"Arya," says Thar "Whilst I can connect to our base I cannot then take this end of the Gate through, that being the whole purpose of our visit. Best if we get out of the weather so that I can try to connect with the nearest node to base for we know that is only about a days travel by foot. We can then plan from there."
Thar will endeavour to Passwall a passage inside.

"Now that we are somewhat sheltered I will try to connect to home base first," says Thar. "Fah'lin may be getting bored waiting for us and could then come through and join us on the journey home."
Thar configures the Chain Gate to connect to home base.
Arya moves through the gate to find Fah'lin and finds him playing a dice game with Prince Laelran. She explains that the delay was NOT MY FAULT. On the way back to the gate she stops to get some warmer cloathing.
"The subtle approach didn't pan out?" Fah'lin asks. "Ok, you point, I'll hit." He gets a heavy cloak and steps up to the gate with the others. "Or... Are we trying something else?"

You're trying to find the end of this long tunnel through the mountain. You don't have a dwarf with you but even the elves can tell it's worked stone leading down from the Ley Line Node that is high on a mountain ledge.
After about an hour of travelling you come to the end of the passage, blocked by another large boulder. To move it will require a combined 80 athletics check.
(With Guidance as a concentration spell, we're presumably limited on how many of us can use it at once. However, there are four of us that can cast it so we're all good!)
Aeliarin isn't needed and you push the boulder aside. You see a frozen wast land, to the south of you is a glacier running down out of the mountains. This seems to be the only way to go as the terrain elsewhere is mountainous and impassable without specialised climbing equipment.

"So what are we looking for here?"
Otak peers down the passage.
Arya “A way of this freezing mountain.”
Aeliarin gestures to the holey boulder. "After you, brawny fellows!"

(Ah, I see. This tunnel is at the node not in the Giant's stronghold. *is dumb sometimes*)
Fah'lin walks down the hall with the others. He claps the new comer on the shoulder. "Well, wanderer, how's your sense of direction?" He asks Otak.
"Where's the other fella? He was following me a minute ago."

Otak shrugs.
"My sense of direction is ok, probably no better than yours."
Otak falls silent again, looking ahead for danger. Perception - 16

Fah'lin spits into his palms and calls on Helm's Guidance (Athletics: (3)30)
It'll take more than one god's minion to move this.
(Good thing that rolled well after Arya kept talking up his strength)

Thar, not quite concerned to be shown up by a girl, tries to help (also with some guidance). 6 + 2
And he is just not that strong.
Concerned that they may not be able to shift the giant sized boulder, Otak decides to risk using up valuable resources.
He drinks his Potion of Hill Giant Strength and his Potion of Growth, then casting Guidance 1, puts his shoulder against the boulder and pushes.19
