abandon his defensive stance and readies himself to strike at the beast in front of him. A sharp cry from the hawk flying above briefly catches his attention. It reminds him of a tale he read long ago, and the rhyme it began with.
Somehow, this memory makes the paladin strike truer, his halberd bursting into a radiance that contrasts with the beast's onyx hide.
