Bruldenthar opens his hands palm up and closes them again and says "thanks be to Dugmaren Brightmantle and Oghma but as you can see I am still alive."He sighs and goes onto say "but in truth I do not know if the same is true of Rhundorth and Teresiel, for last I saw they were being taken deeper into the mines." He thinks for a minute and then says "as for the last member of our group, Deseyna Norvael, I know not. Not long after we had been captured by members of what I think to be worshipers of Ogremoch, cursed be his name, south of Beliard and ferried across the Desarin River by a bunch of water rats," here he spits on the floor and mutters "who were given my books in payment - even though I doubt they can spell their own names, let alone read - we were ambushed by bandits flying on giant vultures armed with bows who captured Deseyna and flew off with her."
Well we are glad you are alive. We must keep looking for your fellows that were taken. You said they were taken deeper into the mine, then we must travel below. We can’t garuntee you safety but the choice is yours to flee, stay here or come with us. I hope you would trust us and come with us.

Thromkor's excitement drains away at the mention of the books. Attempting to sound stoic, he says, "We believe we know where Deseyna is." The dragonborn gives the bard a quick look. He then looks at the rest of the prisoners to see if there are still some who aren't moving.
Tibold turns to Gotrek, the two whispering for a moment. Then Tibold turns to the entire group.
"Everyone,"he says, voice barely filling the room.
"We will certainly free all of you, I hope. However, it appears that we have been spotted. I ask that any who consider themselves able will help us as we bring you out of here, fighting against any enemies, if necessary, lest we all find ourselves in these pens in short time."
It takes the party about 15 minutes to unlock all of the pens and get the prisoners organised ready to move. Gotrek and Tibold lead the party followed by Thromkor (carrying a torch) standing next to Bruldenthar and then the remainder of the prisoners with Cole carrying a second torch bringing up the rear (see map). The best speed that the group can make is about 150 feet a minute as the prisoners shuffle along.
It takes the party about 2 minutes to traverse the mines across to the stairs leading downwards. As the party commences going down the stairs, Gotrek notices that unlike the mines, the stonework here is obviously of dwarvish in origin and very well made. It does however appear to be very old. After about another 5 minutes when you have descended a total depth of 250 feet you come to the edge of a stone chasm which is over 50 feet deep; the roof of the Chasm is about 50 feet above you and its sides are comprised of rough, sloping rock, not sheer walls. A 10 foot wide bridge without railings cross the canyon and disappears into a tunnel on the other side.
We should cross one at a time and have the first person carry a rope across while we hold onto the other end. Then everyone can use the rope to steady themselves as they cross

As the party comes to a halt when the members in front see the chasm in front of them, Cole hands the torch to one of the prisoners and makes his way - using his halfling nimbleness - to easily step around and past the prisoners - down to the front of the party. When he there and sees that the bridge has no railings he says "we should cross one at a time and have the first person carry a rope across while we hold onto the other end. Then everyone can use the rope to steady themselves as they cross!"
OOC: The prisoners do not interact and therefore have no initiative, they act in the round a PC tells them to do something!
It takes the party about a minute to pull out two 50' lengths of rope (fortunately Cole and Gotrek had enough rope) and join them. While the rope is being joined Gotrek heads back to the rear of the group. After Cole has stepped out onto the bridge traversed 10 feet and is almost at the first dogleg he hears a flapping of leathery wings and sees three Gargoyles descending towards the bridge from somewhere high in the chasm. One Gargoyle is heading for the front of the group and two are heading for the rear.
Gotrek hurries up to Thromkor, "Yes, yes. Its great you found your friend, but can we do this someplace else? There is a light approaching."
Bruldenthar opens his hands palm up and closes them again and says "thanks be to Dugmaren Brightmantle and Oghma but as you can see I am still alive." He sighs and goes onto say "but in truth I do not know if the same is true of Rhundorth and Teresiel, for last I saw they were being taken deeper into the mines." Tibold turns quickly from watching Cole open the other cells.
"Sir Bruldenthar?" he asks, smiling genuinely.
"Then our task is partially complete." Tibold's smile fades as he hears the rest of Bruldenthar's tale.
"Don't worry," he tells Bruldenthar. "We have also been tasked with locating these books and keeping them safe."
And that's all I have to say about that.

Thromkor limps west, hoping his movement will encourage the others to move as well.
Bruldenthar says to Thromkor “some of them have been here a while and lost the ability to think for themselves, you’ll have to tell them what to do!”

Thromkor stops in his tracks and huffs. "OK." He looks around at the cells. "Come!" he says with exacerbation and impatience.

Tibold nods.
"Not ideal, but likely the best we can do. We'll need many people to cross at once so I can catch any who fall with a single spell. Five at a time."
And that's all I have to say about that.
Gotrek also nods at the proposal. "I will take up as the rearguard and watch for anyone trying to sneak up behind us."
Gotrek then heads to the back of the party and readies his axe.
Ok have 4 others go with me and follow single file.
