*Sorry for the silence, I've been slot busier than I thought*
Volthero ignites the ground beneath a worg with Create Bonfire. He then moves over to just behind the edge of the formation.
*not sure when I'll get to post again so next action would be defending the edge of the formation, if the orcs do try and flank Volthero will step forward and use Burning Hands on whoever is trying. After that he will engage in melee with any survivors. *
"Stay behind the line!" Roccar calls, but it is too late. Elrik splashes across the river at the west end of the line, swinging his greataxe wide of a worg. Hox quickly follows; he leaps at a worg, plants his foot in its side, grabbing a massive ear, and pulls himself up just long enough to slash his dagger across its rider's face before stabbing it in the heart. Hox is back on the ground before the orc slumps over dead. Diana readies herself as Fargim runs west and fires a bolt into the orc at the far west side of the line. A 5-foot raging fire suddenly appears underneath a worg in the middle of the line as Volthero chants it into creation, but it avoids the flames and continues its approach.
"Charge! Don't leave them defenseless! Stretch the line, do not get surrounded!" Roccar shouts, throwing himself into the fray with an apparent reckless abandon, batting an orc's axe aside with his before turning it back to slash into its torso. Thane doesn't hesitate to charge into the east side of the orc line, whirling his swords miraculously, stabbing repeatedly, placing three fresh holes into an orc before sidestepping an incoming greataxe and placing three fresh holes into a second. Both orcs die before they knew they'd been hit. The Reavers follow Roccar's lead, abandoning defense for the onslaught, unleashing another fierce yell and unleashing fury on the orc line. They crash into the middle of the line and stop the worg charge in its tracks. The air fills with a crimson spray as half the orc riders die. The second orc line breaks as the riders on the ends want nothing to do with the vicious barbarians.
Ten riderless worgs, too excited by the prospect of battle, strike at the Reaver line while the rest of the orc wave flees to join the first. One Reaver is trampled beneath worg claws next to Elrik. More Reaver blood is spilled down the line, but the remaining eleven remain standing.
"More incoming! Hold fast, we'll break them!"
Thirty more orcs riding worgs, the remaining Longhunt force, are quickly approaching.
Tracking: Ten worgs are engaged in melee with the Reavers' defensive line, Thane, Elrik and Hox. Diana, Fargim, and Volthero stand 30 feet behind the defensive line. Thirty orcs/worgs are 60 feet away from the defensive line.
"Damnable worgs!" curses Elrik. Seeking to exact some sort of vengeance on behalf of the trampled Reaver, the dwarf aims the blade of his axe at the worg's neck.
Elrik's vicious chop misses by a mile, sticking in the wet ground along the bank of the river. Fargim looses another bolt that lands in a worg's neck. Hox lands two painful stabs into the nearest worg's flank, darting between its legs. Diana creates an illusive copy of a Reaver in the middle of the line. Volthero moves to assist Thane at the right side of the line, unleashing a cone of fire from his hands at a trio of riderless worgs. They emerge from the flames singed but still moving.
Roccar buries his axe into a worg's skull, dropping it dead into the river. He yanks it out and sweeps around in the same fluid motion, driving a deep gash into another worg's side. Thane continues his onslaught, stabbing viciously into a worg's head three times in rapid succession, killing it, then placing another stab wound into the worg at its side. Four riderless worgs die from The Reavers' blades, and the six remaining carry multiple wounds, fighting out of sheer desperation and instinct.
The Reavers turn away most of the worgs' sluggish attacks, although the Reaver closest to Elrik, who appears to be slowing, loses flesh to a nasty bite. One worg, surrounded by Roccar and three of his Reavers, closes its jaws through Diana's illusion instead. The orcs' final line, the last of its assault force, arrives with javelins in hand. Only three meet their targets; Thane shakes off two of them as if they never hit. Those without a proper line of sight stow their javelins and draw familiar orc greataxes.
Tracking: Six worgs remain engaged in melee from the orcs' second line. Thirty orcs/worgs are 10 feet from the river. Elrik and Hox are engaged in melee with the worgs. Volthero is 10 feet back from the worgs. Diana and Fargim are 30 feet back from the worgs.
Spittle flies as Elrik yanks his axe out of the muck, only to shift off-balance with his next swing, missing wildly. Hox continues wreaking havoc, stabbing a worg in the eye, then grazing its snout with a second strike. Fargim's next bolt finds its mark, striking a particularly ugly orc in the base of its neck. Diana chants and The Reaver illusion disappears and reappears in another location further down the line.
"Abandon defense! Charge the line, Reavers! We break them here or we're dead men!"Roccar shouts, rage etched on his face. He plants his back leg, shifting his weight back with a horizontal swing that misses the worg in front of them, then brings it overhead and with a mighty crash, splits the worg's face in half. The worg lies still as he charges headlong into the mass of thirty orcs. Thane slashes a worg's throat open, then jumping and leaping off of it, thrusts both swords into the side of another, rolling off of its corpse into a run at the orc line. The Reaves, impressively trained, move in near unison, felling the remainder of worgs and crashing right into the middle of the last orc line, halting the charge entirely. Six orcs die as the lines slam together.
In the middle of the line, a Reaver is surrounded by worgs without riders and is quickly turned to paste. On the left side of the line, another Reaver is cut down by an orc axe entering his skull, leaving Elrik and Hox undefended. A worg quickly closes in, and its orc rider sends its greataxe slashing through a gap in Elrik's chain mail (8 damage). With the defensive line shrinking, the orc wave wraps around the right side of the line, nearly surrounding Thane. A particularly careless orc rider charges Volthero, and misses with an awful swing.
Tracking: The battle has reached its full pitch, with the final orc line engaged in melee with Elrik, Volthero, Roccar, Thane, and The Reavers' defensive line. Hox is 10 feet away from the melee. Diana and Fargim are 30 feet away from the melee, in the middle of the line.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Volthero seeing the line being flanked will move to reinforce the line adding his own greataxe to the fray. (If this would provoke an opportunity attack he'll engage the worg rider instead)
Diana's shout carries magical weight to Elrik, strengthening his tiring arms. The course of his greataxe corrects mid-swing, sending it into the orc that attacked him, slashing upward across its chest. It hunches over, badly wounded. It pulls its own greataxe up just in time to block a sudden stab from Hox, who follows with his off hand, cutting the orc's cheek. Fargim sails a bolt over the orc line. Volthero bolsters the right side of the defensive line, wounding an orc.
Roccar swings his greataxe wildly, hacking into a worg's side. Thane finishes the job for Volthero, stabbing the nearby orc through the back of its neck while it is distracted by the warlock, then turns his whirling blades to another orc, slicing it three times, leaving it badly wounded. Two worgs in the center of the line fall to the blades of The Reavers, along with an orc.
The orcs and worgs continue the bedlam as the Reavers begin to visibly tire. Near Elrik, a Reaver is nearly blinded by a slash to the face. Elrik himself deflects an incoming greataxe, and turns to see that a second orc closing in on him has decided to take a swing at Diana's illusion instead. In the middle of the line, a Reaver is ripped in half by a worg's powerful jaws. The right side of the line closes in near Volthero. He steps back from a worg's bite, but feels the bite of a greataxe cut on his side, taking 8 slashing damage.
Tracking: The battle has reached its full pitch, with the remaining two thirds of the final orc line engaged in melee with Elrik, Hox, Volthero, Roccar, Thane, and the eight remaining Reavers. Diana and Fargim are 30 feet away from the melee, in the middle of the line.
