The door opens into a fairly cozy looking bedroom. A dusty bed stands with its headboard against the north wall. At the foot of the bed rests a wooden chest with a lock. A desk in the southeast corner has stacks of musty old tomes atop it. An old rug woven with arcane symbols lies in the middle of the floor.
Since Nikkitchs detect magic is still up from the fight, he can sense that both the chest as well as something hidden under the rug are emanating abjuration magic.
Rico, Nikk & Canti [Arcana]: The arcane runes on the rug itself don't make any literal sense, probably just decorative. Pisgah [Survival]: This room is just as dusty as other abandoned sections of the dungeon. Whoever lived here hasn't been home in a while.
Careful not to touch the carpet, Jaya will take the green copper helmet they found on level one, and toss it in the center of the rug, testing to see if it triggers anything.
Jaya inspects the kitchen. There is a faint arcane rune on each of the formerly animated objects. The dragonborn recognizes these from his time in the guard. Waterdeeps petty mages and lowly cultists pay good money for obedient animated weapons. Now the rune has faded, the enchantment gone. A tinkerer or enchanter might pay for them to salvage what is left, but probably not much. Other than that, the cookery equipment looks mundane and there is no trace left of the strange presence.
Having a good look at the bed, Nikkitch can conclude that it's an ordinary construction. Under the bed, he finds a large selection of wine bottles. All of them are empty. There are two more empty bottles gathering dust in the bedside tables. A spider is happily crawling around in one.
The green copper helmed tossed by Jaya bounces off the rug. The rug is unperturbed.
The dusty papers and tomes on the desk radiate a vague menace in Pisgahs direction. An old sage once told him: You gaze too long into books, the books eventually stare back. Or something like that.
The chest is indeed trapped, arcane in nature. Someone has etched tiny runes along the opening. [Arcana] Rico identifies them as those of invoking lightning. A costly security measure. But since Rico identified it, she can easily disable it by scratching out a few key glyphs.
The lock is similarly overcome, a satisfying *click* sounds from within. However, as Rico opens the lid, an empty box stares back. Well, not quite empty. There is a slip of paper with a note in ink. In common, it reads: “Retirement fund. Don’t spend this on wine, Kalabash!”
“Hmm” Jaya grunts. “Nikk said this chest radiated magic. Perhaps there is more to this chest to find?” with that Jaya just looks over at Nikk, questioningly.
After looking at the note and seeing all the wine bottle around, Rico comments, "It appears that Kalabash, the occupant here, spend the retirement funds on wine. I am sure that led to many problems for Kalabash and whoever wrote the note."
Finishing with the chest, Rico examines the books, to see if there are any containing worthwhile information. Investigation 12
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Strength Save DC 14: on a failure, Canti is slammed against the ceiling and then drops back to the ground, taking 5 bludgeoning damage in the process and landing prone.
Rico finds that most of the tomes are actually empty or only partially filled. The contents are written with a shoddy hand, using short notations and sometimes leaving out entire pages. There are careless blots of ink and childrish drawings too. The text is in common and uses so much arcane jargon that it hurts. It seems like someone was making notes on teleportation and extradimensional spaces, trying to recreate some sort of demesne that lied outside of all planes. Depending on where Rico got her arcane training, she may have flashbacks to that time. Students often focus on one particular topic and their ramblings on the potential possibilities of applied wizardry was enough to explain at least half of the prejudices against the spellcasting arts. Seems like these notes were made by such a person.
Now that Rico has disabled the trap, Nikkitch no longer detects the abjuration aura from the chest.
Hearing Jaya speaking about the carpet, Pisgah snaps out of his fugue and, stepping to the edge of the rug, he grabs an edge in his left hand, holding Big Bart in his right, and gives the rug a hard yank.
Jaya and Pisgah move the carpet aside with panache, the fabric landing in a dusty pile.
Where it was, you see a 10-foot-diameter circle painted on the stone floor that seems to have been partially erased. Nikkitch detects that his is the object projecting the abjuration aura.
Nikkitch, Canti and Rico [Arcana] can tell that this is a summoning circle.
Nikk wants to try repairing it. He pulls a piece of chalk and begins attempting to mend the runes he's seen before. It's likely a fools errand, but this was important enough to hide...

Jaya will take a few minutes to look around the room (where we just fought) for anything of value, interest, etc.

The kenku pipes up in Jaya's voice.
"We've. Got. Something. Under. The. Rug. And. In. The. Chest."
He then begins searching the bed. [Investigation:18]

Ha! This will become Jaya's passcode, at some point in the future!
Pisgah goes to check the desk. INVESTIGATION roll 2 on Nat 1.
Pisgah forgot what he was going to do as he crossed the room to the desk and is standing in the middle of the rug, looking dazed.
The dusty papers and tomes on the desk radiate a vague menace in Pisgahs direction. An old sage once told him: You gaze too long into books, the books eventually stare back. Or something like that.
Rico says, "I will see what I can do about getting the chest open."
First she checks the chest for traps: Investigation 24
Then she tries to pick the lock: Thieve's Tools (dex) 17

Just a cursory glance apparently...

In that case, Jaya will say to the group, be ready and flip over the carpet!

Jaya asks, “Are you sure that’s a good idea, what if it summons something? Something nasty? Though if it summoned some wine, that maybe pleasant.”
Jaya gets into a fighting stance besides Nikk ready to present himself as a target if needed, hoping he is being over precautious.
Pisgah quickly moves to stand opposite Jaya with his greatsword raised to strike.
"Maybe after this we could have Rico fashion some door stops and take a rest?"
