Auriel takes the rear, staying vigilant for any attack that might come from behind. He'll keep concentrating on his divine shield for as long as possible.
The point at which the displacer beasts fled into the forest is quite visible, and it does not get any harder to track the beasts from there. Following the trail is surprisingly easy; blood marks the ground, and the flora is battered by the beasts' heavy forms. Curiously, the trail seems to end just sixty feet into the forest, however. Hex and Sylyra don't even have time to shout a word of warning before the displacer beasts re-emerge from the trees, pouncing to strike once more.
OOC: Auriel, Carlthuzad and Uragum are surprised during round 1 and are unable to move or take any actions this round.
Round 1 Order: Players <===== Displacer Beasts
Placement: All combatants are within movement range of one another.
Health: One displacer beast is wounded. One displacer beast is lightly wounded.
Auriel is lightly wounded. Hex is lightly wounded. Sylyra is lightly wounded.
Auriel watches the beasts re-emerge from the forest, feeling both surprised and frustrated as he is too slow to act or even determine who is going to fall prey to their imminent assault. He can only hope that the wounds they have inflicted on the beasts will hinder their attacks.

As soon as the displacer beasts appear, Hex rushes towards a nearby tree and tries to climb up it. She knows the beasts could probably reach her it they wanted to but hoped the height would at least discourage them.
Athletics to climb: 17
If she manages to succeed, she settles onto a sturdy branch and aims her bow at the more damaged beast. She moves her Hunter's Mark onto it, if it isnt already.
If she doesn't succeed, she'll just move her movement to get as far as she can from the beasts.
Movement: Climbing up the tree. Not sure if it would require her to dash. If so, then she'll use her action to dash. If not, she'll attack.
OOC: Since Sylyra's player is away for a bit, I'll bot him with a black bear attack against the other displacer beast.
Hex's arrow finds its mark; as the displacement effect is disrupted, the beast trudges forward with an arrow sunk deep into its neck. Surely a fatal wound given time, the beast seems to care little. It meets the charge of Sylyra in his bear form while its companion leaps and bounds to the other side of the druid. Sylyra is quickly overwhelmed, clawing away one tentacle only to be slammed by three others. With the final strike, the druid is shunted out of his wild form, falling to the forest floor unconscious, battered and bleeding from the impacts.
Round 2 Order: Players <===== Displacer Beasts
Placement: All combatants are within movement range of one another.
Health: One displacer beast is severely wounded. One displacer beast is lightly wounded.
Sylyra is unconscious and dying (0 successes, 0 failures). Auriel is lightly wounded. Hex is lightly wounded.
Ammunition: Hex has used 1 arrow.
OOC: The displacement is back in effect, and attacks against the beasts are made at disadvantage until one hits.
It all happens too fast. In the blink of an eye, the wild-shaped druid charges at the displacer beasts, and a heartbeat later his elven form is lying on the ground, bleeding out. Auriel looks at Sylyra's body, his eyes wide with shock. When he raises them towards the beasts they are golden, and enraged. The eladrin, now in his Summer form, charges towards the most injured of the creatures with the intention of returning the favor it has inflicted upon the druid. As the weapon finds purchase, it shimmers with radiant light and the creature loses its displacing effect. The paladin yells at the others, "Finish the beast!"
Halberd to Hit: 21 18 /Damage: 10. Spent my last slot on a Divine Smite for 5 extra radiant damage.
Just as she is feeling safe up high in the trees, Hex watches as Sylyra is overwhelmed by the displacer beasts. So concerned with herself, she left him alone and abandoned. "Sylyra!" She screams out his name as he shifts back into his elven form unconscious. Her face turns pale, the fear clear as day, but she grits her teeth and tries to stay calm, following up Auriel's attack with one of her own.
Uragum growls as he sees the two beasts coordinate to take out Syl-bear. He rushes over to his fallen friend while pulling out a healing potion. "It's good to die in battle friend, but better to survive it," he says as he shoves the mouth of the bottle into Sylyra's mouth. He then takes a defensive position over Sylyra while summoning his shadowy blade.
Move action: Move Sylyra while pulling out healing potion
Carl’s eyes go wide as he sees Sylyra go down, trying to focus his energy strike to the most damaged displacer beast. He’s distracted as the bolt of force comes forward from his hands, missing his shot. He breathes a sigh of relief as he sees Uragum go to his side and his eyes start to flutter open. Carl maneuvers to get distance from the beast if possible.

Sylyra's groan turns into a growl as he struggles to get back to his feet beside Uragum. Seeing one of the displacer beasts defeated, he magics his staff and swings it at the other beast.
OOC: I absolutely hate to do it to that roll but this second displacer beast hasn't been hit yet, so its displacement is still in effect and I'll make an extra roll for the disadvantage Sylyra's attack would have. If it hits (and is not a critical) then I'll use the first die in the damage roll.
Auriel calculates the trajectory of his swing correctly toward what looks like empty air. The halberd strikes the flank of the displacer beast, shunting it into its actual location. The beast wobbles before Hex's arrow strikes its head, slaying it for good.
The second beast roars in defiance as Uragum arrives to pour a potion of healing down Sylyra's throat. The druid stands, waiting for Carlthuzad's eldritch blast to sail by before smacking his shillelagh into the remaining creature, ducking and leaping away from its oncoming tentacles as the beast seems enraged that he still stands.
Round 3 Order: Players <===== Displacer Beasts
Placement: All combatants are within 30 feet of one another, except for Carlthuzad 45 feet away.
Health: The remaining displacer beast is lightly wounded.
Sylyra is badly wounded. Auriel is lightly wounded. Hex is lightly wounded.

"I'm your enemy!" Uragum shouts at the displacer beast while he rushes it with his sword of solidified gloom. He feints a chop and then adjusts it to a downward slash.
Move to displacer beast
Action: Attack with shadow blade, if still dim light, then attacks w/ advantage
Auriel keeps swinging at the remaining displacer beast, relieved that Sylyra is on his feet thanks to Uragum, but still angered by the whole situation. They didn't come here to fall prey to the beasts roaming the forest. They didn't come here to fall prey to anyone. They had a mission, and gods be their witnesses, they would see it through.
After Uragum hits, the beast seems to be a little less… blurry … and Carl focuses his beam on the creature, shooting a bolt of energy at it again. “Go down, ya mangy cur!” He continues to circle around it, getting the best angle for his shot.
Eldritch blast : 22 to hit, for 8 points of force damage.

Uragum falls some place into the middle of the group. He doesn't summon his blade just yet as the spell has such a short duration.
