"Not to be a killjoy..." Brom pipes up from the cart to those still on it. "Could we not head around the path by heading off the track a few minutes? Those vines look like they hurt a lot."
"I just thought that if you two backed away from the living vines trying to cut you, we could easily burn through this in a few minutes." If they leave the vine's range, Johann will throw a fire bolt at the vines.
(I'm assuming Brazzak and Dar'Quilyn step away from the flailing tendril zone)
Johann hurls another mote of flame at the wall, causing more of it to set alight. As they watch the flames dance along the tendrils, they can see new ones sprouting up and taking place to close the gap where Brazzak escaped from.
Kithre sits and watches as they try to hack and burn their way through the vines, opting to not join in the fray.
"Say, Brom, were these brambles this particularly nasty the last you saw? They seem to be far more - ah - sentient than I had imagined." she says, nudging her fellow diminutive traveler.
Brom shakes his head. "No, it was more that the hedges had become overgrown. You could still get through, though it would be a squeeze for a cart like this. This is much more overgrown, and animate, than when I was here."
Johann stops throwing fire and sighs. "Well, we have three options. Try to get through this somehow, try to bring the cart through denser woods, or go back to the inn until morning. What should we do?"
Well there is obviously something magical causing the foliage to grow in such a manor. To locate magic, perhaps a detect magic will be a better reveal.

As Brazzak says that, the flames snap some of the tendrils as the lash around randomly, like a taught bungee cord being cut.

Brazzak:
You notice a strange smell after being pulled into the vines. Looking down your boots are covered in rich manure.
The voice of Pa Gint flashed through Brazzak's memory.
*Here's something even a dunce like you can get. On a farm, everything comes down to shite.*
He turns to his companions.
"Something funny's going on with the manure around here. Ugh. Magic already gives me headaches. Does there have to be magic shite, too?"
