Tenebril yells back, "Agreed. Do you think it's just attacking anything that crosses that clean line? If so, we need to get you both back on the other side as quickly as we can. I don't think I'd be able to carry either of you though." With that Tenebril switches his tactics and casts Minor Illusion to make it sound like the mushrooms screaming and I drop that sound right on top of the Roper that initially attacked the newcomer.
He'll then fly towards the newcomer and Sparhawk in case they need assistance (Help) while trying to stay out of the range of the maw's or roper's tentacles.
Did you take Gharzun's action into account? Didn't see it responded to, unless I just missed it somewhere...
<Sorry, bit of a flood of posts.>
The brilliant flash momentarily blinds the nearby humanoids as it subsides, revealing the crack running along the side of the huge tooth lined lobe where Gharzun's blow landed.
<I'm wondering if i drew or mentioned a line? I tried to hint the maw uses tremorsense, so the flying guy is pretty safe from it. The party passed through here hefore but werent attacked because they were lucky. The ropers drag tgimgs along the ground and when the maw pops out, they might get some scraps. They arent interested in fighting, they just want to eat. So, what do they do when the see a shreiker? Probably try to eat it. They're not tacticians they're just opportunists.
Edit. Ok you said sound .so if one sees the other but it starts to shreik? I dont know>
(Edited) the shreiking echoes through the cavern, vibrating the stone columns theoughout the chamber and causing the maw to flail its tendrils wildly. Two find a pair of stalagnates and attempt to pull the source of the sound into the enormous razor-tooth-filled mouth emerging from the marl floor, snapping the pillars and leaving the stonw above unstable, craxking at the top and tumbling into the cavern floor.
Sparhawk, Gharzun, and Tenebril make Dex saves or take 15 bludgeoning damage (DC15)
Dex 17 save. Tenebril dodges the pillar by just inches. Seeing how they reacted to the sound, he decides he's wrong on the sound trigger and decides to change it to just a whisper so as to not cause that chaos again.
It can see well enough. I dont really get the auditory illusion in relation to a roper. The maw cant quite reach the ropers even if it wanted to. that's how they manage to live here.
I cant steess wnough the nonexistent value of fighting a wall of roxks and teeth to the death, but agsi, players are up.
Yeah I wasn't sure what it's reach was. Was trying to get it to go after the ropers. I thought they had gone beyond the boundary line when chasing the newcomer. Was hoping to get it to go after them instead of us so we could run away. I can't stop the casting of minor illusion, just change what it's doing so figured a whisper would be missed until we were gone and if they go after it in the next minute, I don't think it'll mess with us any (hoping)
Kos will move within range if he has to (30 feet movement speed and 30 foot range for the spell) and cast Sanctuary on the human.
For 1 minute any creature who targets the warded creature with an attack or a harmful spell must first make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or lose the attack or spell. This spell doesn't protect the warded creature from area effects, such as the explosion of a fireball.
If the warded creature makes an attack, casts a spell that affects an enemy, or deals damage to another creature, this spell ends.
"I'll try and protect the human as we make our escape!"
Kos will take the Dodge action try to help the human escape.
