We could certainly try something 'live' now and then. It's really hard to do that with the DDB forums as you basically have to constantly refresh the page to have any idea if someone posted. I've used Roll20 but not really played there. (i.e. it was used for maps and the game was here.) I've played on Discord too which I think works well. (You can use Avrae to upload your character to Discord and make rolls there.)
I'd hope we could keep going with regular posting for the PBP as well.
Unfortunately, the PBP is slow. But it works best if folks regularly post - to me the minimum is once per day. Otherwise... well, it takes a week to go down a hallway!
I can't speak for the previous DM... I wouldn't worry about how long or short your posts are. If you don't have time, then a quick line or two to keep your character moving with the others can be helpful. And ... sometimes you have to backtrack a little bit to reply to things that others have already moved past. Post longer if you need to. PBP you kind of have to be flexible.
Not sure if that helps, but I would like to keep things going here with this campaign.
Right on. Starting now, we’ll go ahead and move to a strict 24-hour post window before I progress the game, and we’ll continue with a post-a-day minimum. I greatly encourage long posts or more -involved- posts, so definitely don’t shy away and attempt to minimize yourself. As for a live session, I utilize DnDBeyond, discord, and Syrinscape for all my virtual games. If we want to do one, just let me know what dates you might have available in the near future to organize it!
Sorry about disappearing, you guys have been a great group and I did not mean to ditch. I was locked out of my account temporarily and didn't post on any of my campaigns, which was not intentional. (I was out hunting ig?) Anyway, lmk when a good point to return to the game will be, I don't think it'll make sense to show up now.
We haven't done much in the last couple of weeks, but hoping that is about to change! I think the only thing we did was put the X in the door and investigate the stairs up, which lead outside. Volneer was there all along! :)
@OTheophylus I didn't have my backstory fully worked out when I made my character, and so I have a terrible Arcana score +0 with proficiency, so I'm asking permission to swap my WIS with my INT scores? If not that's okay but it would just be nice to have a good Arcana check as an ex-magic professor. Thanks for reading my rant.
Yea, I think all notifications have stopped working. I've found if you go to your Account page and click the 'Notifications' tab, it will accurately show you the latest post for threads you're subscribed to. That's been working for me.
I've also seen threads with posts dated November 2024. New posts all disappear before those so it's really hard to follow those!

Just want to revisit this really quick. Would that be alright? Thanks.

Hey. Sorry I’m still not getting notifications and haven’t checked OOC in a minute. Yeah, absolutely. If you have any pressing questions or changes you’d like to make regarding your background or your character, just shoot me a message!
Calim is looking for a few items in town this evening after the meeting.
1. A pot of pitch, with a secure lid. 2. The highest proof liquor in town, quick and fast burn. 3. Anything explosive, powder or emulsion (I'll do a quick check to see if he knows how to make something more effective). 4. Fishing tackle 5. Enough sturdy reeds for the whole party, at least a foot and a half long.
He is also going to see if he can at least price out some leather armor, something that will be less cumbersome in water than his full plate.
History 22 (just to see if he knows something about making liquid fire, combustibles or pitch/soap based incendiaries that might still work in wet environments)
Hmm... if only Calim knew someone that is an alchemist...
Using XGtE, you can use Alchemist's Supplies to make one of many items (including alchemist's fire) once per long rest at essentially half cost. (So, 25 gp for alchemist's fire.) I would imagine proficiency in Alchemist's Supplies would probably help to make something explosive.
So if Sabina is aware of his plans she could probably help.

Calim is looking for a few items in town this evening after the meeting.
1. A pot of pitch, with a secure lid. Callim would have this on hand! resourceful and handy, and being one of the first tradesmen of the town, he knows how to make it. (A full pot on hand, and crafting a full pot requires a full day, a large bundle of Korean fatwood, a flame, and any other optional contents to fortify the pitch 2. The highest proof liquor in town, quick and fast burn. Typically your go-to resource for liquor is the local tavern, however you Callim knows the highest proof stuff can be found from the hearthshire farm, where they run a low-profile, private distillery for their friends and family. They craft the highest proof liquor from stoutgrain, a grain only grown by halflings, and one that does seemingly very well in Norean soil. 3. Anything explosive, powder or emulsion (I'll do a quick check to see if he knows how to make something more effective). The mines in the eastern part of westhaven boasts a great variety of minerals and ores, some of which are very volatile. the shift boss on duty may sell you some raw boom-powder with the right coercion 4. Fishing tackle all of the fishing is done at the port (Sealions rest) and the fish is then traded over to Westhaven. Any tackles you don't craft yourself would only be obtained by them. 5. Enough sturdy reeds for the whole party, at least a foot and a half long. Depending on your purposes, the farms may have reeds for you, otherwise you may want to check the town square or acquire reeds on your adventures outside the Walls of Westhaven.
He is also going to see if he can at least price out some leather armor, something that will be less cumbersome in water than his full plate. Leather can typically be sold in the Town square for 10 GP, for Callim, the Charisma DC Will be NAT20=free of charge 15+=5GP 10-14=7GP 5-9=9GP 1-4=10GP
History 22 (just to see if he knows something about making liquid fire, combustibles or pitch/soap based incendiaries that might still work in wet environments)
Aside from the Pitch, and boom powder, Callim can visit the tower near the overseers mansion for magical alternatives, and the alchemists shop for a vial of alchemists fire.
I guess Sabina was thinking to go to the tavern, see if we can talk to a few folks, then go our ways to sleep until morning when we leave. If the guild hall is the better place to find people that have explored these areas, then maybe we go there instead.
Just let me know how my builds go (and what I might have to roll for them). This is not Artificer level explosives. These are meant to be more like Molotov Cocktails that might be able to create either a flaming water slick and/or create some concussive damage underwater. The pot of pitch is meant to affix them, create airtight seals between rooms...things like that. The fishing tackle is pretty easy to figure out (though I will also want to use it to make less crude alarms and such).

"We'll I guess we are done here then?" he says standing and reaches out a hand to Dorn. "Good to see you again" and throws a large wink to Aria.
"I'm about ready for a drink if anyone is interested, that Noriberry was a bit tart."
With that he will nod at the guild people and begin to head out.
I'm pretty sure this was meant for IC
