Cha!jil runs some quick calculations a realises that the creature will be able to strike her and kill her if she tries to escape, she is out of prayers for the day and she REALLY wants to go back to the jungle.....so theres nothing for it but to fight on.
No, but if we want to really examine the rules the thing I said about detect magic doesn't work that way. I'm tweaking something for dramatic effect. Either the monster specifically so it fits the fiction better to me or we could make it a house rule to the spell so players can also use it this way. It's pretty specific, but I think it's how it should work.
I did think about WW, but I don't see how it would resist a monster pulling down, it seems to produce a buoyant force twice opposite to force of gravity. Actually, I'm not sure how fast you sink when not swimming or being pulled. I just guessed 30ftt
You so automatically get back up to surface if you succeed in the escape, though. You'd actually have to fail once to get bogged under. This does present one with the opportunity though, to either dash for the shore or make an attack on the outnumbered monsters and then move or not.
He is only down 10ft, but Sparhawk and Cha! Jil were dragged 30ft down. Sparhawk escaped the creatures pincers and rapidly floated back to the surface. Cha! Jil still needs to make a grapple check and Koselig remains at the waters surface with one chuul. The others at at 10ft (1), easily seen, or 30ft (2) and heavily obscured.
I'm trying to make this battle interesting. Dallas has a choice here, either try to escape the grapple with a skill check or use EB with DA and end it on a hit with repelling blast. Or, he could blast the one grappling Cha who will dash to the bottom of the lake in a moment if it's still got her. It would still be with DA. She does have the water walk so she would float up 60ft if she escapes the grapple, but that would still put her at - 30ft and susceptible to attacks at AD that could keep her submerged.
So, I'm really waiting on Dallas because this is the good part.
Sparhawk made the escape check, so I'm assuming that was for Cha! Unfortunately the second EB misses, so it's moot.
The Chull dragging Dallas under water is repelled from the pirate, I guess 10ft further down. Dallas then shoots to the surface of the water.
The chuul grappling Cha!Jil dashes straight down, dragging the dwarf with it to a depth of 90ft below the waves. Note: thus is the bottom of the lake.
The chull hit by the eldritch blast swims back toward the surface. While still underwater, with its ten foot reach, it reaches out a pincher to snag Dallas' legs while Sparhawk finds his opponent resurfaced and again on the attack. Kos again faces the chuul that has marked him for its meal.
Sparhawk blade slices through the chuul attempting to eat him, bisecring the creatures exoskeleton as bikious secretions cloud the dark water, all Grey goo to the observers in the battle.
Turning his attention to Koselig's assailant, the captain deals a powerful blow to the chuul, but it remains afloat and shreiks in pain and rage.

Koselig will use his Flash of Genius feature to add +4 to his DEX check for a total of 14.

It's actually 5ft/rd, so this is (6+1)x gravity

Cha!jil lands one hit, but struggles to damage the creature.

(If Koeslig or Dallas is near Sparhawk, +3 on your save from his Aura).
It's not a save, it's a check. So, nope.
