Pain blossomed in Juniper's shoulder with a sharp, searing insistence, a sky shrouded hand instinctively coming up to cover the wound. Her starlit gaze widened in surprise and a more than small amount of fear, trained on the sneering perpetrator of the shot as he vanished into inky blackness. No time to assess or maneuver her way around to get a clear shot- especially as her way became blocked by the tabaxi.
She cut back and away, angling to close distance with the more martially trained Hadrian and Dabbert while her focus darted around to the still visible thugs surrounding the caravan. Seeing the one behind become Ka-Cha's focus, she joined her own efforts to the thri-kreen's. Another bolt of starlight arced from the phantasmal bow, headed straight for the center of Sanna's chest.

Movement
Rising to the call of action, Juniper comes to the aid for the thri-keen. She maneuvers past the dead Mudface and takes her place behind Hadrian. She could clearly see her target now. And the stars that blanket her like a warm astral guide, they nudge her on. 'Shoot. now. This is your moment.' And so she does. A star bolt comes hurling towards the chest of Sanna. Like a deer in headlights, he sees it coming. At first, he blinks. Then he soon collapses into the floor, chest no longer heaving.
Hosh, the twin elf, stares speechless, tightening the straps on his bag further as he looks around for a getaway. It comes a little too late and too soon. Dabbert dashes forth with his roguish agility and quickness. He is on Hosh faster than he could say 'oh no. robbing this caravan was a bad idea.' The grizzled solider is not one to let these fools get away.
Dabbert lunges, spear in hand as he heads for the strike. The blade misses. It strikes the dried murky ground between them. Hosh yelps at the impact. The debris gets sprayed in his face anyways when Dabbert reels the weapon back. Hosh looks around on where to flee.
On the other side of the battle...
Brodan sneers and shakes his head at the loss of one of his bandits dropping dead. "Morons!" He leaves his horse to the side and keeps up his crossbow. Eyeing the darkness swirling from the aarakocra, he maneuvers his way across the battlefield towards Mildred. "Regroup! Regroup!"
Mildred, the bugbear, watches as his leader shouts divisive orders. "We are fighting a losing battle here! We have to go!"Mildred shouts. He grits his teeth.
"No! Not on my watch!"Brodan lets out a deep throated growl. He fires his crossbow at Tendilius, but misses. The arrow instead goes and hits the front seat of the caravan. Luckily no one was there. He sends a shooting glare at Mildred and jerks his head forward.
The bugbear gets the cue, attacking the same target that his captain once shot at. This time, it hits and the arrow is sent forth into Tendilius's arm. The arrow embedding itself into his skin. Mildred gives a puzzled look over the the thug. But the thug does not give him any praise in kind. "Keeping on going!" He shouts to his last two men.
Heiboros grins in the darkness, knowing no one can see it. "Good luck getting away," He hisses in abyssal, swooping towards the horses and the wagon. A blast of flame fires from his hands, enveloping the three horses in the darkness. He turns around and faces Brodan, fire sparking on his talons as his shadow writhes in the darkness.

Ka-Cha moves in swift and precise. With a silent swing of his arms, he takes his act. The dreaded three sided weapon slices through the air- almost out of nowhere. It glides across the dragonborn Brodan's neck, the crimson blood dampening his blue scales. In the light it almost glistens. In shock, the thug grips his own neck- the literal one place he didn't have armor. He curses.
With a tilt of his head and his many eyes, Ka-Cha spies... the wooden chest that Hosh's bag hides. From his telepathy and keen sense of perception, a mental image is projected into each of your minds. Even Eren gets the memo. They pipe up from inside the caravan, "My money! Hows I'ms goings to pay all of yalls?! He took my box!"
Hosh bites his lips and looks at his fallen partner. The bag feels like more than its weight in gold.
Hadrian glides down towards the heat of the battle. With fury and vengeance on his mind, he goes to strike it out with the dragonborn thug. Brodan sneers as he sees this coming, holding onto his neck to keep it from bleeding. "Sos it's a fight you want? Well it's a fight you mongrels will get!" He spits. To which, Hadrian pays in kind. He gets out his greatsword and swings it at the fool- but it misses. Brodan opens one eye at the miss, loosening his wince. He smiles. A large toothy grin.
Hosh, on the other hand, is struggling. Launching an arrow towards Dabbert with his crossbow, the elf completely misses. It strikes the side of the caravan and sticks out like incessant thorn. Following his captain's orders, he goes towards Mildred who is now flagging him down. "This is not going well for us."He whispers as he leans against the side of the caravan, taking cover.
He locks eyes with Mildred. "I know."

Hosh tightens the straps on his bag. 'This is bad. Very bad.' He thinks. His twin, Sanna, was already dead. The dynamic duo reduced now to one. And now it was going to be none. Like a deer in the middle of a road, he stands there, chest heaving and heart pounding. 'Should've never taken this job.'But it was too late. A scorching ray of fire comes down his way. With just a flick of his wand, Tendilius burns down the bandit. He doesn't even have time to scream.
Neither does Mildred, who watches with his mouth agape. He goes to aim his crossbow at the source. The smoke and ash from his fallen companion's body already watering his eyes.
"You're next."
"****"Mildred curses. There wasn't enough time for him to react as his body goes up in flames. The fur on his back, his crude leather armor, even the feathers on his arrows. Nothing is safe. Trying to squelch the flames by stopping, dropping, and rolling did nothing on its intensity. There was nothing left to do but to wither and die. His body slowly stops rolling and goes limp. The fire continues to burn through with him as the fuel.
The horses watch on with hooves kicking and manes whipping. Their neighs pierce the silence. A shadowy darkness glides and slithers up to them. The lead riding horse snorts and sputters at the sight. The shadows move gracefully like water, almost soothing, but the horse knows this is a threat. The two warhorses tied up to the cart take a step back as the darkness encroaches. Their world becomes as dark as their beady little eyes. There is nothing. No sights, no smells, no sounds in this darkness.
The riding horse whinnies and tries to take a step forward and swings its head at it. It hits nothing. The tendrils of darkness slide away and just come back. A wry grin in the depths of these shadows, Heiboros sets fire to the beasts. His Burning Hands comes down at full force upon the riding horse. It whinnies and crumples in pain.
The other two warhorses are set alight. They snort and kick. Their manes on fire and their coat turning just as dark, singed and being reduced to ashes. They do not die, but they sure are on the edge of it. One's feet give out under them and they collapse to the ground. The other kicks and trashes against their yoke, trying to get out to no avail. Their screams drowned out by the silence of the void from the darkness.
The smell of scorched flesh and burnt hair from both man and beast reeks the air. Smoke bellows from the scene of the blast in this already stale air. The fire is choking and overwhelming.
The blue dragonborn looks at the sight of the devastating fire, then back at the downed bandits. He sees the encroaching army before him. What he once thought were measly mongrels an easy target, he could now see was an actual formidable force. He could feel the many eyes on him- despite the darkness surrounding the aarakorca, he could feel that mage's eyes bore down upon him. Taking a knee without breaking eye contact with Tendilius, he does quick a sign of the Sacred Flame. In a moment of clarity, he accepts.

Bordan's eyes look around from where that voice in the darkness was hissing from. All he could see was the wisps and tendrils of shadows that ruminate from the hidden aarakorca. He could tell his opponents were playing chess not checkers. Despite the blood gushing from his neck, he keeps up the crossbow, his voice is dripping with disdain.
"Hah! So headin' to the dark city, are ya?" He chuckles, wincing.
"Not evens a mage like yous can get in there without some help. From the Academy, I bet? Think they're a doin' something special, don't ya? Collectin' all the bloody deliriums from the crater? Sizes of horses? Not evens worth it."He barks. "Ain't nuthin' but a bunch of snotty folks thinkin' they're a somethin' better than us. Tryin's to make dues with what we'ves got since the war. They ain'ts nuthin' special."
His gazes moves to the rest of the pack who has killed his men. "I've seen a many of yous 'ventuers gallivanting in there. Some nevers to come out. It’s not just 'cuz of the monsters. No... it's da fog. Destroys yer body and zaps yer mind… and that’s only the beginnin'. What's after—it’s far worse..."He checks how his claws are drenched in crimson blood. Brodan wipes it off on his leather sleeve.
"Fines. Bring me there? I'll be dead long before we hit the road. Yous? Won't last a second."He spits. Warm red mixes into the dry dirt. He mushes it with his foot to create a ruddy, muddy mess under his boot.
Heiboros glides towards Brodan, enveloping him in the edge of the darkness. "I could kill you now. I think you might still be usefull. You don't know my power. I don't suppose you know anything." Using prestidigitation he creates the faint rippling and groaning of dead rising. "How would it feel to be mobbed to death by your fallen comrades?"
Pain blossomed in Juniper's shoulder with a sharp, searing insistence, a sky shrouded hand instinctively coming up to cover the wound. Heiboros hisses from the darkness, "I say we leave him in the city. See how brave he is then."

Not evens worth it." He barks.
What's after—it’s far worse..." He checks how his claws are drenched in crimson blood. Brodan wipes it off on his leather sleeve.
"Fines. Bring me there? I'll be dead long before we hit the road. Yous? Won't last a second." He spits. Warm red mixes into the dry dirt. He mushes it with his foot to create a ruddy, muddy mess under his boot.

"Bear in mind that the estimate we won't last a second comes from the person who lead his team to their doom by estimating we'd be pushovers"
Ka-Cha says telepathically.
