Erudisia steps into the hallway and channels arcane energies one after another toward the little white-scaled, purple-eyed reptilian in its dun outfit. The kobold turns toward her, squinting and shaking its head to clear it and incidentally somehow defeating the Moonshae Lady’s best spells. How? Such a small creature should have fallen instantly under her command. Unless… perhaps it is not what it seems to be…
It replies to Meredith in a whisper. “Baldur’s…Gate…? But what have I to do with Baldur’s Gate? Lock picking?” It stands up, its white scales flushing a light pink. “I’m not… what makes you think…? It’s this form isn’t it?,” he says, staring down with barely concealed grief at his clawed hands. “Of course you would think I’m picking the lock.” It looks up at you beseechingly. “I’m just repairing it. That’s my job here, my fate. Handyman,” he says with distaste.
“...Slipped into the hallway…? I am no thief! How you wound me, one who should be pitied instead finds nothing but insults and misunderstanding,” he moans. “Talk with you? If you wish. But not here in the hall, we are wakening the guests. Listen.”
Indeed, you hear movement in the nearest room. An off-rhythm step. The sound of Sgt. Wyvernwallace approaching his door and about to open it. “W’at’s all this?,” you hear him sleepily grumbling behind his thus-far closed door.

Meredith waved at the Seargent, " Oops....sorry....us girls and our new friend were just headed back to our rooms for a night cap....sorry we were noisy."
Sgt. Wyvernwallace complains grumpily in a yawning grumble. “Kids revelin’ late into the night. Why I had my days of it to be sure but I thought I’d seen the end of midnight quackery when I retired…” his voice trails off as his door closes, apparently convinced by Meredith’s explanation.
The kobold quirks a brow appraisingly at the obvious lie, but now seeing three women in the hallway with him, a deep frown forms. With a weighty step he follows you back to your rooms. Not a word does he say, but his attitude is long-suffering and ironical, as if he is acting a part in a play that doesn’t end well.
In a few hushed moments, you close the door behind yourselves and the kobold stands there. He—you get the sense it is a male—keeps his chin raised, but begins to shiver in fear. His eyes race around the room perhaps seeking the single implement that will be used to end his life in the most painful possible way.

Once they were alone in the room with the Kobold, " In this form. Enlighten me as to what other form you would prefer to be in and I'll see what I can do...."
Erudisia sits to try and have the little Cobble feel more at ease, glossing past her magics and its unseemly fortitude in one go. Watching its eyes tracking across the room she follows its gaze to a small silver knife on the table. She reaches across and picks up the knife and holds it softly.
“A slice?” she asks, “of anything in particular, with your refreshment?” Referring of course to the habit some might have of adding a citrus fruit to their drink.

" Also, would you like some refreshments? "
“What other form???? What kind of joke is that???,” the kobold answers Meredith petulantly. “Speaking of which don’t think I can’t count. The three of you here at once tells me you’ve decided my number is up. Although why you went to the effort of disguising yourselves I won’t even ask.”

The kobold’s eyes freeze on the blade when Erudisia picks it up. Its little reptilian Adams apple bops as it gulps down bile. But even as its milky white scales pale a notch toward blue, it answers.
“No. Thank you. And indulge me this last time, as it seems you’ve finally decided to end this charade. Why, now, hags? As I know you are. Don’t pretend you don’t know I know. Why now?”

Bell kneels down to be at eye level with the fidgeting kobold, "Small friend! We do not seek to fight. Nor are we these 'hags' you keep referring to. We are visitors here seeking a friend and hoping to free those trapped by this place."
She looks to both Erudisia and Meredith, "We know your kind are clever and serve the great dragons. We are hoping you can help us uncover the secrets here."
Unable to judge the expression on his snout, Bellcan not tell if the kobold believed her.
Bell speaks and acts persuasively and leads the kobold in ten minutes from terror to mistrust to aggrieved misunderstanding to belief. Trust? Perhaps not, but the tiefling has nothing to hide if you believe his story. Why tiefling? Indeed…
Glitter (a male tiefling) is a member of the Waterdeep Jewelers Guild, as well as an informant for one of the Masked Lords of the city. He came to the temple wanting to be a few inches taller, thinking the extra height would prove advantageous when conducting business transactions, but he renounced the hags’ bargain when his new, taller form didn’t suit him. The hags’ cursed him, transforming him into a kobold and keeping him here against his will.
“You are here to release their captives? Please… release me too! I have riches. 500 gold worth of gems I hold in a safe deposit box in the Gnome’s Safety Reserve Bank in Waterdeep. All yours if you can break this curse and return me to my true form!”
Erudisia moves to the armoire and opens it to see the vast arrangement of crystalware and spirits and selects something viscous and pink, pouring into a broad and curved glass (rumoured to be based on an avatar of Sune’s breast, though she has yet to hear it verified in this place).
“How did they perform this magic, what did they take from you? What did they do when you said you were unhappy, how did they transform you a second time?”
