Diana moves to Thane and whispers to him:
- "Wait, I got an interesting idea".
She approaches the kobold representative and starts her speech:
- "Oh, Mighty Kobold kin! Were you asking about the rubies? We, fellow adventures on our quest to hunt down worst Ruby Thieves of this Dale. Orcs that we pursue just got their dirty hands on biggest ruby in all lands."
- "Dead? No no no! we want the greatest Kobold tribe to breed and prosper".
She cleared her throat and continued.
- "As for this ruby, it is the only one of many that we know is in orc king possessions, you mighty kobolds don't wanna miss your special ruby? I'm pretty sure he has it, will you sit here and wait for it to find his way to you?".
Diana smiled an evil grin. The lust of kobolds for possessing gems is known to many folks.
- "As for your help, you can give us best warriors of your tribe for hunting the orc king, for a return of your loyal service you will find your precious ruby in treasure keep of orc king, I'm absolutely sure in it, make no doubt".
The kobolds mutter to themselves for a moment before responding.
"We decided that maybe orc king do have ruby, and thief may have been orc. You are looking for orc king? And none of you are gnomes...you give me payment up front and I give you 5 kobold warriors. 10 gold for each warrior, I think."
Fargim feels like this is the time to step forward and explain any possible miscommunication down the line.
"I am a small giant, but people mistakes me sometimes for a gnome. I can prove to you that I am a giant as I can do things no gnome can ever do!"
He picks up a rock he had spotted before, a good chunk about 4 pounds in weight. "See that tree?" And he throws the rock at a tree, this time about 90ft away (casting Catapult again, doing 11 damage to it).
He then drops his disguise, stands in front of the kobols, being all tiny and bald and with a gray skin and sighs, "My giant parents throw me away because I'm too small."
Elrik wonders whose gold is being offered up as payment for the services of these kobolds. He looks at Hox and says, "Hox, m'lad, what do you think of parting ways with some of your gold to add a few of your kin to this little outing of ours?"
Then, with a smile, to Diana, "I hope your coin purse can keep the promise you're making."

Hox peeks out from behind Volthero, hissing at the idea of giving gold, "Dwarf man still owe Hox a gold coin. And Hox is not their clan kin, but...me will talk with kobolds." Hox approaches besides Diana and nods his head to the kobolds
In draconic, "We plan to sneak into orc camp, not need strong warriors but ones that blend with shadows. If not find the ruby there, kobolds can take what they can get. Clan ranger just want to find clan children. His clan will be fighting most of the orcs, so we should see little there. If kobolds want to leave when fight, that is fair. You are not here for this clan, you're here for your clan. Hox know this and respect that. Hox won't ask for your clan kin to die, just help find ranger's clan children, please. And trust Hox, if small giant is gnome, Hox will help you kill him."
Volthero watches the bartering between the Kobolds and his party. As the conversation moves into a language he does not understand a slightly sour expression comes across his face. He begins to ignore the conversation and take a look around to make sure no one is using this distraction to creep closer to them.
Elrik, unable to follow all that is spoken in Draconic, hopes that Hox is as good with diplomacy as he is with a dagger. Elrik sees the less-than-satisfied look on Volthero's face and nods in agreement. "Hard to guess where this might lead, eh, Volthero?"
"Where it leads isn't the question, it's leading to blood and war like everything does. The question is whether it's blood from a fight or a dagger in the back."

Fargim Persuasion:11
After Fargim's display, and some short discussion with Hox, the kobold leader addresses Diana.
"Okay, we decide you maybe telling truth, or maybe not, but if orcs have ruby this best shot of kobolds getting ruby. I give you 5 kobold warriors for 5 gold pieces each, and if orcs have ruby, kobolds get ruby. These are strong kobold warriors. If I find out you use kobolds as meat, you will have problem with all kobold unions. Deal?"
"Aye, let's cover some ground, everyone. This dwarf is long overdue for a meal!"
Diana moves to Thane and whispers to him:

Diana casts Minor Illusion of 5ft size Ruby.
- "Yes, it is just THAT big, my honourable little friends. If you decide to help us, you can have this ruby for yourself, are you with us?".

Elrik--half curious, half amused--looks on.
With the flash of the spell coming to light Volthero slightly lowers his head and grumbles mostly to himself.
"That is not a promise I would make without a legion at my back. Ants are small but enough of them still make prey from predators."
There is an audible gasp from some of the kobolds, but the leader quickly shakes his head.
"This is beautiful ruby, but is not missing ruby. Missing ruby is special..." He seems lost in thought for a moment.
"But how can we help? We not dumb enough to agree before knowing, maybe you want us to help by becoming dead."

Diana addresses kobold representative
- "Of course it's a Deal!"
She turns to Jarl.
- "Jarl, pay them".
Elrik attempts to hide the grin on his face as he admires Diana's shrewd move.
"I, uh...I only have 5 gold pieces to my name, but I'm willing to help wherever I can," Jarl says.
OOC: Jarl will make the payment if we can figure out where the other 20 gold pieces are coming from.

* Diana thoughts: Jarl with 5 gold coins?.. what a joke
She took out another 5 gold coins from her purse and asked her company:
- "Any volunteers out there?"
"Nay," says Elrik, shaking his head. He then looks at Fargim, Volthero, and Hox, wondering how they'll respond.
