Amiz will dispatch the tied up hobgoblin with a swing from his ax and retrieves his rope. He follows his companion in from a distance again as to not ruin their stealth attempt.
The hobgoblin’s head gruesomely rolls down the hill. The rest of you hear no one else coming from the front entrance to the mine, but Draíocht‘s wolf senses detect goblinoids… lots of them. The back entrance is much the same. But seems to go straight down rather than on a slight angle.
Valar looks down into the entrance, looking to see if there is any torch light flickering, or if the hobgoblins were using their darkvision (Perception: 8; investigation: 15)
Thelanis says, "I can see pretty far in the darkness, and I'm pretty good at defending myself, I think I should take point. Question is, do we go in the front and face them the way they expect, or take the hidden entrance and hope the disruption gives us an advantage. I lean towards the back entrance, myself."

"The back entrance sounds like a better plan to me. Though that would mean we would need to climb down as it's a steep shaft." says Amiz
If everyone is okay with the back entrance Amiz will take out his hammer and piton and hammer it into the ground. He then ties the rope to the piton and let the rest of the rope spill over into the shaft.
Looking at the shaft's steep climb, Draíocht drops out of his dire wolf form. "I smelled a lot of goblins in there." he says. He starts handing out his goodberries. "Could get rough. Best to have some healing access."
Turning to Thelanis he adds, "Blessings of the woods upon you."
[[ Made 60 goodberries the previous evening. Some were given to a dwarf (not sure how many). So figure we can split them how is best decided. Want to give them to the other partymembers so they don't morph into his wildshape form, becoming inaccessible. ]]
As Thelanis repels down the shaft, the smell of decay and dirt emanates up from the pit. About halfway down, about 20ft, a passageway comes off the shaft, through which seems to be a private bedroom of some kind. The shaft then goes down another 20ft before levelling off.
Are you going into the bedroom, continue down the shaft, or heading back up to discuss with the others?
Thelanis - As you nimbly jump off the rope and sneak down the short rock-carved hall to the bedroom, you see a candle burning and the silhouette of two people talking, one big man and a smaller woman. They haven't noticed you but their voices carry. They discuss, "These fool hobgoblins have no idea what they're sitting on here." The man says, "They think that pit down there is only useful for dredging up old artefacts like that maul the leader carries."
He does a kind of half snort-half roar as the woman responds, "Yes the leader, Wrorak g'Ruek is a fool for sure, but he has a platoon of hobgoblins down here and more besides. We cannot handle them alone i don't think, we should leave now and go get the others. That pit down there might be the easy entrance into Kholias that Lestheris is looking for. With all of us we'd easily be able to kill a few, then she can bring them back and then a few more. A few times through that then we have our own arisen hobgoblin platoon. We might even be able to add this g'Ruek to our crew, if Lestheris thinks its a good idea."
The big man scratches his chin, "Or maybe we stay here and talk it out with him. Perhaps we'd be able to barter our way into the pit." The woman spits back, "You'd make a deal with filthy hobgoblins!? Whats to say they don't just stab us in the back as soon as we enter the pit? No, they all gotta die, then rise again our pets..."
Thelanis sneaks [[Stealth 17]] back to the rope and climbs up, intending on pulling the rope up after her. She will relate the conversation to the others.

No torchlight. Just darkness in the mine.

Is Thelanis scouting alone, or are you all heading down the rope? I'll get a Perception check from Thelanis as well.
Perception: 11. Thelanis would have said to give her a few moments, and she'd tug on the rope when to come down.

So what does Thelanis do? Confront the two in the bedroom, or head back?
[[Sorry, had an unexpected crazy day.]]
